Chapter 220 Extra Chapter: Jiang Xin Thirty

Yanling couldn't understand where things had gone wrong. He used to skip classes, smoke, go to bars, and fight, but he had always gotten away with it. Why was he now facing one problem after another, without even a chance to catch his breath?

Now the school wants to expel him, where should he go...?

He definitely couldn't go to that bar last night; just thinking about the laughter of those old women made him shudder.

Yan Ling suddenly felt that the world was vast, yet there was nowhere for him to find refuge.

He wandered aimlessly through the streets, finally deciding to go find that woman. His uncle had mentioned her address on the phone once; she, she should be able to take care of herself, right?

Yan Ling arrived at the residential area where Jiang Ru lived. He squatted down by the roadside and stared intently at the people entering and leaving the gate.

Around noon, he finally saw the woman. She was holding the hand of a boy who looked to be in elementary school, and she was gently wiping the boy's sweat with a handkerchief.

The scene before him seemed frozen in time. In a daze, he recalled that she had once gently wiped his sweat in the same way, and that he had once been the darling of her heart.

Yanling thought the sun was really strong today, and the sunlight was particularly dazzling. His gaze felt as if it were being burned, and he quickly looked away, no longer looking in that direction.

After squatting on the ground for an unknown amount of time, Yan Ling noticed a shadow above his head. He turned around abruptly and saw that the woman had appeared behind him at some point, staring at him indifferently.

"Here's 2,000 yuan. Take it and go. Don't come looking for me again."

Jiang Ru spotted Yan Ling from afar, but she pretended not to see him until she dropped her son off at home. Then she made an excuse to buy soy sauce and went downstairs to find him.

Her younger brother had told her about the child, and he even wanted her to take Yanling away, but she was currently dependent on others for a living, so how could she possibly support him?

Yanling stared blankly at the money in front of him. What did this woman mean? Was she just giving him 2,000 yuan to get rid of him?

“Take this. I’ll have someone bring you living expenses at the beginning of each month until you graduate from high school. But don’t come here again.”

"What do you mean? You think I've embarrassed you? You're the one who abandoned me and Dad! You were the one who abandoned us first!"

Jiang Ru's expression changed slightly. She hadn't expected that after so many years, he would still blame her.

Given the circumstances back then, if I didn't get a divorce, was I supposed to just wait to be beaten to death?

He knew perfectly well what kind of life she was living—humiliation, fear, and anxiety—and that she had to sacrifice herself and endure her ex-husband's domestic violence every day just to be a good mother.

How could this child be so selfish? He still doesn't understand that his mother is a person, a living, breathing human being. Just because she became a mother doesn't mean she shouldn't have her own thoughts and life, or that she should live a life worse than death for her child.

She is first and foremost Jiang Ru, and only then a mother.

"Think what you want. Do you want the money or not? If you don't, I'll take it back."

Yanling glared at Jiang Ru resentfully and shouted at her, "You give me living expenses every month, and I should thank you? If it weren't for my uncle all these years, I would have starved to death long ago! A woman like you doesn't deserve to be a mother!"

Jiang Ru was despairing of his intelligence. Why was Jiang Wei willing to take him in? It was because of her! She was Jiang Wei's sister, and it was because of this relationship that he was willing to support him.

If Dad is so good, why haven't any members of the Yan family come looking for him all these years?

Before Jiang Ru could even speak, she saw her son rush over like a cannonball. He shoved Yan Ling and said, "You're not allowed to bully my mother!"

Seeing that Yanling was about to suddenly attack someone, Jiang Ru quickly shielded her son behind her: "Since you don't want my money, then leave."

A hint of hurt flashed in Yan Ling's eyes. He snatched the money from Jiang Ru's hand, turned around, and strode away.

Jiang Ru breathed a sigh of relief. She really didn't want the two brothers to meet. Her son was sunny, cheerful, and polite, and he and Yanling seemed to be from two different worlds.

"Mom, I chased the bad guy away!"

"Yes, Hengheng is the best! Let's go back."

Jiang Ru led her son back home. It's no wonder she was biased; she had raised both children single-handedly. Yan Ling was naturally unruly and had a gloomy and cold-blooded personality.

Back then, my ex-husband abused me every day. He would never help me, and he would pretend not to see it afterward. He didn't care about my life or death at all.

Hengheng, at such a young age, already knows how to care for his mother. Even when his father speaks to him in a slightly harsh tone, he will criticize his father for being wrong. How can you blame her for not liking Yanling?

If he had even the slightest bit of compassion for his mother, she would have insisted on taking him with her when they divorced.

When Jiang Xin went for her morning run, she noticed that Yan Ling's photos were posted all over the campus. She stopped and went closer to take a closer look, commenting as she looked: "If only they could make a video and put it online, she would definitely be a top star. I wonder which unlucky rich girl got this scourge. Ah~~ It's so nice to have Yan Ling out of the school."
