Chapter 153 Thank you for your hard work

Jiang Xin went to exchange her bag in the afternoon. She didn't touch the money left over from the bag exchange, which she could use to pay off her debts.

Wang Shihan stared at her with a complicated expression, wanting to say something, but seeing her happy look, he could only sigh in the end.

Dinner was cooked by Jiang Ru again, just like lunch, with a table full of bright red Sichuan dishes.

Jiang Xin felt uneasy. She had eaten chili peppers at noon and her stomach was a little uncomfortable. She was afraid that if she ate them again in the evening, her stomach would not be able to handle it.

Jiang Ru noticed her hesitant expression. She scooped a spoonful of Mapo Tofu into Jiang Xin's bowl and said gently, "Eat up, Mom made this especially for you."

Jiang Xin complained inwardly, but showed no displeasure on her face, and replied, "Thank you, Mom."

Aside from being rude and arrogant to the Ye family, she would never lose her temper with anyone else, even strangers.

Jiang Xin struggled to swallow the bright red tofu, but one bite made her sweat profusely from the spiciness, so she quickly picked up her cup and drank half a cup of water.

Jiang Ru was annoyed by her obedience and patience. Did she not have a mouth? Couldn't she refuse food?

How could Jiang Xin not know how to refuse others? She dealt a heavy blow to the Ye family, but was subservient to Yan Ling and his family.

Yanling was like an invisible person, turning a blind eye to Jiang Xin's pain. She didn't like spicy food, but she loved it herself.

Jiang Ru supervised her until she finished the housework and then rested, as she had to go on a big shopping trip early the next morning.

Jiang Xin had a stomachache that night, and Yan Ling hastily gave her two digestive tablets and then ignored her.

The next day, Jiang Ru went out to shop with high spirits. She had already made an appointment with her younger brother the night before to come early and carry the groceries for her, as she couldn't carry all of them herself.

Jiang Xin was off work today, but Jiang Ru refused her offer to go grocery shopping with her, and thoughtfully told Jiang Xin to sleep in a little longer.

As soon as she arrived at the gate of the residential area, she ran into Jiang Wei, who was walking towards her. She waved to her younger brother and invited him to get in the car.

"Where are Hanhan and her sister-in-law?"

"They'll come later. Didn't you tell me to come earlier to go grocery shopping with you?"

Jiang Ru lazily replied with an "Mmm" and then fell silent. But Jiang Wei couldn't hold back. He secretly glanced at his sister a few times and asked, "Sis, how are you... how are you doing here?"

This question made her narrow her eyes. What a stupid question!

It's obvious she's not doing well!

"My daughter-in-law is filial, and I'm doing quite well here."

Jiang Ru spoke through gritted teeth, with great force, but unfortunately Jiang Wei didn't notice. He genuinely believed that his sister was doing well at his nephew's house.

She kept her lips tightly shut the whole way, refusing to communicate with her younger brother. She already had enough of Jiang Xin, who caused her so much trouble, and she didn't want to suffer any more.

When they arrived at the seafood market, Jiang Ru generously bought hairy crabs and shrimp, and then went to buy other ingredients. Today, she wanted to eat the shrimp and crabs that her daughter-in-law peeled for her, as well as roast pigeon. If it weren't for the fact that there wasn't enough room in the house for such a large oven, she would have also tried the roast duck made by Jiang Xin!

When Jiang Ru and Jiang Wei arrived home, their hands were full of groceries. Jiang Ru roughly placed the groceries on the kitchen floor and banged on Jiang Xin's bedroom door.

"Get up and cook!"

Jiang Ru's voice was exceptionally loud and penetrating, startling Jiang Xin and Yan Ling, who were still sleeping in.

Jiang Xin hurriedly dressed, repeatedly replying, "Coming, Mom, almost there."

Jiang Wei stood up and said to his sister, "How can she handle all this stuff by herself? Wait until my wife comes and we can do it together."

Jiang Ru turned around and glared at him. If you can't stand it, you can help yourself. What's the point of selling your sister-in-law? So your help is just being generous with other people's money?

"Shut up. If you want to help, go ahead. Nobody's stopping you. Your wife isn't even here, and you're already making decisions for her on your own?"

Jiang Ru glared at him and said irritably.

When Jiang Wei saw his sister get angry, he sat there silently, like a gourd with its mouth sawed off.

Jiang Xin was stunned when she entered the kitchen! Things that fly in the sky, swim in the water, crawl on the ground, plus a chicken, beef, and pork—was this today's lunch???

Jiang Ru leaned against the door frame and said apologetically, "Our family hasn't been together for many years. I was so happy that I bought too much food. Xin Xin, I twisted my arm when I was buying groceries this morning, so I can't help you. Thank you for your hard work at lunch today."

Jiang Xin looked at the ingredients piled up in the kitchen with tears in her eyes. Was her mother-in-law overestimating her cooking skills?

She can only cook a few simple home-style dishes; she can't cook any of these!
