Chapter 21 The Ultimate Love Brain

Jiang Xin finished her meal absentmindedly, her mind preoccupied with how to reconcile with Yan Ling. She wondered if Yan Ling had found a new girlfriend while she was away from the country.

Jiang Xin had long forgotten her complaints about Yan Ling from a while ago. Whenever she saw him, she was like a woman possessed, with only him in her eyes and heart, and no other people or things could be accommodated.

Jiang Xin was eating alone, and no matter how slowly she ate, she couldn't stay in the restaurant indefinitely. After paying the bill, she waited for Yan Ling at the entrance.

As the city lights began to twinkle, Yanling and his colleagues finally emerged from inside.

Yan Ling glanced at Jiang Xin, who was standing by the roadside, said goodbye to her colleagues, and then walked towards her.

Seeing the man walking towards her, Jiang Xin's heart raced. She greeted Yan Ling, "Yan Ling, I'm back."

After she finished speaking, she looked at Yanling expectantly, hoping to get a warm response from him.

Yan Ling glanced at her coldly: "Oh, Miss has returned to the country. It's rare that Miss still remembers someone like me."

Jiang Xin's face turned ashen. With tears in her eyes, she looked at Yan Ling with a hurt expression: "What's wrong with you? I looked for you before I went abroad, but your phone was always switched off. When I called you after I came back, your number was no longer in service."

Yan Ling smiled nonchalantly: "Thank you for remembering me. No need for you to worry about me. Let's pretend we don't know each other from now on."

Jiang Xin then noticed the deep furrows between Yan Ling's brows, clearly caused by frequent frowning. Could it be that he was having a hard time?

The thought that Yanling might not be doing well softened Jiang Xin's heart. She looked up at him and said gently, "I know you're angry with me, but I had no choice at the time. I wanted to discuss going abroad with you, but I couldn't find you. Don't be angry with me anymore, I'm back now."

Yan Ling frowned and scrutinized Jiang Xin with a critical look: "Why are you eating here?"

Jiang Xin's face stiffened; she didn't know how to explain severing ties with the Ye family.

“I went to the Ye family to look for you. Your mother said you went abroad. They were very rude to me, kicked me out, and forbade me from asking about you.”

Yanling's words were full of accusations against the Ye family, without mentioning at all his rude behavior at the Ye family.

Jiang Xin took Yan Ling to her rented place. As soon as they entered, Yan Ling frowned again: "You live here now?"

“Yes, I’ve been living here since I returned to China.” Jiang Xin poured Yan Ling a glass of water.

Yan Ling swaggered around the house, her dissatisfaction practically overflowing: "Aren't you the Ye family's daughter? How come they let you live in a place like this? Didn't they buy you a house?"

These words struck Jiang Xin's fragile heart, and tears fell from her eyes: "I severed ties with them before I went abroad."

"What?! Why should they sever ties with you! You are the daughter of the Ye family, why should they abandon you!" Yan Ling's voice rose eight octaves, and people in the stairwell outside could probably hear his roar.

Jiang Xin only knew how to sob and didn't answer him.

"The Ye family is so rich, didn't they give you any compensation?" Yan Ling's angry voice rang out.

Jiang Xin shook her head: "No, they said back then that if I wanted to go abroad, I would cut off all ties with them."

She did not mention that the Ye family had given her a large sum of money for tuition.

"So you chose to go abroad." Yanling's voice was filled with anger, but also contained a hint of probing.

"Well, my classmates told me that the school I attended was just a waste of time and I wouldn't have a future after graduation. They told me to go abroad so that I could have a better future."

Jiang Xin skillfully passed the buck to her classmate.

Yan Ling frowned and said impatiently, "Didn't you go to the Ye family when you returned to China? You are their daughter, how could they let you suffer?"

"I went there. My parents are probably still angry with me. After all, I was wrong back then." Jiang Xin blushed as she recalled the past.

As she grew older, she gradually realized that it was wrong of her to have gotten pregnant out of wedlock.

But she didn't blame Yanling. They were both young then, and it was normal for them to have sex when they couldn't control themselves. The mistake was that they didn't take proper precautions, which led to her parents' disappointment in her.

Yan Ling seemed lost in thought, a cryptic light flickering in his eyes.

Back in school, he considered himself the school's top dog, and as the top dog, how could he not have a sister-in-law by his side?

Yanling harassed many female classmates, but unfortunately, whether they were high-achieving or average, everyone avoided him like the plague and no one paid any attention to him.

Just as he was lamenting that no fish were biting, Jiang Xin appeared in front of him.

Yan Ling immediately began pursuing Jiang Xin. Having been around the streets, he knew what kind of girls were easy to manipulate.

Jiang Xin, a well-behaved girl with a good temper, a simple and gentle personality, and a timid nature, is the hunter's favorite prey.

Sure enough, it wasn't long before Jiang Xin fell into Yan Ling's romantic advances. She skipped classes, got into fights, and indulged herself with him.

Yan Ling liked Jiang Xin, especially after he learned about her identity. He was even more satisfied with Jiang Xin, and her status as a wealthy heiress made him very proud among his friends.

What kind of rich heiress does she have to obey this little hoodlum?

His cronies admired him immensely, praising Yan Ling's charm and saying that he won over the rich young lady effortlessly, making her devoted to him. Being with Jiang Xin gave Yan Ling a great sense of accomplishment.

Jiang Xin's submission to him caused his confidence to swell rapidly, as if he were trampling those rich people under his feet, a feeling that made him feel elated.

But now Jiang Xin says she has severed ties with the Ye family. Without the Ye family's halo, Jiang Xin is like Cinderella back to her original self, with nothing about her that attracts Yan Ling anymore.

Without the advantage of being from a wealthy family, Jiang Xin's background is not as good as that of girls from ordinary families, at least other girls have their parents as a support.

But after all, the Ye family has raised Jiang Xin for over a decade; what if they're just ignoring her out of anger...?

Jiang Xin was completely unaware of Yan Ling's inner thoughts. All she knew was that she could now be with Yan Ling without worry, and no one could stop her anymore.
