Chapter 6 A Bowl of Noodles

A few days later, Shu Yuqing sent her two daughters to two different kindergartens. Mingyue was the daughter she had brought home with genuine affection, and she wouldn't let Mingyue get caught up in any power struggles.

Although Jiang Xin didn't do this in her previous life, it was because she was the only daughter in her family. She didn't need to fight or compete for anything. She, Ye Boxian, and Ye Beichen would bring her everything that many people dream of.

But this time she lost the advantage of being the only one favored. Shu Yuqing was worried that she would do something that would harm Mingyue, so she planned to separate them from childhood.

As the days went by, the Ye family's business grew bigger and bigger, and the children in the family gradually grew older. Soon it was time for the two daughters to start high school.

Shu Yuqing never mistreated Jiang Xin materially; she always treated all three children equally.

Jiang Xin was a year older than Mingyue and started high school a year earlier. By the time Mingyue was in her first year of high school, Jiang Xin was already in her second year.

Recalling what happened in her past life, Shu Yuqing knew that Jiang Xin should be involved with that thug by now.

In her previous life, Jiang Xin said that Shu Yuqing was too strict with her, making her feel no warmth from her family. In this life, Shu Yuqing no longer disciplined her like he did in her previous life, nor did he interfere in anything she did.

Just like in her previous life, Shu Yuqing received a call from Jiang Xin's homeroom teacher. In the call, the teacher subtly reminded her to pay more attention to Jiang Xin's movements and said that Jiang Xin's grades had dropped significantly.

A mocking smile appeared on Shu Yuqing's lips as she said to the homeroom teacher on the other end of the phone, "Jiang Xin is not my biological daughter; she is an adopted child. She's grown up now, and there are many things I can't say. Please take care of her."

The homeroom teacher didn't say anything more, exchanged a few polite words, and then hung up the phone.

"What, did I give you absolute freedom, or did you still feel oppressed in the Ye family?"

Shu Yuqing sneered inwardly.

After all, this is what Jiang Xin said to outsiders in her previous life: she said that the Ye family did not give her the warmth of a family, making her feel depressed, painful, and suffocated.

After graduating and returning to China, he took a position at a university, lived alone in a multi-million dollar apartment, drove luxury cars, was dressed head-to-toe in designer brands, and carried limited-edition bags. This kind of life is indeed quite depressing.

Shu Yuqing still remembers what Jiang Xin said that day.

That day, Shu Yuqing missed her daughter, so she bought her daughter's favorite food and went to visit her. As soon as she entered the door, her daughter gave her a surprise.

Jiang Xin told her shyly, "Mom, Yanling came to see me, and I want to be with him."

Shu Yuqing frowned and looked at Jiang Xin. She didn't understand what her daughter liked about that hoodlum.

But she, who loved her daughter deeply, did not scold Jiang Xin. Instead, she patiently asked, "What do you like about him?"

Jiang Xin said in an innocent tone, "Mom, you don't know how lonely I am at home alone. I don't feel the warmth of home when I come home every day. Yanling came to see me and cooked me a bowl of noodles. It was this bowl of noodles that made me feel at home."

Shu Yuqing was speechless. A bowl of noodles?

Was her daughter, whom she had raised with such care, moved by a bowl of noodles?

Does she even know what kind of life she's living, or that she has everything that so many people envy?

Shu Yuqing suddenly felt dizzy and couldn't believe what she had heard.

Suppressing her anger, Shu Yuqing asked her in bewilderment, "Your father bought you a house, your brother bought you a car, and we were so afraid that you would suffer. Don't you feel the warmth of your family?"

Jiang Xin pouted in dissatisfaction and muttered softly, "These are all cold, lifeless objects. How can they compare to a bowl of steaming hot noodles? That's the kind of life I want."

Then Jiang Xin tearfully recounted how oppressive her life was in the Ye family and how terrified she was by her mother's discipline. She spoke of her pain and sorrow with tears streaming down her face, as if Shu Yuqing were a vicious villain.

No matter how Shu Yuqing analyzed the pros and cons with her, she stubbornly insisted on Yanling.

And because he opposed the relationship, he became Jiang Xin's enemy.

Yanling even threatened to peel off a layer of her own skin.

Shu Yuqing still remembers that bowl of noodles with plain broth, without any toppings or seasonings.

That ordinary bowl of noodles became a testament to Jiang Xin and Yan Ling's love.

This time, Shu Yuqing didn't restrict her from doing anything at all, and she no longer needed to suppress herself. However, this time Shu Yuqing wouldn't cover for her anymore. Since she had chosen to fall into depravity, then let her go.

The bond between them as mother and daughter had been severed in the previous life. In this life, she would not worry about her anymore. A sapling that is rotten from the root will never grow into a towering tree.
