Chapter Twelve: The Pain Points of Typists

Unlike traditional mechanical Chinese character typewriters, word processors are a new type of electronic typewriter. They have basic functions such as text input, output, storage, and editing, and are equipped with a display screen so that users can see if there are any errors in the characters they type and correct them in time.

Therefore, Imagination Technology's new project was finalized: Zhao Ye would create a high-quality, low-cost Chinese processing machine. Fortunately, the technology of the Chinese character card could also be applied to this Chinese processor, saving Zhao Ye a lot of development time.

...

Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Ni Annan and others borrowed an Imagination Chinese Character Card from another unit.

After installing it on my computer and testing it out, I was amazed by the word association function of the Imagination Chinese Character Card.

After taking it apart and examining it, everyone was surprised again.

The structural layout and wiring design impressed everyone.

"Old Ni, Zhao Ye is a true genius. The Chinese character card he developed is a work of art. The motherboard design is absolutely perfect. He has applied the technology to its fullest potential with the existing hardware. It's truly admirable!" a researcher in the team exclaimed.

Ni Annan nodded and sighed, "Yes, that's really amazing!"

"Old Ni, if we develop the Chinese character card ourselves, it will take at least three months. However, if we learn from Zhao Ye's invention, we can shorten the development time to within one month!!!"

"Referencing" is a nice-sounding way of saying it; in reality, it's just copying.

Ni Annan understood his meaning perfectly and shook her head in refusal: "No way!!! This is neither respectful to the other party nor legal. As members of the Academy of Sciences, how can we do such a thing!"

China's first Patent Law officially came into effect on April 1, 1985. Therefore, there is currently no patent law in China, and even if someone copies another's work, it's not illegal. Some researchers in China are not very knowledgeable about patent law, but Ni Annan has studied abroad and understands it, and he knows that China will eventually implement a patent law.

If the Chinese Academy of Sciences plagiarizes other people's designs and technologies, it won't look good if it gets exposed later...
