Chapter 108 Factory Inspection

A stock investor looked at the changes on the panel and was immediately alarmed. Standard Chartered Bank's stock price soared, with a large number of buy orders appearing.

Many Standard Chartered shareholders were immediately tempted by the price and sold their shares.

Lloyds Bank of the UK was quick to react, but each time they made a move, Standard Chartered Bank would raise its price to snatch up the shares, showing strong momentum and a very determined fighting spirit.

As the saying goes, "With grain in hand, one has nothing to fear!"

This is the case with the Standard Chartered Bank alliance.

However, these things were not important to Zhao Ye.

Currently, he is focused on developing DRAM memory and EDA chip design software.

The primary role of banks for businesses is to facilitate financing and lending. However, Wujiang Group's profitability is very strong, so its current need for banks is not particularly strong.

Furthermore, Standard Chartered Bank's shareholding is dispersed, making it difficult for Wujiang Group to acquire a larger stake.

Zhao Ye prefers to own a wholly-owned bank and then develop it into a full-fledged financial group, with Standard Chartered Bank potentially becoming its subsidiary.

In July, the weather in Shanghai is quite hot.

Both the battery production line and the LCD production line have been installed and debugged.

Both factories are now in large-scale mass production.

Wearing a sun hat, Zhao Ye walked across the empty road and entered the factory to inspect the production situation.

The battery factory has 521 employees, and the LCD factory has 325 employees.

The battery factory mainly produces alkaline AAA and AA batteries. AAA batteries are slightly smaller than AA batteries, with dimensions of 44.0mm in height and 10.0mm in diameter. They are mostly used in remote controls and other applications where size is limited but power consumption is not too high. They are also used in flashlights, but mostly in combination of multiple batteries.

AA batteries, battery dimensions: height 49.0mm, diameter 14.0mm, are commonly used in electric shavers, electronic toys, digital devices, etc.

Wujiang Group's pagers use AAA batteries, while their handheld game consoles use AA batteries.

Currently, the monthly production of No. 7 batteries is as high as 4.5 million units, and the monthly production of No. 5 batteries is as high as 5.5 million units. For the time being, it can not only supply the battery needs of Wujiang Group, but also be sold to other companies.

Wujiang Group's battery factory uses advanced battery production lines, producing high-quality batteries that are highly competitive both domestically and internationally.

Wujiang Group has always preferred to compete for business overseas, so most of these batteries are exported abroad.

With its high quality and affordable price, it has a strong market presence overseas and can completely seize market share from Japanese battery manufacturers.

There's no way around it; Chinese workers' wages are too low, and raw materials are abundant. Unlike Japan, which has a small area, infertile land, and relies on imports for all its raw materials, Japanese workers' wages are dozens of times higher than those in China. As a result, Japanese batteries are more expensive and cannot compete with Wujiang Group at all.

If Panasonic knew that Wujiang Group was preparing to compete with it overseas, it would probably regret selling its battery production line to them in the first place.

Wujiang LCD Factory can currently only produce TN LCD panels. Although foreign countries have begun large-scale research and application of STN LCD technology, TN LCD technology is still relatively advanced in China.

The existence of Wujiang LCD factory can reduce the large-scale import of TN LCD panels in China. In fact, TN LCD panels have a wide range of applications, including:

Consumer electronics: such as digital cameras, camcorder displays, GPS displays, and other portable displays;

Home appliances: color televisions, air conditioners, audio equipment, and other home appliances and displays;

Instrumentation: Automotive dashboard displays, monitors, and other types of instrument displays;

Tools: Laptops, desktop computer monitors, netbook monitors, etc.

It can be said that the market potential of TN LCDs is enormous, and demand exceeds supply.

The TN LCD production line that Wujiang bought from Sharp is a 12-inch LCD panel production line with a monthly output of 60,000 glass substrates. One substrate can be cut into eight 32-inch panels for use in televisions or computer monitors. Of course, the glass substrates can also be cut into smaller panels for use in handheld game consoles, mobile phones, and pagers.

...

...

After inspecting the battery factory, Zhao Ye said to several battery experts, including Chen Liquan, Tang Weiping, and Wu Shousong: "There are many directions for the development of batteries, but our Wujiang Battery Factory is betting on lithium batteries. All future R&D funds will be invested in lithium battery research, and we will strive to produce results as soon as possible!"

Wu Shousong said, "Boss, isn't this too risky... If we go all in, what if lithium batteries don't have a future? Then the gap between our battery factory and other companies will become very large. Many factories are working on several R&D directions at the same time to ensure that their technology can keep up with the forefront of the times!"

Zhao Ye smiled and explained, "I know that, but we don't have time to research multiple directions at the same time. We already have a shortage of talent and lag behind in technology. If we don't take a gamble, how can we catch up with Europe, America, Japan, and South Korea? Let's just concentrate all our efforts on researching lithium batteries. Whether we succeed or not, we'll leave it to fate!"

Chen Liquan was the first person among them to study lithium batteries. He was known as the "Father of Lithium Batteries" in his previous life. He felt that lithium batteries had a very promising future and said, "The prospects for lithium batteries are very big. I believe that human will can overcome nature. As long as we keep working hard to research, we will definitely succeed!"

“Yes, Dr. Chen is right! I believe we can succeed!” Zhao Ye gave Chen Liquan an encouraging and approving look.

In fact, no one understands the future prospects of lithium batteries better than Zhao Ye.

He's the real expert!

P.S.: There's one more chapter coming up, and it's quite long.
