In the dense woods, a dozen soldiers were hiding in the grass.
Zhan Yihan lay motionless, his eagle-like eyes fixed on the front, waiting for his prey to arrive. After learning that Su Jinyue had been injured while collecting herbs, he had taken leave, intending to go back and see her, but unexpectedly received a last-minute mission. He wondered how Jinyue was doing now? Was her injury serious?
Seeing movement in the woods ahead, Zhan Yihan raised his hand and made a gesture to the surrounding soldiers to prepare for action.
Soon, more than a dozen men in ordinary clothes, dressed somewhat like farmers, walked out of the woods.
The man in the lead was tall and strong, exuding a cold and bloodthirsty aura. It was obvious that he was not an ordinary character.
"Brother Wei, we can make a killing this time." Wang Jie, who was following Yang Zhengwei, excitedly glanced at the black cloth bag in his hand. They were all desperate criminals, willing to take risks to live a superior life. Every once in a while, they would smuggle a batch of arms into the Golden Triangle and trade with other forces.
"As long as you are willing to work hard, you will definitely get the benefits." Yang Zhengwei said proudly.
"Of course we believe in Brother Wei. If it weren't for Brother Wei leading us out, we wouldn't be living the life we have today, right, brothers?"
"Of course! Following Brother Wei, we have meat to eat, wine to drink, and women to sleep with, hahahaha..."
Seeing that Yang Zhengwei and his group had entered their encirclement, Zhan Yihan raised his hand and made a gesture for action, and the soldiers hiding in the grass immediately rushed towards Yang Zhengwei and his group.
"There's an ambush! Run!" Yang Zhengwei noticed something was wrong immediately and shouted to everyone, then quickly turned and ran in the direction they came from. This place was not far from the border, and as long as he ran across the border, he would be safe.
Zhan Yihan saw Yang Zhengwei running into the woods and quickly followed him. They had been lying in ambush here for two days, just to catch Yang Zhengwei, so how could they let him escape?
When Yang Zhengwei heard footsteps behind him, he quickly found a tree and hid behind it. He took out his gun and fired several shots at Zhan Yihan who was following him.
Zhan Yihan was agile. He rolled on the ground to avoid Yang Zhengwei's shooting, then quickly hid behind a tree and took out his gun and aimed it in the direction of Yang Zhengwei.
The two men were in a stalemate, shooting at each other from time to time.
"Damn it!" Yang Zhengwei found that his gun was out of bullets. He threw it away angrily and pulled out a dagger from his waist. He should have carried more bullets with him.
Zhan Yihan carefully counted the number of shots fired by Yang Zhengwei. After making sure that the other party had no bullets left, he jumped out from behind the tree and rushed towards Yang Zhengwei like a cheetah.
Seeing this, Yang Zhengwei immediately turned and ran. He was not sure if Zhan Yihan still had bullets in his gun, and he could only be safe if he ran across the border.
"If you take another step, I'll shoot," Zhan Yihan warned Yang Zhengwei in a deep voice, pointing his gun at him. He only had one bullet left.
Yang Zhengwei pretended not to hear anything and continued running forward. He was betting that Zhan Yihan's gun was empty.
"Bang!" Zhan Yihan pulled the trigger.
"Ugh!" Yang Zhengwei was shot in the leg and stumbled to the ground. A glint of cruelty and unwillingness flashed in his eyes. It wouldn't be easy to catch him.
Zhan Yihan stepped forward, a dagger with a cold flash quickly attacked him, he dodged and took a step back, at the same time kicked out, towards Yang Zhengwei's face. As the kick hit Yang Zhengwei, he quickly rushed forward, clamped Yang Zhengwei's hands, and pressed him to the ground.
Yang Zhengwei struggled, but could not break free from Zhan Yihan's control, and could only surrender unwillingly.
Zhan Yihan escorted Yang Zhengwei back to the place where they had ambushed him before. Seeing that the soldiers had already controlled Yang Zhengwei's accomplices, a satisfied smile appeared on his lips, "Let's pack up!" After completing the mission, he could go back to see Jin Yue.
Su Jinyue opened her eyes and picked up the book from the cabinet. After a few days of practice, she could see through things for more than a minute.
After looking at the clock on the wall and memorizing the time, Su Jinyue concentrated on the book in her hand. Slowly, the cover became transparent, and the contents inside were clearly presented in front of her.
Su Jinyue didn't look away until her eyes were sore. She turned to look at the clock on the wall and smiled happily, "It's almost two minutes now."
"Master has now reached the critical point of the first level of Wisdom Eye. Once you break through to the second level, your clairvoyance will be able to last for five minutes. However, you must have sufficient spiritual energy to break through to the second level."
Su Jinyue nodded happily. "In a couple of days I'll go to the mountains to look for spiritual herbs." Her leg injury had almost healed after her master's treatment, and she could walk without pain. Although her injuries were severe, they were superficial, not bone-wrecking. Otherwise, she would have been bedridden for at least three months.
After making the decision, Su Jinyue got out of bed immediately. She had to make some preparations before going up the mountain. The first thing she had to do was exercise. She had been in bed almost all the time these days, and her physical strength was not as good as before.
Seeing Su Jinyue coming out of the room, Song Yiren turned her head away. She and Jinyue hadn't spoken to each other in the past few days. Although she wanted to reconcile with Jinyue, she didn't want to speak first.
Su Jinyue glanced at Song Yiren and walked out. Song Yiren hadn't turned bad yet, but she couldn't let go of what she had done to her in her past life.
"Doctor Su, are you healed?"
"Doctor Su, please be careful when you go to collect herbs in the future." Seeing Su Jinyue, the villagers greeted her one after another.
"Yes! Thank you!" Su Jinyue also responded to everyone with a smile.
"Doctor Su, where are you going?" Mrs. Liu greeted Su Jinyue with a smile. She had told her cousin about Dr. Su the last time, and he had taken him very seriously. He had come to her house today specifically to meet him. Her cousin was a handsome man, and she was sure Dr. Su would like him.
"Just take a walk." Su Jinyue said.
"Then come to my house and have a seat. I haven't thanked you properly for what happened last time." Mrs. Liu stepped forward and took Su Jinyue's arm, saying with a smile. She had originally been going to see Dr. Su, but she didn't expect to run into him right after she left the house.
"Mrs. Liu, you don't have to be so polite. I'm just doing my job as a doctor. Besides, you've already thanked me," Su Jinyue said. She came forward because she didn't want her master to be implicated by Song Yiren.
"That's not much of a thank you, Dr. Su. Just come to my house and have a seat." Mrs. Liu said as she pulled Su Jinyue home.
