Chapter 195: Cheap

Su Jinyue opened her mouth, shook her head, and sighed. She had originally wanted to call her back and ask her to put the food down, but then she thought better of it. There was no point in arguing with someone like that.

After taking a look at the vegetable patch where a large piece of land had been dug up, Su Jinyue shook her head and walked inside.

Li Chun'e walked into the house carrying a basket of vegetables and put the basket on the table with an unhappy look on her face.

"Mom, what's wrong? Who made you unhappy again?" Guo Feng, who was eating, saw this and asked in confusion.

"The little girl next door, I saw it was a waste to leave the vegetables in their yard, so I thought I'd pick them to save them the trouble. But who would have thought that little girl wouldn't know what was good and what was bad, and actually scolded me." Li Chun'e grew angrier and angrier as she spoke. It was just a few vegetables, wasn't it? She could even afford a house, and what was she missing?

"Mom, can you please change your habit of being a cheapskate?" Guo Feng sighed helplessly. His mother had some minor conflicts with the neighbors because of her greed for cheap things. She didn't notice it herself, but when they went out, people pointed at them and they were always embarrassed.

"Why are you so ungrateful, kid? Do you think I'm being cheap? I'm being thrifty, okay? Think about it, if I weren't the head of the household, how could I have saved money for you to get married? How could I have raised you to this age? Don't you remember how hard your family was when you were young? If I hadn't taken a penny and used it twice, would you be where you are today? Would you be able to work at the police station?" Li Chun'e angrily brought up old matters.

"Mom, please stop talking. Isn't it good enough that I was wrong? You're right, you're right, you're all right," Guo Feng begged, feeling a bit overwhelmed. What he couldn't stand the most was her nagging. If he wasn't satisfied, she would keep reciting like a mantra.

"I don't know what the relationship is between the two men and one woman next door. You can tell at a glance that they are not decent people. Just stay away from them in the future, okay?" Li Chun'e picked up the basket on the table and walked towards the kitchen.

Guo Feng shook his head helplessly. Hearing the noisy sound coming from outside, he picked up the bowl and walked out.

Li Chun'e also heard the sound, came out of the kitchen and followed him out.

When I came outside, I saw four workers moving furniture to the yard next door.

"Oh! These furniture must cost a lot of money."

"This new family seems to be rich."

"Those two young men are so handsome. I wonder if they have married yet." The neighbors around saw this scene and talked about it with some envy.

Li Chun'e rolled her eyes and walked towards the Su Yanyue brothers who were directing at the door.

"Brothers, I'm Aunt Li from next door. You bought so many new furniture. Do you still want those old ones?" Li Chun'e asked with a smile.

Just as Su Yanxi was about to speak, Su Jinyue walked out.

"Big brother! Second brother!" Su Jinyue walked to Su Yanxi and the other one, and couldn't help frowning when she saw Li Chun'e standing beside them.

Noticing Su Jinyue's expression, Su Yanxi knew that she didn't have a very good impression of Li Chun'e. He turned to look at Li Chun'e and said, "The old furniture has been sold to the furniture collector." He didn't know what had happened between his younger sister and Li Chun'e, but as long as his younger sister didn't like someone, he wouldn't like them either.

"Have you sold them all? You probably haven't sold the small stool yet, have you? You won't need it anyway, so just give it to me." Li Chun'e said, unwilling to give up. She could use even the wood chips to burn in the fire, let alone the small stool.

"Let's go in." Su Jinyue said. She really hated people like Li Chun'e.

"Yeah!" Su Yanyue and Su Yanxi nodded, turned around and walked into the house. At this time, they also knew why their younger sister hated Li Chun'e, and they also didn't like such people.

Seeing that Su Jinyue and the other two ignored her, Li Chun'e's face flushed with anger, and she pouted at the door, "What's so great about it? I don't even care."

"Some people are just so shameless, as if no one owes them anything." Aunt Wang said with disapproval.

"If you have something to say, just say it directly. Don't be so indirect. Do you think I can't hear that you are talking about me?" After hearing Aunt Wang's words, Li Chun'e seemed to have found a punching bag. She quickly ran to Aunt Wang and pointed at her and started scolding her.

Aunt Wang was no pushover either. She put her hands on her hips and cursed back, "I'm talking about you. You're already old, but you always think of taking advantage of other people. Please return the rolling pin you borrowed from my house last time. I was too embarrassed to ask you for it, but you thought it was a blessing." She had tolerated Li Chun'e for a long time. If she hadn't thought that they were all neighbors, she would have turned against her long ago.

"When did I ever ask you to borrow a rolling pin? Don't tell me such nonsense. My son is a policeman. If you frame me, you'll go to jail." Li Chun'e threatened Aunt Wang. After all, what she got was hers.

"You don't admit it, right?" Aunt Wang sneered and looked at the neighbors who were watching the excitement. "Neighbors, tell me, have you ever lent her anything that she hasn't returned?"

"Of course she has. She lent my family a bag of sugar last time and hasn't returned it yet."

"She hasn't even returned the kitchen knife in my house."

"She came to my house last time to borrow a pound of rice, and it's been almost two months now, and she hasn't even mentioned it." Everyone was talking back and forth. It was like a denunciation meeting.

Guo Feng's face flushed as he listened. He knew his mother loved taking advantage, but he hadn't expected her to spare almost every family. No wonder these neighbors always looked at him with disdain.

Walking forward, Guo Feng pulled Li Chun'e, who was shaking with anger, and said, "Mom, go back to the house."

Li Chun'e snorted and turned to walk back inside. She thought that after so long, everyone would have forgotten what she had borrowed from them, but she didn't expect them to remember. However, she would never return the item, and besides, it wasn't a big deal.

After Li Chun'e entered the house, Guo Feng looked at everyone present and said, "Dear neighbors, I'm so sorry! Please tell me what my mother borrowed and I will buy it and return it to you." He knew his mother best. Asking her to return the borrowed things was like asking her to die.

"Xiao Guo, it's actually not a big deal. It's just your mother's habit of being cheap. We neighbors really can't stand it." Aunt Wang said.

"Exactly. You don't know. Two days ago, your mother went to the market to buy vegetables. She broke the leaves of the vegetables until only the core was left. The boss almost got into a fight with her."

"The vegetable vendors in the market are now annoyed when they see your mother. They would rather not do business with her."

After hearing what everyone said, Guo Feng really wanted to find a hole to crawl into. "I understand. I will persuade my mother. Thank you all for your kindness. Please also tell me about the things you lent to my family. It's not good to keep not returning them."
