Time flies, and six years have passed quickly.
Mingyue is a graduate student, while Ye Beichen and Fang Ying have a stable relationship and have reached the stage of discussing marriage.
Jiang Xin returned to China and went straight to the Ye family home, only to find that they had moved away and no longer lived in their original place.
Undeterred, she called everyone in her family to tell them she was back.
But no one paid any attention to her. After exchanging pleasantries, they politely hung up the phone. No one cared about her plans after returning to China, and no one asked her where she would stay.
Jiang Xin felt abandoned by the whole world. She thought that when she returned from studying abroad, she would be greeted with flowers and applause, but reality gave her a rude awakening.
During the years she spent abroad, she gained a profound understanding of the gap between the rich and the poor. She finally realized how prominent the Ye family was, and that she should have been the princess cherished by the Ye family. All of this was ruined by her impulsiveness and willfulness.
Before returning to China, she had already made plans. The first thing she would do upon returning was to apologize to her parents. She wanted them to forgive her, as she did not want to leave the Ye family and could not leave them.
But she never expected that the Ye family would really abandon her. Of course, her parents didn't lack daughters; even without her, they still had Mingyue. But she had stayed at home for so many years; how could her parents not care about the kinship between them?
Although she was unwilling, no matter how much she begged and apologized, Shu Yuqing and Ye Boxian refused to let her go back.
Jiang Xin could only afford to rent a room and then sent out resumes everywhere. Almost a month after returning to China, Jiang Xin found a job, although she was not satisfied with the position and salary, but she had no choice in order to survive.
The workload at the company is heavy, and Jiang Xin often works overtime. Every time she drags her tired body home, she passes through the bustling streets and looks at the lights of the city. Jiang Xin often thinks about when she will be able to own her own house here.
On her day off, Jiang Xin stepped into the shopping mall she frequented. She browsed the luxury goods counters, but the balance in her bank card meant that her only purpose for the day was to look; she couldn't afford anything.
As she entered the next store, she saw her mother sitting on the sofa not far away, along with a woman she had never seen before, and felt as if she were in another world.
Jiang Xin felt like crying as her mother sat there proudly, while the waiter stood respectfully to the side holding a tray.
She is also her mother's daughter, and she should be sitting there enjoying the same treatment.
Recalling the disdainful faces of the staff at the other stores she had just visited, Jiang Xin burst into tears and ran towards where Shu Yuqing was.
Before she could even get close, two shop assistants reached out to stop her: "Miss, that's the VIP area. Please come over here if you want to select items."
As she spoke, she led her to the other end of the road. Jiang Xin, disregarding her image, shouted loudly to Shu Yuqing, "Mom!"
In fact, Shu Yuqing had already noticed Jiang Xin's presence when she came looking for her. After all, the shop was very quiet, and Jiang Xin's commotion was quite loud, making it difficult for her to ignore her.
But how could she possibly pick up the trouble she had thrown away again? Shu Yuqing turned her head and glanced at her before turning away again. Fang Ying, who was beside her, saw the fleeting look of disgust on her face and also turned around to look at Jiang Xin.
Her long black hair fell naturally down, and her small, fair face, though not particularly outstanding in appearance, possessed a captivating charm.
It seems this must be Jiang Xin, Ye Beichen's other sister.
Fang Ying was surprised by Jiang Xin's behavior. The Ye family had already severed their adoption relationship with her, so why did she rush towards Aunt Shu as soon as she saw her? Didn't she think her behavior was very impolite?
When Fang Ying first heard about her younger sister's life from Ye Beichen, she was somewhat skeptical. How could a child raised in a wealthy family be so naive, almost to the point of being foolish?
Fang Ying has an older brother. From a young age, she knew that her parents' love for her was not 100% and they would not spoil her unconditionally.
Even fingers are of different lengths, let alone the love of parents.
Her parents said they loved her the most and spoiled her the most, but they were always very lenient with her. They didn't ask her to study hard or be ambitious.
When my brother was little, he argued and made a scene with our parents about this. He didn't understand their strictness, and he would hysterically yell at them, asking why they were so strict with him and that he wanted to live a carefree and happy life like his sister.
Fang Ying still remembers what her parents said back then. They said, "Your sister is a girl, how can she be like you? As long as your sister doesn't cause trouble, she can be a well-behaved young lady and get married in the future."
"Your sister won't inherit the company, so why should she work hard? You're the future heir of the Fang family; if we're lax with you, we'll be harming you."
Fang Ying was ten years old that year, and she understood what her parents were saying.
Because she was a daughter, her parents didn't have many expectations for her; but because her brother was a son, her parents had high hopes for him.
In the eyes of parents, as long as their daughter doesn't do anything out of line, it's fine. They don't have high expectations for their daughter, and they won't spend much time or effort on her.
She was indignant. What's wrong with her daughter? What her son can do, her daughter can do too!
Why is it that just because she's a daughter, she doesn't deserve to be called a child of the same parents?
From that day on, Fang Ying began to study desperately. She learned to please her parents and compete with her brother for their affection.
Through her hard work, her parents finally gave her the opportunity to learn how to manage the business as well. She achieved her goal and defeated her brother with excellent grades, becoming the next heir of the Fang family.
Even though she had succeeded, she dared not relax at all. Fang Ying knew that any relationship in this world needed to be carefully maintained, whether it was with clients, lovers, or parents.
Fang Ying couldn't understand Jiang Xin's thought process; she had equal opportunities but didn't know how to cherish them.
