Chapter 807 Unrequited Love

The sun was shining brightly, and the chirping of birds outside the window came into the room, waking up Su Jinyue from her sleep.

She slowly opened her eyes and saw Zhan Yihan sitting beside the bed, looking at her. She raised her lips and smiled, "Good morning."

Zhan Yihan lowered his head and kissed Su Jinyue on the forehead, "After breakfast, let's go to Yangcheng."

"Are you going to see Yilin?" Su Jinyue asked. Yilin was currently attending university in Yangcheng. Yihan had originally wanted Yilin to go to Beijing to study at university, but later Yilin chose to go to Yangcheng on his own.

"I haven't seen that kid in a while. I don't know if he's doing well there." Zhan Yihan said. Yilin wanted to train himself, so he didn't arrange for anyone to take care of him.

Su Jinyue sat up and the quilt slid down her neck, revealing her fair skin and seductive curves.

Zhan Yihan immediately felt a surge of heat rising from his body and cleared his throat. "I'm going out first." If he stayed any longer, he couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't throw her down. In front of Jin Yue, he always lost his self-control; he couldn't control himself at all.

Watching Zhan Yihan fleeing out of the room, Su Jinyue couldn't help but laugh.

After putting on her clothes, Su Jinyue performed the Qingshui Jue (Clear Water Technique) and, thinking of her master, she released her spiritual sense to sweep in the direction of the clinic. Seeing that her master was not in the clinic, her spiritual sense continued to spread around.

Soon, she saw Xu Tiansheng standing in a forest, carrying a bamboo basket on his back. In front of him stood a wooden sign that read "Song Yiren's Tomb." She couldn't help but sigh. It looked like it would take Master quite some time to recover from his grief.

After retracting her spiritual sense, Su Jinyue walked out of the room.

After breakfast, Su Jinyue and Zhan Yihan set off for Yangcheng. They didn't tell anyone they were going to Yangcheng. It wasn't close from here to Yangcheng, and it would take at least two days by train. They would be back in the evening, so there was no need to tell anyone.

In the sunshine, on the playground, young and energetic students are playing football with sweat pouring down their cheeks.

The cheers from the sidelines rose one after another, one wave higher than the other.

Zhan Yilin made a long shot and the ball went right into the goal. At this moment, the whistle for the end of the game sounded.

"Goal! We win!" The crowd outside the field cheered. Their school hadn't won an inter-school competition for several years, but since Zhan Yilin joined the football team, they had won every game.

Captain Liu Zhan walked up to Zhan Yilin, patted him on the shoulder and said, "Well done! Let's go outside to celebrate later." He admired Zhan Yilin, his junior. Although Zhan Yilin looked weak, he was not inferior to anyone when it came to playing football.

"I'm not going. I have an exam tomorrow and I want to go back and study for some lessons," Zhan Yilin said. He didn't really like going out to parties. Whenever he went out with them, they would force him to drink. Although he could hold his liquor well, he didn't really enjoy drinking.

"That's not very nice of you. Are you trying to turn against us brothers?" Vice Captain Zhou Zhiheng said. Zhan Yilin was a hero to their football team. Without him, what was the point of celebrating?

"Go, you must go today, otherwise we will break up." Liu Zhan threatened with a smile.

Zhan Yilin smiled helplessly, "Okay! But I don't drink."

"Don't be ridiculous! What's a good dinner party without drinking? Don't worry, I'll cover all your expenses today," Zhou Zhiheng said, patting his chest. They all knew Zhan Yilin came from a remote mountain village. Life in the city was better now, but many places were still extremely poor, especially those remote mountain villages.

"It's settled." Liu Zhan decided without giving Zhan Yilin any chance to refuse.

Zhan Yilin smiled and said nothing more. He wasn't actually poor. Every month, his parents would ask his second brother to send him living expenses, and his second brother was quite generous, always sending him 500 yuan. It was just that he was used to being frugal, so he rarely spent money. Whenever he went out to dinner with the group, as soon as he offered to pay, everyone would find all sorts of excuses to object, never giving him the chance to pay. Even if he said he had money, they wouldn't believe him.

Outside the playground, a tall, delicate young woman stared intently at Zhan Yilin, who was chatting and laughing with the others. She and Zhan Yilin were in the same class, and her heart was drawn to his refined and elegant demeanor, which had made her fall for him unknowingly. However, she knew that no matter how much she loved him, her parents would never let her be with a boy from a remote village with no background. Yet, despite knowing it was impossible, she couldn't help but fall for him.

"Qingqiu, what are you looking at?" A girl with long hair and a baby face approached. She was Lin Qingqiu's best friend. Their parents were close friends, and they had been in the same class since kindergarten and had always sat at the same desk. Their relationship was closer than that of sisters, so there were no secrets between them.

"Nothing." Lin Qingqiu looked away.

Guan Xiaoshan glanced at the playground, a glint of understanding flashing in her eyes. She looked at Lin Qingqiu mischievously, "I see, you must be looking at your sweetheart." She knew Qingqiu liked Zhan Yilin, but Zhan Yilin's background was simply not good enough for Qingqiu. If Qingqiu's parents knew, they would definitely object. A family like theirs would never marry a boy from a remote mountain village, no matter how outstanding he was.

"Don't talk nonsense, I didn't do that." Lin Qingqiu blushed. She had only told Xiaoshan that she liked Zhan Yilin.

"Qingqiu, you two are destined to be impossible. You should just give up." Guan Xiaoshan advised. She didn't want to see Qingqiu sad because of this relationship.

Lin Qingqiu nodded and said, "I know." She knew it, but her heart had already been moved, and it was impossible to take it back just like that.

Looking at Zhan Yilin who was chatting and laughing with everyone as he walked out of the venue, Lin Qingqiu sighed deeply in her heart, "Xiaoshan, let's go back." She was just unrequited love, and Zhan Yilin didn't know that she liked him.

"Okay!" Guan Xiaoshan nodded, took Lin Qingqiu's arm, and walked with her towards their dormitory.

Zhan Yilin watched Lin Qingqiu and Guan Xiaoshan walk away, a wry smile playing across his lips. He had developed a fondness for Lin Qingqiu since he first met her, but he knew they were destined to be two parallel lines, never to intersect. He was just a poor boy from the countryside, while Lin Qingqiu was the daughter of a wealthy family. So, he had always kept this affection deep in his heart, never daring to express it.
