Su Jinyue and Zhan Yihan stopped and turned to look at the person who came. They saw a tall and thin middle-aged man walking towards them.
Zhan Yihan tightened his grip on Su Jinyue's hand and exchanged glances with her. They both sensed an unusual aura in each other, suggesting she must be a practitioner of ancient martial arts.
"Did you two just go to Ruichengzhai and buy a rusty dagger?" the middle-aged man asked. He had searched the street for a long time, but they were the only two people there, and they were both young people. Generally, people who came to Liulichang were middle-aged or elderly people; young people rarely came here.
"I did buy it, but I lost it," Su Jinyue said. Since the other party had come looking for them, they should have known that they had bought the dagger.
"Lost? Who are you trying to fool?" the middle-aged man snorted unhappily.
"If you don't believe me, forget it." Su Jinyue rolled her eyes at the middle-aged man and pulled Zhan Yihan away. The dagger was in her storage bag anyway, so no matter how skilled the other party was, he wouldn't be able to find it.
The middle-aged man followed, carefully examining Zhan Yihan and Su Jinyue, his brows furrowing even tighter. He certainly didn't see the rusty dagger on them, nor did he sense its presence. Could it be that they had really lost it?
Following Su Jinyue and Zhan Yihan to the dumpling shop, I saw the two of them sit down, and the middle-aged man also sat down in an empty seat next to them.
Su Jinyue picked up the menu on the table, took a look at it, and looked up at Zhan Yihan, "What kind of dumplings do you want?" She chose to ignore the middle-aged man.
"The cabbage and pork dumplings here are really good, it's their signature dish. Would you like to try some?" Zhan Yihan asked. He had eaten here several times and found the cabbage and pork dumplings to be the best.
"Then let's eat the one with cabbage and pork filling." Su Jinyue decided with a smile.
Zhan Yihan smiled and nodded, then raised his hand to call the waiter, "Give us half a pound of dumplings stuffed with cabbage and pork."
"Okay, please wait a moment!" The waiter took the menu and walked towards the kitchen.
The middle-aged man narrowed his eyes, scanning Zhan Yihan and Su Jinyue. He was now certain that the dagger was not on Su Jinyue and the others. Although the dagger was short, it was much longer and heavier than an ordinary dagger. It would be almost impossible to hide it on someone without being discovered.
He sighed, stood up, and walked outside. Regardless of whether they had lost it or not, the dagger was definitely not on them, so there was no point in following them. He might as well go see if he could find other items similar to the dagger.
After eating dumplings, Su Jinyue and Zhan Yihan came to Liulichang again and visited one shop after another.
I just spent an entire afternoon browsing and didn't see a single antique with a purple glow.
Su Jinyue sighed in disappointment and was about to go back to the hospital.
"Clearance sale, don't miss it if you pass by." A shout attracted Su Jinyue's attention. She looked in the direction of the voice and found that a store specializing in selling ancient books was having a clearance sale.
"Let's go and take a look." Su Jinyue took Zhan Yihan's hand and walked towards the store.
Entering the shop, Su Jinyue was surprised to see the middle-aged man who had accompanied them. He was definitely not an ordinary person, as he had found the unusual dagger among so many antiques. Perhaps there was something here that attracted him.
She glanced around the store. Because of the clearance sale, the store was filled with old books and scrolls, making it look very messy. If her eyes could not identify the age of antiques by color, it would definitely be difficult to find treasures in these old books. After all, she only had a superficial understanding of antiques.
A touch of light purple caught Su Jinyue's eyes. Su Jinyue was delighted and was about to pull Zhan Yihan forward, but when she saw the middle-aged man looking at her, she immediately restrained the expression on her face and pretended to walk leisurely to a pile of books not far from her and started flipping through them.
The middle-aged man snorted coldly and turned away. When he'd passed by the shop before, he'd felt it had a dagger-like aura. It was just that there were so many books here that he couldn't find what he was looking for, even after searching for a long time. But he trusted his intuition.
"Let's go over there and take a look?" Su Jinyue pulled Zhan Yihan and walked towards the pile of books where the purple light was shining.
Coming to the pile of books, Su Jinyue squatted down and flipped through them randomly. As she flipped through them, she asked the boss sitting at the counter, "Boss, how much do you sell these books for?"
"Ancient books are ten yuan each, scrolls are twenty, and everything else is eight yuan," the shopkeeper said rather listlessly. If it weren't for some family emergency that urgently needed money, he wouldn't have sold the books and scrolls he had painstakingly collected.
Su Jinyue nodded in understanding and randomly picked up a few books with yellow and green light. When she pulled out the book with purple light, she quickly put it into her storage bag.
He stood up, picked up two books from somewhere else, and walked up to the boss. "Boss, there are nine books here, please count them."
The boss took a look and nodded.
Su Jinyue took out the money and handed it to the boss, then walked out of the store with Zhan Yihan.
The boss counted the money and found that there were ten extra dollars. He wanted to call Su Jinyue and Zhan Yihan, but found that they had already walked away. He could only sigh and put the money away.
The middle-aged man stopped searching and frowned. He suddenly realized that the aura had disappeared. Could it be that the two young men had sold what he wanted?
Thinking of this, he hurriedly chased after him.
"Stop!"
Hearing the low growl coming from behind, Su Jinyue's lips curled up slightly, "Sure enough, he caught up with us." She guessed that the middle-aged man should be able to sense objects with purple light, otherwise he would not have discovered them as soon as they bought the books.
Zhan Yihan and Su Jinyue stopped and looked at the middle-aged man who was catching up with them.
"What do you want to do?" Zhan Yihan asked in a deep voice.
"Take out the books you just bought." The middle-aged man said with a cold face.
"Why?!" Zhan Yihan's face turned cold, and there was a chill in his eyes as he looked at the middle-aged man.
"Don't refuse my toast and then drink a forfeit. If you anger me, you won't be able to bear the consequences." The middle-aged man threatened with a cold face.
Su Jinyue pulled Zhan Yihan and said, "It's okay if you want to read it, but I can't let you read it for free. How about this, I'll show you a book, and you pay for it. If you agree, I'll let you read it."
