Chapter 140

Chapter 140

Su Miao and Su Yuanzheng read the rules carefully. In fact, the most important thing is that the trademark cannot conflict with sensitive words. Fees need to be paid to register a trademark. The validity period of a successfully registered trademark is ten years. After the expiration, the registration needs to be renewed. If no application is made within the six-month extension period, the trademark will be cancelled.

Section Chief Wu asked them, "Have you thought of a trademark name?"

Su Yuanzheng replied: "We want to register Su Ji."

"Su Ji? I'm afraid that's not appropriate. First of all, it's too simple and too broad. Your family name must be Su, right? Many owners with the surname Su want to call themselves Su Ji. It's very likely that it's already been registered. If it gets rejected, wouldn't that be a waste of time? What's the name of your store now?"

"It's called Su Ji Food Shop."

"If you ask me, you should just try Su Ji Food Shop first. The name is a bit long, but it's very clear that it sells food."

Su Miao nodded and asked, "Uncle, has the Su Ji Food Store trademark not been registered in Yongcheng? This trademark is nationwide. How can we check if it exists elsewhere?"

"As far as I know, Nancheng hasn't registered this yet. After you submit all the application materials, we will check them first. If there are no problems, we will report them to the top. They will review them again and confirm that you are the only one in the country to apply for this trademark. Then we will return them to you. After we publicize them and there are no problems, it will be considered a successful registration.

The process is indeed a bit long, usually taking more than half a year. We can give you a list of materials at once, and you prepare them accordingly. Once you submit them, we will proceed with the procedures, so that your work will not be delayed."

Section Chief Wu then hand-wrote a long list of materials they needed to prepare, and as he escorted them out of his office, he said with a broad smile, "Be sure to come back! I can expedite it for you!"

After returning home, Su Yuanzheng began to prepare the materials seriously. There were quite a lot of them. This needed to be proven, and that needed to be filled out. It was a huge stack.

In the evening, the phone at Ye Jiayin's house rang. Because he had given the key to Su Miao and Su Yuanzheng and asked them to help look after the house, Su Miao ran over to answer the phone when he heard it ringing.

"Hello, how are you?"

"Is that Miaomiao? I'm Jiayin."

"Sister Jiayin!! Happy New Year!"

"Miaomiao, Happy New Year, are you having a happy New Year?"

"Very happy, we have returned to Nancheng these two days."

"Okay, I have a registered letter that's expected to arrive in the next two days. Could you please sign for it for me?"

"Okay, no problem!"

The two chatted on the phone for a while. Su Miao said that their family wanted to register a trademark and didn't know where to find someone who could design a nice pattern.

Ye Jiayin asked, "What's the name of your trademark?"

"Just like the name of our shop, it's called Su Ji Food Shop."

"I happen to have a cousin who studies art. I'll ask her to design a few and send them to you. See if you like any of them."

Su Miao said in surprise: "Really? Sister Jiayin, thank you so much!"

"It's just a small matter!"

In the blink of an eye, it was the Lantern Festival. As usual, Su Ji was only open for half a day. After cleaning up in the afternoon, the two employees left work early. The Su family prepared a table of sumptuous meals and had a full meal.

There was a lantern festival near Wutong Temple in the evening, and they also wanted to join in the fun, so they went out early before the sun went down.

Wutong Temple is very far away from them, and riding a tricycle to get there would break their legs, so they have to take the bus.

As the bus drove along, more and more people got on. It seemed that they were all going to see the lantern festival. Many children were holding small lanterns in their hands, which were all handmade by their parents and each one was different.

After driving and stopping for almost forty minutes, we finally arrived. The sky was showing signs of getting dark. In the distance, we could see the lights of burning incense and candles by the river. People who had gotten off the bus were walking towards that direction.

Wutong Temple stands on the bank of Yongjiang River. A long riverside square is built around it along the river. It is said that it was first built in the Song Dynasty. Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang ordered the enshrinement of the "Wutong God Tablet" to commemorate the soldiers who died in the battle.

During the Republic of China, it was converted into a primary school and was later destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. In the early 1980s, it was rebuilt with funds raised by boat people on the Yongjiang River and villagers of Yali Village.

The so-called Wutong Temple refers to: connecting to heaven, earth, people, gods and ghosts.

According to the old saying, there used to be a ferry next to Wutong Temple. Merchant ships passed by here, and merchants would go in to worship when they rested at the ferry, so the temple was mainly used to bless the ships traveling on the water and the businessmen to be safe and sound.

Later, the name gradually spread and the incense became more and more prosperous.

On the first and fifteenth day of every month, devout believers from all over rush to burn the first incense sticks. The place is packed with people and the scene is so smoky and hot that it makes people cry. It is a breathtaking sight.

However, their purpose today is not to worship the gods, but to go to the square to see the lanterns.

As the bustling crowd walked into the riverside park, the lanterns decorating various parts of the park were already lit.

Some are arranged by organizing units, while others are brought by small vendors, and all of them are elegant and exquisite in design.

Cute rabbit lanterns, intricately crafted lotus lanterns, simple yet festive apple lanterns...

"Dad! Brother Yu! Look! That goldfish lantern is so beautiful! Its tail can even move!"

A vendor was holding a goldfish lantern in his hand, shouting and shaking it gently. The tail of the goldfish lantern was moving, and the scales on its body were trembling slightly, as if it were really alive and swimming in the water.

Su Yuanzheng asked, "Comrade, how much is this lantern?"

"This goldfish lantern took me a long time to make. It's 2 yuan each."

As the vendor finished speaking, a citizen who was also trying to inquire about the price grumbled, "This is a bit expensive! It's just something for the kids to play with for a while, and it costs two yuan."

The vendor immediately said, "Hey, comrade, the Lantern Festival has just started and I haven't sold any lanterns yet. How about this? If you spend 2 yuan to buy this goldfish lantern, I'll give you this lotus lantern as a bonus. It'll be considered a good start for me."

Su Miao looked at the lotus lantern and liked it very much. She said, "Dad, let's buy it."

Making a goldfish lantern is indeed very labor-intensive. This family only made one, and it was gone after Su Miao bought it.

The man who just said it was expensive was holding a child in his hand. When he saw that his favorite goldfish lamp had been bought, he burst into tears: "Goldfish lamp! Goldfish lamp! I must have a goldfish lamp! Waaaaaaa!!!"

"Don't cry, Bao'er! Grandpa will buy you something else!"

"I don't! I don't! I want that goldfish lamp!"

Seeing that he couldn't coax his grandson, the man turned to Su Yuanzheng and said, "Comrade! Look at this... Can you give me this goldfish lantern?"

Su Yuanzheng looked at the goldfish lantern his daughter was holding and shook his head. "Sorry, my daughter and I also like this lantern very much. We can't give it to you."
