Chapter 13

Chapter 13

After completing the formalities, the father and daughter agreed with Director Wang to open the stall three days later and then they were ready to go back.

Director Wang pointed to the door next to the guard room and said, "There's a small utility room next to it. If your desk and chairs can be folded up, they should probably fit in there. I'll give it to you."

Su Yuanzheng thanked him repeatedly, saying that this would save a lot of trouble. If he had to pull the tables over again every day, it would definitely take two trucks to finish it.

Before leaving, Su Miao said to the security guard, "Goodbye, Uncle Wang!"

Uncle Wang turned to his son and said cheerfully, "You're all smart people. I think it can work out."

With the factory's approval, they can now set up stalls safely, at least they don't have to compete with other vendors for space.

A huge weight lifted off his chest, and Su Yuanzheng pedaled his tricycle as lightly as flying.

He tilted his head slightly and said to his daughter behind him, "Miao Miao! Next we need to prepare the table and benches, and go buy some pickles, right?"

"Hmm, Dad, do you know where to buy a long table? We also need to buy big basins, bowls and small plates."

"I went to help a co-worker move house before, and I saw he had an old bench that had been sitting in the woodshed, unused. I'm going to ask him tonight if he can sell it to us. I can buy the bench at a cheaper price from the carpenter."

"Well, it doesn't matter if it's old. We can just clean it. As for the tableware, it would be great if we could find some for sale."

They had already passed an intersection, and Su Yuan stopped the car by the side of the road as if he remembered something.

The car happened to be parked under the shade of a tree. Su Yuanzheng turned around to look at his daughter. "Is it transferred? Is it okay to use someone else's used tableware?"

Su Miao nodded: "Yes, it's all the same after cleaning and disinfection, as long as it doesn't look old."

"There's a restaurant in the east of the city. It's been open for two years and is very prosperous. The owner made some money and opened a leather factory in the city. He's determined to close the restaurant and sell everything inside. I wonder if the pots, pans, and utensils should be sold together or sold separately."

Su Miao's eyes lit up. This was such a coincidence. He quickly said, "Dad, why don't we go ask?"

"Okay! Sit tight, daughter! We'll be leaving soon!"

After riding a tricycle for twenty minutes, he finally arrived at Boss Wu's restaurant in the east of the city. Su Miao looked up at the sign. The name of the restaurant was very straightforward.

The store door was only half open, and two or three waiters were packing things listlessly inside.

Seeing them come in, a waiter said, "The restaurant is closed. There's no food left. Go somewhere else."

Su Yuanzheng stepped forward and said, "Comrade, we heard that the restaurant is being sold. Are all the things inside going to be sold?"

"Yeah, I'm writing the sign."

The young man at the side interrupted and answered, there was a sign in front of him that said, the restaurant is closed, all goods are cleared out, sell to you for money!

Su Miao shook his father's hand and winked at him. It looked like there was hope!

"Are all the items sold separately? I'd like to buy some tableware, is that ok?"

The young man said, "Sure! Even if you only want to buy a lightbulb, it's fine. This owner is my uncle, and he's going to do big business. I can't sell this store right away, and the rent is due in two days. I'll sell the stuff here for money!"

Isn't that perfect? Su Yuanzheng said happily, "Can I go take a look in the kitchen? They might need a lot of things."

"Okay, I'm going to go out and put up a sign. You can ask this lady to take you there. You're here before I put up a sign, so there will definitely be a lot of people."

The first waitress who greeted them took them directly to the kitchen: "Take a look at what you want. Our food is all top-notch. Some of it was just replaced not long ago. It's worth it!"

Su Miao and Su Yuanzheng looked at each other, and like little mice falling into a rice jar, they rolled up their sleeves and started picking up the rice.

The big porridge bowl is even bigger than the Su family's washbasin. The porridge bucket with a lid that can be closed can keep warm when the weather is cooler.

The dishes are served in deep medium-sized bowls with lids like those used in the cafeteria. The porridge bowls for personal use come in two sizes: a large bowl and a bowl slightly larger than that used in ordinary households.

In addition, we also asked for a lot of small plates for the guests to serve their own food, and we also asked for more chopsticks and spoons according to the number of bowls.

There are no stainless steel tableware now, and the ones used are aluminum, iron and ceramic.

These were all the things they had originally planned to buy, but the clearance sale was so cheap that the father and daughter couldn't help but buy some other supplies. After all, if they missed this opportunity, they would miss it and they could use them in the future.

The family still uses a wood-burning stove. When Su Miao saw the rare gas stove, his eyes lit up.

"Auntie, your shop already uses a gas stove? Is it expensive?"

"This stove was definitely expensive when I bought it, but it pales in comparison to the cost of gas. If you're a small business, I'd still rather burn wood or coal; the cost is too high."

That being said, Su Miao temporarily gave up the idea of using a gas stove and decided to wait until it became more popular.

While settling the bill, the young man casually said, "Are you planning to open a restaurant too? Don't you need tables, chairs, and benches? These are all new models and very cheap!"

Su Yuanzheng looked at the tables and stools in the store and shook his head: "We don't have a store, so we need low stools. Yours won't fit."

"Stools? We have dozens of small stools. Do you want any?"

As he said that, he pulled Su Yuanzheng to the warehouse at the back to see it. It was a small stool that could be folded up, which was very convenient to use for setting up a stall.

The young man rambled on, "These were discarded from the cinema last year. They usually use these chairs when they go out to show movies. They fold up very conveniently. We used them to give seats to customers waiting outside. They're not new, but they're definitely not damaged. If you buy them all, I'll give you the lowest price of 20!"

Su Miao calculated that a small stool was only 40 cents, which was a good deal, so he said, "Uncle, if we take them all, can we get a discount if we add in all the other things?"

"I'll definitely give you a discount, but little sister, I'm not married yet, so you should just call me brother. My name is Wu Wei."

Wu Wei? Why does it sound so familiar? Su Miao thought about it carefully, but still couldn't remember.

In the end, the father and daughter picked out a lot of things and spent 150 yuan, which was equivalent to Su Yuanzheng's original three months salary.

But according to the value, the father and daughter made a lot of money today.

There were too many things, and it would take two trucks to transport them all. Su Miao went back with the first truck, unloaded the things, and slowly put them in order. Su Yuanzheng returned to pull the second truck.

The Su family bought a bicycle yesterday, which was already a new thing in Gexin Lane. Now they bought a lot of things and came back. The neighbors inevitably gathered around to ask about them.

When they heard that Su Yuanzheng had lost his job at the factory and was planning to set up a small stall, everyone had different expressions.

Some people comforted Su Yuanzheng by saying that things would get better slowly, some watched coldly and waited to see him make a fool of himself, and some even poured cold water on him.

But the Su family father and daughter don't care about these things. They have a lot of things to do.

The Su family's yard is large, and the kitchen is also large, taking up the size of the two front rooms. After putting the kitchen utensils in order, there is still a lot of space left.

They were busy until the evening before they finished cleaning up. The father and daughter didn't have much appetite, so they simply cooked two bowls of egg noodles for dinner.
