Chapter 154 I don't believe you can endure this.

Jiang Xin was preparing ingredients alone in the kitchen, while Jiang Ru and Yan Ling were chatting with their uncle's family in the living room.

Auntie brought An'an along, and the chubby little granddaughter won Jiang Ru's heart.

She knew that Yanling and Jiang Xin hadn't given her younger brother and sister-in-law money for baby formula. Thinking of the house that Shu Yuqing had promised her, she gritted her teeth and transferred 100,000 yuan to her sister-in-law. This was the living expenses she was paying for An'an.

Auntie hadn't expected such a pleasant surprise today. Before taking An'an away, she hadn't thought that Jiang Xin and the others would provide living expenses, and later she realized that the two of them wouldn't contribute any money.

I never expected my sister-in-law to be so generous to her granddaughter. With this money, An'an can live a life of comfort for the next few years.

Jiang Xin dared not handle the hairy crabs, so she went out to ask Yan Ling for help. Jiang Ru scolded her, "What kind of logic is this, letting a man into the kitchen! You're not allowed to go! It's just asking you to cook a meal, why are you putting on airs? We didn't marry you into our family so you could enjoy a life of luxury!"

"But Mom, I don't know how to do it..."

"There are no 'buts'! Who is born knowing everything? Everyone has to learn by trial and error. You're marrying Yanling, so you can't be clueless about this and that, right? It would be such an embarrassment for him if word got out."

Thinking of Yanling's tactics, Jiang Ru also said, "Mom is doing this for your own good. If you don't try today, you still won't be able to do it tomorrow. It's okay, just go for it and do it boldly. Mom won't blame you."

Seeing that Yan Ling remained unmoved, Jiang Xin could only return to the kitchen to continue working, feeling wronged.

Jiang Xin stood alone in the kitchen, listening to the laughter and chatter outside. That happiness didn't belong to her; she felt like a forgotten person.

After struggling to prepare a table full of dishes, Jiang Xin felt like she could barely lift her hands. Before she could even catch her breath, her mother-in-law called her back.

Jiang Ru said with a smile, "Xin Xin, Mommy's hand is injured."

Jiang Xin looked on with a puzzled expression; she knew her mother-in-law's hand was injured.

Jiang Ru: "...Could you help Mom disassemble the crab? Mom's hands aren't very strong."

She'd never seen such a clueless daughter-in-law! She wondered if the woman was just pretending to be stupid!

Jiang Xin secretly blamed herself for being inconsiderate; she hadn't even helped her mother-in-law with the crabs and shrimp when she was injured. She felt she was a really irresponsible daughter-in-law.

She quickly picked out a crab from the plate and carefully extracted the crab roe and meat, placing them in a bowl.

Jiang Ru kept her eyes fixed on Jiang Xin. Seeing that Jiang Xin hadn't even drunk a drop of water and was carefully picking out crab meat for herself, Jiang Ru felt a little guilty. Was she going too far by doing this?

Just as the idea came to her mind, a notification sound from her phone instantly dispelled her hesitation. Her son had sent her a text message asking why she hadn't been home lately.

After thinking for a moment, Jiang Ru told the child that she would be staying at his uncle's house for a while.

The news of her son dispelled Jiang Ru's guilt. She hadn't done anything wrong; it was Jiang Xin who willingly endured these hardships, not Jiang Ru who had forced her to do them.

Jiang Xin had just finished dissecting a crab and peeled a few shrimp for her mother-in-law when Jiang Ru said to her younger brother and sister-in-law, "Look how filial my daughter-in-law is."

Auntie quickly chimed in, "Yes, eldest sister is truly blessed."

Jiang Xin smiled sheepishly and was about to start eating when her mother-in-law called out to her, "Xin Xin, didn't you stir-fry any vegetables? This table is full of meat, it's not healthy."

Jiang Xin was stunned. It seemed that she had indeed forgotten to stir-fry the vegetables. She had no choice but to put down her chopsticks and get up to go to the kitchen to stir-fry the vegetables.

When she came out with a plate of vegetables, the table was a mess, with cups and plates scattered everywhere, bones and scraps piled on the surface, and the plate was empty.

Jiang Xin's eyes were filled with disappointment. She had worked hard all morning to prepare the dishes, but they hadn't left her a single bite.

Jiang Ru glanced at her without showing any emotion, thinking to herself, "I don't believe you can resist!"

Yanling noticed that Jiang Xin's expression was off, and he said apologetically, "Xin Xin, your cooking was so delicious that we couldn't resist and ate it all without realizing it. How about this, I'll go to the kitchen and see what else we have, and I'll make it for you."

Yan Ling's words brightened Jiang Xin's mood, and she quickly stopped him, saying, "If you like it, that's fine. This is enough for me."

After saying that, she playfully raised the plate in her hand, which contained the stir-fried vegetables she had just cooked.

Jiang Ru lowered her eyes in disappointment. After making arrangements for so long, Yan Ling easily resolved Jiang Xin's resentment with just a few words. It seemed that she wouldn't be able to achieve the desired effect in a short time.

When disappointment accumulates, it will turn into despair, and at that point, Yanling's sweet words will lose their effect.

It seems I have a long way to go and a heavy responsibility ahead.
