Chapter 174 Offering Unsolicited Favors

While Jiang Xin was busy in the kitchen, Yan Ling was thinking of a hundred and eighty plans to harm her.

Yan Ling stared at his legs and sighed silently. No matter how much he thought about it, it was useless. He was now unable to move around easily, had no money or people, so how could he punish Jiang Xin?

With only a few hundred thousand yuan on hand, it's simply not enough to get anyone to do anything for him. Should he just let Jiang Xin live a carefree life?

These strategies are all impractical; it seems we need to find another shortcut.

Yanling took out her phone, hoping to find a solution online.

Jiang Xin picked and washed vegetables, chopped meat, and stir-fried vegetables in the wok. She was sweating profusely in the kitchen. Thinking about the money that was about to be in her hands, Jiang Xin felt excited and her hands moved even more nimbly.

Yanling's brows gradually relaxed when he heard the woman's voice picking a fight. Isn't it a perfectly reasonable excuse for a mother-in-law to discipline her daughter-in-law for being disobedient?

Yan Ling instantly came up with a perfect plan: a ready-made scapegoat, why not take advantage of it?

The next day, when he went out to buy medicine, the pharmacy was very wary when they heard that he wanted to buy sleeping pills. Not only did they refuse to sell them to him, but they also asked him many questions. Yanling had no choice but to go to an unlicensed clinic and buy them at a high price.

At night, Yanling watched as Jiang Xin drank the spiked water, anticipating her reaction.

To everyone's surprise, Jiang Xin did not fall into a coma as usual, nor did she have any adverse reactions. Yan Ling thought that the medicine was not enough and had no effect on Jiang Xin, so he increased the dosage the next day.

For several days in a row, no matter how many sleeping pills Yanling put in, Jiang Xin had no reaction. He angrily went to the illegal clinic and demanded an explanation from the person who sold him the drugs.

The man selling the medicine was an old man. When Yanling entered the room that day, he noticed that the man had difficulty walking. After observing him closely, he discovered that the man had a prosthetic leg. He assumed that the man wanted to buy sleeping pills to commit suicide, so he sold Yanling vitamins instead of sleeping pills.

Upon learning the truth, Yanling was so angry he almost vomited blood. Who wanted his fake kindness! This person was selling counterfeit medicine; he was going to report him!

When his plan failed, he had to come up with another idea. Before he could even devise a plan, Xie Jiashu's lawyer contacted him and asked what he had thought about.

If he doesn't accept Xie Jiashu's proposal, then they will sue him.

No matter how angry Yanling is, it's no use. The most urgent thing now is to find a way to make Xie Jiashu stop pursuing his responsibility.

All of this was because of Jiang Xin. Despite hating her to the core, he still begged her to give up taking back the house and give him a way to survive.

Yan Ling was extremely frustrated. He never expected that the tables would turn and he would have to fawn over Jiang Xin.

When Jiang Xin got home from get off work, she found that Yan Ling had already prepared dinner and cleaned the house spotlessly, even washing and drying An An's dirty clothes.

She seemed very happy during the meal; this was the life she wanted, the everyday joy she longed for. She wished Yanling could do this every day.

Jiang Xin praised Yan Ling's cooking, saying it was delicious and that he was her favorite.

Jiang Xin's sincere praise did not resonate with Yan Ling. Instead, he misunderstood her meaning, thinking that Jiang Xin was implying that he should cook and do housework every day from now on.

Yan Ling clenched his fists under the table, but his face remained expressionless. He said to Jiang Xin with affection, "I know you like my cooking, so I'll cook for you more often from now on."

Jiang Ru's gaze swept back and forth between the two of them, thinking that Yan Ling was deliberately saying these things in front of her, subtly telling her not to make things difficult for Jiang Xin anymore.

“Jiang Xin, Yanling was sweating profusely after mopping the floor for just a short while today. It was even more difficult for him to cook in the kitchen. I know he loves you and doesn't want you to have to do chores after get off work.”

You're husband and wife, you should be considerate of each other. Can you bear to see him work so hard every day?

"Yanling, I don't want you to work so hard, I can't bear to see you like this. I know you want to help lighten my burden, but I don't want you to suffer. Let me do these things when I get off work."

Jiang Xin spoke sincerely, her eyes filled with heartache; she would rather suffer herself than let Yan Ling suffer.

Unlike the previous times, Yanling didn't remain silent. He smiled gently and said, "I also can't bear to see you work so hard every day. Don't worry, my legs are just a little sore, I'm fine."

Jiang Xin put down her chopsticks and was about to check his wound when Yan Ling grabbed her hand and said, "I'm just not used to it yet. It will get better with time."

Jiang Xin looked at him with emotion, her heart filled with gratitude. She hadn't expected Yan Ling to go to such lengths for her.

Jiang Ru glanced at Yan Ling discreetly. Unsolicited kindness always has ulterior motives. She wondered what he wanted to do to Jiang Xin, but judging by the extent of his attentiveness, he seemed to have something more to offer.

After dinner, Yanling made an excuse to get some fresh air and asked Jiang Xin to go downstairs with him for a walk. Once they were in a secluded spot, he finally asked about the house.

Jiang Xin's pupils contracted. How did he know about the house?

Combined with his actions today, Jiang Xin mistakenly believed that he wanted to ask her for money.

She didn't want to admit it; she was afraid the money would vanish again.

Jiang Xin lowered her head and dared not answer. She never expected that she would become like this. The moment she learned that she might have money, her first thought was that she couldn't let Yan Ling know.

Clearly...

In her heart, Yanling was the most important person, but now, money seemed to have surpassed his status, and his place in her heart had become less important.

Yanling saw her struggle and thought she was determined to kill him. His gaze gradually turned cold, and he asked in a deep voice, "Do you really want to abandon me? If you don't want to live with me anymore, you can just say so. Why do you have to be so ruthless?"

What was he saying? Was he going to push things to the extreme? She didn't; she just hadn't told him the news. Why would he say she wanted to abandon him?
