Chapter 20 Holding Hands

As soon as Su Jinyue's hand touched Zhan Yihan's, she felt a surge of electricity running through her fingertips. A tingling sensation, a tingling sensation, shot straight to her heart. She hurriedly withdrew her hand. In her previous life, she and Mo Feiheng had held hands more than once or twice, but she had never felt this electric shock.

Zhan Yihan shuddered, looking down at Su Jinyue's hand. Though it was only for a moment, he clearly felt the tingling, soft, and smooth sensation. It made him want to hold her hand and feel it for himself.

Su Jinyue's heart raced uncontrollably when she noticed Zhan Yihan's gaze on her hand. Why was he looking at her hand? Was she angry because she touched his hand? He wasn't that petty.

Looking at Su Jinyue's slender, white, and delicate hands, as delicate as jade, Zhan Yihan's Adam's apple rolled. He reached out and held Su Jinyue's hand. "The mountain road below is a bit steep. It will be safer if I hold you." He turned his head and looked forward, his earlobes quietly red. He knew that his reason was far-fetched, but the feeling of holding her hand was so good that he couldn't bear to let go. Her hands were so small, so soft, and so comfortable to hold.

Su Jinyue was stunned for a moment, and a faint smile slowly spread across her lips. He held her hand, did it mean that he also liked her?

Seeing that Su Jinyue didn't pull her hand away, Zhan Yihan's lips curled up slightly. This was the first time he had ever held a girl's hand. He was inevitably a little nervous, but mostly happy.

"Brother Yihan, are you this nice to every girl?" Su Jinyue couldn't help but ask. There was an art troupe in the army, and nurses in the military hospital. He had been in the army for so many years, it was impossible for him not to come into contact with them. Thinking of this, she felt a sour feeling in her heart.

"No." Zhan Yihan shook his head. He didn't like getting too close to girls, let alone interacting with them. But she was different. In his heart, she was like his own sister.

Su Jinyue smiled brightly, "So I'm special to you?"

Zhan Yihan smiled and nodded, "You and Yiping are both my sisters, so of course you are special."

Su Jinyue's smile froze on her face. Screw his sister, she didn't want to be his sister.

"What's wrong?" Zhan Yihan looked at Su Jinyue in surprise.

"No, let's go." Su Jinyue pulled her hand back and walked quickly forward. Although he had told her last night that he treated her as a sister, she still couldn't help feeling disappointed.

Zhan Yihan looked at his empty hands, frowned, and started chasing after Su Jinyue. Why was she suddenly angry? I didn't think I had said anything wrong.

"Jinyue, are you angry with me?" Zhan Yihan walked forward, grabbed Su Jinyue's hand and asked.

"No." Su Jinyue wanted to pull her hand back, but failed after several attempts. She could only let Zhan Yihan hold her hand.

"Then why did you leave so quickly?" Zhan Yihan asked. He had no experience in coaxing girls and didn't know what to do.

"I want to find the herbs sooner rather than later. I promised Master I'd return home sooner." Su Jinyue sighed helplessly. Forget it, now that she'd already decided on him, whether or not she could make him fall in love with her depended solely on her efforts. At least he hadn't fallen in love with anyone else yet, so she still had a chance.

"It's very dangerous here, I'll go ahead." Zhan Yihan walked in front of Su Jinyue, took her hand and continued to move forward. This mountain was not like Nanshan, where people often came, but a truly barren mountain.

When I was a child, I heard from the old people in the village that a long time ago, there were brave villagers who came to this mountain, but after coming, they never went back.

Yesterday, when Jin Yue said she wanted to come to this mountain to collect herbs, he was adamantly against it. But after finally being unable to persuade her, he decided to go with her today. He also wanted to see how dangerous this mountain really was.

The mountain road is winding and steep, with endless towering ancient trees that are lush and green, and mountain flowers blooming under the trees. A gust of mountain breeze blows, and the branches of the trees sway, bringing with them wisps of refreshing fragrance that makes people intoxicated.

"This place isn't as dangerous as I imagined." Su Jinyue surveyed the surrounding scenery. Although she hadn't gained anything in the morning, the beautiful scenery still made her feel the trip was worthwhile.

"Don't take it lightly." Zhan Yihan narrowed his eagle-like eyes and scanned the surroundings. He always felt that this place was not as peaceful as it seemed.

"Master! I feel a trace of spiritual energy." The little demon's voice, with a hint of excitement, sounded in Su Jinyue's mind.

"Where is it?" Su Jinyue asked in surprise. The presence of spiritual energy meant there were herbs containing spiritual energy. It seemed like this trip hadn't been in vain.

"Right front." said the little demon.

"Brother Yihan, let's go over there." Su Jinyue pointed to the front right and said. If she found the herbs containing spiritual energy, she could go back earlier.

Zhan Yihan looked in the direction Su Jinyue pointed and said, "Follow me." He always felt as if something was staring at them.

"Yeah!" Su Jinyue nodded, her expression becoming more serious. Yihan was a soldier, and his sense of danger was definitely not something she could compare to.

After walking for over half an hour, they saw a small lake not far ahead. Compared to the previous time, they encountered many more dangers along the way, especially poisonous snakes, which they encountered almost every few steps.

Although Su Jinyue carried snake repellent medicine, it wasn't effective against all snakes. Most of the venomous snakes that tried to attack them were dealt with by Zhan Yihan's dagger.

Walking to the small lake, Su Jinyue looked around and said, "Xiao Yao, are you sure this is the place?" There were some medicinal herbs by the lake, but they were all ordinary herbs. They could also be found on the mountain where she often went to collect herbs.

"Although the spiritual energy is very weak, I can be sure that it is here." Xiao Yao said affirmatively.

Su Jinyue walked forward, but still found nothing. However, she believed that Xiao Yao would not lie to her.

Pausing and frowning at the lake in front of her, Su Jinyue suddenly had an idea. Could something containing spiritual energy be in the lake? Xiao Yao had said that spiritual energy wasn't just found in herbs, but also in other things.

"Jin Yue, do you think those are medicinal herbs?" Zhan Yihan asked, pointing to several herbs by the lake with ridged stems, green color, and swollen purple nodes.

Su Jinyue looked in the direction of Zhan Yihan's finger and nodded. "That's Dieda grass. It has the effect of dispersing blood stasis, reducing swelling, setting bones and stopping bleeding." She had just noticed it, and she also found that the herbs by the lake were growing particularly well. She wondered if it was because of the spiritual object.
