Chapter 350: Looking for a Needle in a Haystack

"Okay, that's a deal. Xiaoyun, Yiping, we'll come find you tomorrow morning," Gong Damei said, standing up. As long as they could get Xiaoyun out, they'd figure out how to deal with Yiping tomorrow.

After sending Gong Damei and Gong Ermei away, Gong Xiaoyun returned to the kitchen and saw that Wang Meizhen had already washed all the dishes.

"Are you going out with your eldest sister and the others tomorrow?" Wang Meizhen asked. The main room was right next door, so she could hear everything they just said clearly.

Gong Xiaoyun smiled and nodded, "My eldest sister and second sister said they would buy me clothes." The eldest sister and second sister had never been so nice to her before. Could it be because she was going to get married that they were doing this?

"Be careful about everything and don't trust others too much," Wang Meizhen said. She had a feeling that Gong Damei and the others wouldn't let Xiaoyun go so easily.

"I understand, Aunt Zhan." Gong Xiaoyun nodded in response. Regardless of whether her elder and second sisters bought her clothes or not, she was already very happy that they had the heart to do so.

When Gong Damei and Gong Ermei returned to the Gong family, they immediately went into Old Mrs. Gong's room.

Gong Damei took out the oil-paper bag that Zhan Yifeng gave her from her pocket and handed it to Grandma Gong, "Mom, this is half of the gift money given by the Zhan family, exactly one thousand yuan. My second sister and I have already counted it." Mom had put forward that condition before in order to force Zhan Yifeng and Xiaoyun to separate. She didn't expect that the Zhan family would agree to the conditions put forward by Mom, and they were so willing to give out one thousand yuan.

Even factory workers in the city only earn fifty or sixty yuan a month. The Zhan family was so generous in giving out a thousand yuan, which showed they had some financial resources. I really don't know what kind of luck that little girl had to find a family like the Zhan family.

Old Lady Gong opened the oil-paper bag, spat on her hand, counted the money again, smiled with satisfaction, and wrapped the money again in the oil-paper. "Have you arranged everything for tomorrow?"

"My second sister and I will go find Xiaoyun tomorrow morning and tell her we'll take her to the city to buy her some new clothes. Mother, your money..." Gong Damei pointed to the oil-paper bag in Old Lady Gong's hand. It was they who asked for the betrothal money, so shouldn't mother give them a little bit of a bonus?

Old Mrs. Gong rolled her eyes at Gong Damei, opened the oil-paper package, counted out a hundred yuan, divided it into two parts and handed them to Gong Damei and Gong Ermei, "Don't let your sister-in-law know." Given her daughter-in-law's personality, if she knew that she gave the money to Gong Damei and Gong Ermei, she would definitely make trouble with her.

"Mom, we know," Gong Damei and Gong Ermei replied happily. Fifty was a little, but getting money from their money-hungry mother was incredibly difficult. Besides, fifty was enough to cover their expenses for two months.

Qin Haoran and Fang Shuyi were stunned by the results the police had pulled. In Licheng alone, there were 27 people named He Qingfang. Even excluding the younger and older members, there were still over a dozen. They only had their registered residence and names, no photos at all. Finding the He Qingfang they knew was like searching for a needle in a haystack.

"How are we going to find so many He Qingfangs?" Fang Shuyi looked at Qin Haoran. Were they going to look for them one by one? What if none of them were the same? Those were chaotic times, with people from all over the place. Who knew if the He Qingfang they knew was actually from Licheng?

Qin Haoran shook his head and sighed, "I can only search slowly." He had to find his biological daughter, unless she was no longer alive. Suddenly, he thought of the girl he had met at Qingliang Temple. That girl, Gong Xiaoyun, looked somewhat like him and his wife, and he felt a sense of familiarity towards her. Could she be their daughter?

He immediately dismissed the speculation. How could such a coincidence happen in the world? He just met a random girl and she turned out to be his daughter.

"Let's go back." Fang Shuyi said. Yaoyao was sick now, and she was always worried.

"Yeah." Qin Haoran nodded. He knew his wife must be worried about Yaoyao. After knowing that Yaoyao was not his biological daughter, his feelings towards her were very complicated. He still liked her, but the thought that his biological daughter was born because of her mother made him feel disgusted. He could no longer love Yaoyao as unconditionally as he had in the past.

When they returned home, they saw Qin Mengyao standing at the door looking around.

"Yaoyao, why are you standing here?" Fang Shuyi walked quickly to Qin Mengyao. When she left, she had clearly told Aunt Zhang to take good care of Yaoyao. How could she let Yaoyao stand at the door? It was so cold that she must have caught a cold.

"Mom, I just had a nightmare. I dreamed that you and Dad didn't want me anymore. I was so scared!" Qin Mengyao hugged Fang Shuyi with a look of horror and helplessness on her face.

Fang Shuyi's heart tightened, and she patted Qin Mengyao's back with a distressed look on her face. "Silly child, you are our baby, how could we not want you? Dreams are always the opposite, don't worry."

"But I get so scared when I think about that dream. I'm so worried that my parents don't want me." Qin Mengyao said, shedding helpless tears.

"Stop thinking too much and let's go into the house first. It's so cold outside and your parents will be worried if you catch a cold." Fang Shuyi reached out to wipe away the tears from the corners of Qin Mengyao's eyes and took her hand and walked into the house.

Qin Haoran looked at Qin Mengyao thoughtfully. Could it be that she really had such a dream?

After sending Qin Mengyao back to her room, Fang Shuyi comforted her for a long time before Qin Mengyao regained her composure. "Mom asked Aunt Zhang to make some Tremella porridge for you. You can watch TV for a while."

"Mom, can you talk to me for a while?" Qin Mengyao pulled Fang Shuyi, with a hint of fear in her eyes.

Fang Shuyi sighed in her heart and reached out to hold Qin Mengyao's hand, "Mom and Dad will take you back to grandma's house tomorrow. Grandma called this morning and said she missed you very much." As for her biological daughter, it would be best if she could find her. If not, then forget it. Maybe she was not destined to be with her.

Qin Mengyao leaned her head on Fang Shuyi's shoulder and said coquettishly, "I miss grandma too, and grandpa, uncle, aunt, cousin, and cousin. I miss them all." Now she wanted to take her parents as far away as possible, and when she was sure that Old Lady Gong had gotten rid of Gong Xiaoyun, she would come back with her parents. Her parents would always be hers, and as for Gong Xiaoyun, even if she didn't die, she would never see her parents again in this life.

Fang Shuyi smiled and tapped Qin Mengyao's nose. "I think you're thinking about the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall that grandma made, right?"

"Mom found out?" Qin Mengyao stuck out her tongue mischievously.

"What a little foodie," Fang Shuyi said with a smile. How could she not want such a good daughter?
