Chapter 129 First Meeting

Mingyue and Song Shizhi got along quite well. Although Song Shizhi seemed aloof, Mingyue found that he wasn't as cold as he appeared after getting to know him.

Song Shi's family had strict discipline, so there was no early romance. He was always the "other people's child" that his elders talked about.

During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I was so busy with my studies that I had no time to date.

At the beginning of his career, he was eager to make achievements and had no time to find a girlfriend. When he was almost 30, his family got anxious and started looking for a suitable marriage partner for him.

Song Shizhi was very popular at school, but he didn't want to find a partner from the same system as him. Although having the same profession would give them more to talk about, it would be too boring.

He was initially somewhat resistant to today's blind date. The Ye family was very famous in Kyoto, and he was worried that Mingyue was a spoiled young lady.

Song Shizhi came from a scholarly family and felt that he was not the same kind of person as this kind of wealthy and noble lady. He felt that he and Mingyue were not a good match in terms of status or personality.

He had already agreed to go on a blind date with his family, and it was too late to back out. He treated today's meeting as work, and was eager to complete the task as soon as possible and leave.

But once he saw the bright moon, he couldn't move his legs.

The woman in front of me was bright and poised, without the slightest affectation, and she was very generous and natural.

He couldn't help but feel ashamed of his previous thoughts.

Mingyue felt that if she were to marry someone, someone like her father and brother would be ideal—emotionally stable, gentle, and patient.

Most of her male colleagues at work are straight men, straightforward and impatient, and she doesn't want to argue with her partner all the time.

Song Shizhi perfectly met her requirements: he was steady and humble, neither arrogant nor impatient, and had a refined and handsome appearance.

Her mother really knows her well; she chose such a blind date for her.

Song Shizhi truly lived up to his reputation as a teacher; he could easily ease the tension.

After a short while, Mingyue and he had a very pleasant conversation.

Mingyue also shattered Song Shizhi's preconceived notions about wealthy heiresses. He felt that his thinking was too narrow and that he thought of her in a vulgar way.

Ye Boxian was restless, muttering to himself, "Ah, Mingyue is smiling."

"What is that brat saying!"

"He's so good at charming girls, he's obviously not a good person!"

Song Shizhi was wronged. He didn't use sweet words to make Mingyue happy. He just told her his previous thoughts and sincerely apologized to her.

Mingyue was amused by his frankness. There are very few people like him nowadays, and even she herself could not be as open and honest as him.

The atmosphere of their first meeting was harmonious, and they both had some goodwill towards each other. After adding each other as WeChat friends, Mingyue politely got up to say goodbye.

"This time it's my treat, next time it's yours to treat."

Song Shizhi paid the bill first and refused Mingyue's offer to split the bill. Although he had never been in a relationship, he wasn't stupid. He could use this as an excuse to ask her out for dinner next time.

"Okay, then next time it's my treat, you can't take it from me again."

Mingyue waved goodbye to him, got into the car, and left.

Song Shizhi stood at the door with a silly smile on his face, watching Mingyue's car drive away.

Ye Boxian stared at him with disdain from a short distance away, saying, "Is this guy really an associate professor? He doesn't seem very bright."

Shu Yuqing was too lazy to pay attention to him. This guy had been rambling on for ages, and no matter what Xiao Song said or did, it was all wrong in his eyes.

Mingyue went to the orphanage. She would go back to the orphanage every now and then to help the director with chores, buy clothes for the children, and bring them various books and toys.

The director was delighted to see her, and the children at the orphanage affectionately called her "Sister Mingyue."

Mingyue distributed the books she had bought according to their requests, then pushed Xiaoguang around the yard, finally stopping near the garden, where she patiently told him stories.

Xiao Guang is an abandoned child with cerebral palsy. He was four years old and still couldn't speak. His eyes would light up whenever he saw Mingyue.

Mingyue could also sense Xiaoguang's affection for her. Every time she came to the orphanage, she would push him around, let him bask in the sun, read to him, watch butterflies with him, and encourage him to speak.

After reading for a while, Mingyue heard steady breathing beside her ear. She knew that Xiaoguang had fallen asleep. She closed the book and gently pushed Xiaoguang back to sleep.

She bought Xiaoguang an MP3 player with many children's songs on it. She asked the director to let Xiaoguang listen to them for a little while every day, hoping that he could have some sound to keep him company when she wasn't around.

Mingyue's original surname was Wang. After being adopted, Shu Yuqing learned about her background and didn't make her change her surname to Ye, allowing her to continue using her biological father's surname. Later, fearing retaliation from those people, he simply dropped the surname and called her Mingyue directly.
