Jiang Xin's voice broke the silence in the store. Shu Yuqing frowned imperceptibly and nodded reservedly to the shop assistant in front of her. The shop assistant understood and got up to welcome Jiang Xin over.
Jiang Xin, with tear stains still on her face, looked at Shu Yuqing and called out in a wronged tone, "Mom."
Shu Yuqing slowly raised her head, her expression unchanged, her eyes like an ancient well, distant and calm. She said politely, "Hello, Jiang Xin. Please don't call me Mom anymore. I remember we've severed ties."
Jiang Xin shook her head: "Mom, I was ignorant before, please don't abandon me."
Her voice was soft, her eyes were filled with tears, and her face was full of pleading. This made Shu Yuqing, who was sitting on the sofa with a cold expression, seem like an unreasonable person.
Fortunately, this was the VIP area, and besides the three customers, there were only staff members left. Otherwise, given Jiang Xin's weak and aggrieved appearance, someone might have stood up for her.
“Jiang Xin, you signed the dissolution agreement yourself. What’s the point of you coming to me now? The Ye family only has one daughter, Mingyue. Don’t you feel suffocated at home? Then why did you come to me? What, don’t you feel like the Ye family is a cage now?”
Shu Yuqing's words showed no mercy to Jiang Xin; she didn't want to get entangled with this ungrateful wretch any longer.
Jiang Xin's appearance clearly shows that she is unhappy with her life. When she is broke, she wants to come back, but when she has money, she says that the Ye family is a cage.
Jiang Xin, Jiang Xin, why do you think the world revolves around you? Does the Ye family have to obediently listen to whatever you say or do?
After finishing her sentence, Shu Yuqing stopped looking at her and pointed to a row of clothes in front of her: "Wrap up everything on this except for that red dress. Also, take a look at the new bags that have just come out."
Anyone who works in a place like this is a shrewd person. The shop assistant just gave a standard smile, respectfully said "okay," and went out to get Shu Yuqing's bag.
After instructing the shop assistant, Shu Yuqing turned to Fang Ying and said, "Let's go to another store later. The bags in this store are fine for Mingyue to carry when she goes out, but they're not really suitable for school. Let's go pick out a few bags in more understated colors for her."
"Aunt Shu, you are so good to Mingyue. It must be such a blessing to be your daughter!"
Fang Ying wasn't lying at all; she genuinely envied Mingyue for having such an enlightened mother.
Even though she has now taken over the Fang family's business, her mother still says from time to time, "You should change your temper, or Bei Chen won't be able to stand it in the future."
"You need to learn how to win a man's heart."
"After you get married, you must be a good wife and mother. You can't just bury yourself in work; you also need to take care of the family."
Whenever her mother talked about these things, Fang Ying always felt helpless. She didn't understand why, even though she earned money just like men, she was the one taking care of the family, and why no one expected men to be virtuous husbands.
Aunt Shu would never say these things to Mingyue. She would not ask Mingyue to be a virtuous wife and loving mother. She would only support Mingyue's career and encourage her to achieve her dreams, but she would not ask her to be gentle and considerate.
This is the difference between mothers: one is a mother with a liberated mind and independent spirit, and the other is a mother with traditional values.
One woman believes that women themselves are more important, while the other believes that family is more important; their attitudes toward their daughters are also completely different.
Jiang Xin will never know what she missed, and she doesn't understand how lucky she is to have a mother like Aunt Shu.
