Chapter 224 Extra Chapter: Jiang Xin Thirty-Four

He Wan was tightly covered in the mouth and nose by a complete stranger. Terrified, she tried to break free from his grasp. Yan Ling leaned close to her ear and said, "Don't scream. I skipped class. If you scream, you'll attract the teacher, understand?"

She nodded quickly, indicating that she understood. Yan Ling then lowered his hand, but as soon as his palm left He Wan's lips, she opened her mouth wide as if to call for help. He quickly covered her lips again.

"Can't you understand when I'm talking to you properly? You're not a student at our school, what are you doing here? What's it to you if I skip class? I advise you not to go against me."

He Wan's eyes darted around, clearly indicating that she was plotting something wicked.

She pointed to her mouth and shook her head, indicating that she would not call for help anymore.

Unfortunately, she had no credibility with Yan Ling. Having already been deceived once, he was wary of this woman. He said to He Wan, "Okay, I'll count to three and then let go."

Seeing her nod, Yanling began to count: "1..."

He had only counted to one when he quickly let go and tried to run away, but He Wan reached out and grabbed his clothes, blocking his way.

Yan Ling turned around and growled at her impatiently, "What exactly do you want to do!"

He Wan was startled by his anger. She didn't expect that students these days would be so bold. Even after being caught red-handed, he still dared to lose his temper with her. Is there such a big difference between high school students in big cities and those in her hometown?

When I was in high school, I was always as docile as a quail whenever I saw a teacher. Other classmates were in similar situations; they were mostly introverted and shy, and they couldn't utter a few words for a long time when facing strangers. They were nothing like this kid who was so bold and reckless.

Are children living in big cities naturally more confident and carefree than those in small towns? Thinking back to her own cautiousness since childhood, He Wan felt a pang of sadness; she also longed to be as free and unrestrained as him.

Seeing that the woman not only didn't answer his question but also seemed to be lost in thought, Yanling couldn't help but try to pry her hand off his clothes. But before he could even touch her, the woman's eyes reddened and tears were about to fall. Yanling hurriedly explained, "It wasn't me. I haven't even touched you yet."

"I know it's not your fault, I just couldn't help crying because I was reminded of some sad things from the past. I came here to find someone, can you help me?"

If He Wan had been firm or had a bad tone, Yan Ling would definitely not have paid any attention to her. But now that she was pitifully begging for his help, what could he do but agree?

Yan Ling took her to a snack shop and ordered some snacks for her. He Wan's eyes darkened. Are high school students really this extravagant?

"Don't cry, tell me what you want me to help you with."

He Wan knew that boys his age should still have passion in their hearts and couldn't stand hearing tragic stories, so she decided to start by telling her own tragic childhood story.

"Let me introduce myself. My name is He Wan, and I am a student at University A. I come from a remote mountainous area. My parents are farmers. After I was born, they always hoped to have a son. When I was in the first grade of elementary school, they finally had the son they had been longing for."

Yanling listened to the story while eating. He didn't understand why this person was telling him all this. Her parents favored boys over girls, so it wouldn't do any good to talk to her, right?

He Wan was lost in her memories. She didn't need Yan Ling's response. At this moment, she just wanted to confide her troubles to someone.

"My miserable life began after my younger brother was born. The first thing I did when I got home from school every day was not to do my homework, but to coax my brother to sleep. Only after I had coaxed him to sleep could I do my homework. After finishing my homework, I had to start washing the whole family's clothes and my brother's diapers."

When the topic of diapers came up, He Wan became excited and her voice became much louder.

"You know what? I hate washing diapers the most. They're so smelly. But if I don't wash them, I'll get beaten. So I have to hold my nose and wash my brother's diapers. My parents would beat me to vent their anger. That's how I spent my childhood."

Yan Ling remained silent, engrossed in eating a plate of spicy strips, not sparing He Wan a single glance.

He Wan almost choked when she saw his uninterested look. How could he not react at all when she had said such touching things?

She cursed inwardly, "So what if they're kids from big cities? They have no sense of propriety at all. If they were back in their hometown, they would have been scolded long ago."

Suppressing the urge to roll her eyes, she continued, "My grades have always been excellent. I always get first place in every exam, and the school gives me some kind of reward. That's why my parents didn't make me drop out of school. Otherwise, they would have sold me to an old man for a dowry long ago."

My parents never allowed me to sit at the table when we ate at home. It wasn't until I got into university that I realized there were so many delicious foods in the world, but unfortunately I had never tasted them before.

I recently started dating a guy, and we had a great relationship. I liked him, and he liked me a lot too. But everything changed after he took me home to meet his parents.

He Wan looked at Yan Ling, who remained unmoved, and cursed him in her heart. "Eat, eat, eat! All he knows is eating! Is this guy a pig?!" She had already described the situation so poorly, so why wasn't he agitated or indignant at all?

Although many of the things she just said were fabricated out of thin air, her rhetoric worked well on other people, and she benefited from it. Why was this person completely unmoved?

He Wan felt a little discouraged; she didn't want to waste any more time here. But the moment her eyes met Yan Ling's handsome face, she felt better. Such a handsome boy must be very popular at school; maybe Jiang Xin liked him.
