Chapter 11 New Ideas

"Xuehui, you're here too..."

Zhou Changgui, sporting a black eye, was extremely annoyed: "Last night I went to... I went to Aunt Zhang's house nearby to borrow a bicycle, but I ended up getting beaten up like this. He hurt me terribly."

Zhou Changgui, who almost let slip the secret, naturally didn't see the cold smile on Jiang Sheng's lips as he rode his bicycle and kept talking to Zhao Xuehui.

Looking at the face of the person she had always admired, now covered in tears, and who was crying to her without any regard for appearances.

Zhao Xuehui opened her mouth, but didn't know what to say, so she could only say dryly, "Don't say anything, we're almost at the hospital, hang in there."

Since Zhou Changgui was someone she had some feelings for, Zhao Xuehui subconsciously stepped forward and covered him with the sheet next to her.

"Xuehui..."

Zhou Changgui subconsciously reached out, wanting to touch Zhao Xuehui's hand, but he withdrew it as soon as he did.

No, this woman is very conservative; I shouldn't scare her any further!

Thinking this, Zhou Changgui changed the subject and glanced at Jiang Sheng's back as he rode his bicycle.

"Your brother is so good. If it weren't for your brother helping me... ouch!"

They happened to pass through a rough stretch of road, and Zhou Changgui felt as if his heart, liver, and lungs were about to be shaken out; he felt so uncomfortable that he was about to die.

Zhou Changgui only breathed a sigh of relief when the tricycle stopped at the hospital entrance.

“Mr. Zhou,” Jiang Sheng stepped forward with concern, “shall I help you to the hospital?”

"No need, no need!"

Zhou Changgui quickly took a step back, then realized he had spoken too quickly and awkwardly explained, "I won't trouble you. The doctors are all here; let them carry me in on a stretcher."

This is really weird. Jiang Sheng is deliberately showing up to bring him bad luck!

Zhou Changgui kept his distance from Jiang Sheng, and Jiang Sheng did not force him, watching as the doctor carried Zhou Changgui away.

It wasn't until the doctor told them that Zhou Changgui's injuries weren't serious and that some more IV drips would bring down his fever that they learned he was out of danger.

Zhao Xuehui breathed a sigh of relief, glanced at the weak man lying on the hospital bed, and was about to take a step forward.

Jiang Sheng followed Zhao Xuehui and gently held his second sister's hand.

"Second sister, we've already taken her to the hospital and done everything we could. You should hurry home; you need to go to work after we eat."

Zhao Xuehui quickly stopped, a look of confusion on her face, only then realizing that she had almost given herself away.

"Then, let's go back and eat first."

Zhao Xuehui awkwardly brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and hurriedly followed Jiang Sheng back, but her heart was already set on the hospital.

Seeing that her second sister had followed her back, but seemed distracted.

Jiang Sheng pretended not to see it until he got home and found that his older sister had already prepared the meal.

"Has the person been taken to the hospital? Is he alright?"

Jiang Sheng slowly sat back down at the table, but his words were pointed: "They're doing fine, but Second Sister, I feel like you're a little special to that Zhou Changgui?"

Zhao Nianmeng paused with her chopsticks, then glanced at Zhao Xuehui sitting next to her, who looked guilty, and subtly picked up a piece of food with her chopsticks.

"Don't pry into your second sister's affairs, and Xuehui as well," Zhao Nianmeng said with a warning in her eyes, glancing at Zhao Xuehui, "I know you don't want us to get involved in your affairs, but you should be careful."

Faced with her elder sister's scolding, Zhao Xuehui said impatiently, "I know, elder sister..."

Despite her words, Zhao Xuehui's face showed a hint of resentment and a barely perceptible rebelliousness.

Jiang Sheng sensed this and thought to himself that something was wrong.

No, my second sister has always been someone who likes to do the opposite of what others do, plus she has a rebellious personality.

The more others oppose something, the more determined she is to do it.

To be honest, my second sister didn't particularly like Zhou Changgui to begin with. It was just because of her rebellious nature that she fell deeper and deeper into his trap, which led to the ending she had in her previous life.

Jiang Sheng quickly changed the subject and personally served Zhao Xuehui a bowl of soup.

"Let's not talk about this for now. Second sister, hurry up and drink your soup. I think we're going to be late!"

It would have been better if this hadn't been mentioned. But as soon as this was brought up, Zhao Xuehui glanced at the clock in the house and hurriedly grabbed a steamed bun to start eating the vegetables.

"Oh no, I'm going to be late!"

After quickly finishing her meal and gulping down a bowl of soup, Zhao Xuehui waved to the two of them while holding a bag.

"Big sister, Xiaosheng, you guys eat first, I'm going to work now!"

After Zhao Xuehui left, only Jiang Sheng and his eldest sister Zhao Nianmeng remained at home.

While eating, Zhao Nianmeng kept thinking about the reform of state-owned enterprises.

Hongxing Steel Rolling Mill is a state-owned enterprise, and its production has been quite good in previous years.

However, due to the recent restructuring, the factory has been experiencing instability and various problems.

Zhao Nianmeng was extremely busy at the factory, but when she got home, she couldn't let her two younger siblings notice anything was wrong. Her face also looked a bit haggard because she hadn't been sleeping well.

"Big sister," Jiang Sheng considerately ladled a bowl of soup for Zhao Nianmeng, "I've noticed you haven't been sleeping well lately, something must have happened at the factory, right?"

Jiang Sheng asked this question yesterday, but Zhao Nianmeng just gave a casual answer to brush it off.

When Jiang Sheng asked her that question again today, Zhao Nianmeng looked up at her younger brother and sighed helplessly.

“I see that Xiaosheng, you’ve grown up and can earn some money on your own. The factory has been having some problems lately, but it’s not something you can figure out on your own. Study hard and don’t worry too much about money. Your older sister and second sister will be able to help you solve it in the future.”

Jiang Sheng was touched, but he also knew that his older sister only regarded him as a child and had not fully opened her heart to him, so he could only nod in agreement.

"I understand, don't worry, big sister. I'm just working part-time during the summer vacation. I'll definitely study hard when school starts."

A warm feeling welled up in Jiang Sheng's heart. He quickly finished his meal, said goodbye to his older sister, and took advantage of the fact that he wasn't busy in the morning to hurry to the wholesale market.

Compared to yesterday, Jiang Sheng arrived a little late today.

At least half of the morning market hours have passed, but he doesn't expect to make all his money selling socks today.

Now that he's decided to buy canned goods, he should start promoting the canned goods business today.

As usual, Jiang Sheng went to the same wholesale shop as yesterday and bought another 100 yuan worth of socks.

However, after he finished wholesaling the socks, he didn't go to the stall from yesterday immediately. Instead, he went directly to the nearby supply and marketing cooperative to check out the various prices of canned goods.
