Chapter 169 Past Events

After breakfast, everyone rested for a while and then got on the bus to Licheng.

"Jinyue, take a nap. Mom will call you at noon." Lin Suwen looked at Su Jinyue and said. The child must be exhausted after staying up all night.

Su Jinyue smiled and leaned her head on Lin Suwen's shoulder, "I just practiced for a while and I'm not tired anymore. Mom! How did you and Dad meet?" She was very interested in the stories of her parents when they were young.

Lin Suwen glanced at Su Lihe in the passenger seat and smiled with nostalgia, "We met because your father saved me."

"I want to know, can mom tell me?" Su Jinyue blinked and looked at Lin Suwen with anticipation.

Lin Suwen smiled and tapped Su Jinyue's pretty nose. After a moment's thought, she said, "Back then, Mom was still in Miaojiang. It's a very beautiful place with picturesque scenery. But behind that beauty lies a terrifying thing. The Miaojiang are good at raising Gu worms. Have you heard of Gu worms?"

Su Jinyue nodded. "Legend has it that the method for making Gu worms is to place various highly toxic insects in a sealed jar and let them fight each other inside the jar. The one that survives is called a Gu."

"That's right. Mom not only raised Gu, but was also lucky enough to get a golden cicada larva. Later, I don't know how the news leaked out. Many people wanted to get the golden cicada larva in Mom's hands. They tried all kinds of means, but in the end I was ambushed. Your father happened to come to Miaojiang to collect herbs at that time, and he saved me." Thinking of that past event, Lin Suwen still feels thrilling. If she hadn't met Li He, no one could have saved her.

"Was the cicada larvae stolen?" Su Jinyue asked.

Lin Suwen nodded, a hint of sadness in her eyes, "It was taken away by my own sister." If it was someone else, she could accept it, but the person who hurt her was someone related to her by blood, it was really hard for her to accept.

Su Jinyue couldn't help but frowned, "Is she still alive?"

Lin Suwen shook her head. "She was also instructed by someone. When she took the cicada larvae back, that person killed her without mercy. I only found out about it later." When she learned of her sister's death, she let go of her hatred for her. Of course, she wouldn't bother with a dead person.

Su Jinyue reached out and took Lin Suwen's hand. "I'm sorry, Mom! I reminded you of something sad." She could feel her mother's pain. Although she and Song Yiren weren't biological sisters, they were not much different from real sisters. When she found out that Song Yiren had framed her, she was heartbroken. Fortunately, she still had a chance for revenge, but her mother was gone.

"It's okay, it's all in the past." Lin Suwen smiled and shook her head, "Let's get back to the topic. Mom will tell you the story of how your father and I met."

"Yeah!" Su Jinyue nodded with a smile.

"After your father saved me..." Lin Suwen spoke slowly, completely immersed in memories.

The car was driving fast on the road, and everyone was on their way except for stopping to eat.

The next day, when the sun just rose, the car had already entered Licheng.

After arriving at the previously arranged residence, Su Jinyue talked to everyone for a while, then left for Shangxin Village.

Xu Tiansheng walked towards home with a pile of vegetables in his hand, his face full of joy. Thinking that Jin Yue would be back today, he felt particularly happy. He hadn't seen her for almost half a month, and he didn't know if she had lost weight or gained weight.

"Doctor Xu, why did you buy so many vegetables? Are you having guests?" Mrs. Liu asked curiously when she saw Xu Tiansheng carrying so many vegetables. These vegetables were not cheap, and she wondered who the guests were.

"Jin Yue is coming back today." Xu Tiansheng said happily.

"I haven't seen Doctor Su for a long time. I heard she went to Beijing to see the world. How enviable!" Mrs. Liu said with envy. She had lived for most of her life and had never even left Licheng.

"I'm done talking to you. I have to go back and cook. Jinyue will be home by noon," Xu Tiansheng said, heading towards the clinic. Aside from treating patients, he didn't usually enjoy talking to the villagers. It wasn't because he looked down on them, but rather because he was just that way.

"Okay, see you later." Mrs. Liu smiled and walked towards the Zhan family. She had to tell Meizhen that her future daughter-in-law was coming back.

Wang Meizhen was drying clothes in the yard when she heard a knock on the door. "Oh! They're here." She hung the clothes in her hands on a bamboo pole and walked forward to open the door.

Seeing that the person outside the door was Mrs. Liu, Wang Meizhen smiled and stepped aside, "Juying, come in and sit down." Yang Juying often came to visit her home, and the two had a very good relationship.

Wang Meizhen walked into the house and moved two small stools to the door. The sun was shining brightly today, perfect for basking in the sun.

Mrs. Liu was not polite and sat down next to Wang Meizhen. She dug a handful of melon seeds from her pocket and handed half to Wang Meizhen. "I just met Doctor Xu on the road. He said your eldest daughter-in-law will be back today."

"I know. Doctor Xu told me yesterday that Yihan asked Jinyue to bring me something. It's hard for that kid to come all the way back to give me something," Wang Meizhen said while cracking some sunflower seeds. She was truly very satisfied with Jinyue, her future daughter-in-law.

"What is it? Can't it be mailed?" asked Mrs. Liu.

"It's said to be a large item and cannot be mailed." Wang Meizhen said with a smile.

"Big items? They can't be home appliances, right? I went to my cousin's house a while ago and saw that he bought a TV. I was so envious. I wish I could have a TV someday. I would wake up laughing in my dreams." Mrs. Liu spit out the melon seed shell in her mouth and put another melon seed in.

"TVs are so expensive, how can I afford one?" Wang Meizhen shook her head and laughed.

As he was speaking, he heard another knock on the gate. He stood up and opened the gate. He saw Su Jinyue standing outside with an ox cart behind her.

"Aunt Zhan!" Su Jinyue greeted Wang Meizhen with a smile.

Wang Meizhen came back to her senses and asked in surprise, "Jinyue, did you just get home?"

Su Jinyue smiled and nodded, pointing to the ox cart behind her, "Aunt Zhan, Yihan asked me to bring some things back for you. I'll have them help you move them into the house."

Mrs. Liu came out after hearing the voice. After hearing Su Jinyue's words, she looked at the oxcart outside and saw that it was piled full of things. Her eyes widened in disbelief. How much money must this be worth!
