Chapter 435
Now most of the papaya shreds in the workshop are processed using semi-finished products shipped from branch factories, and only a small part is dried in the workshop.
Uncle Huzi is a vital link in the entire production process. He delivers goods every other day and brings different things according to the production needs of the workshop and store.
The third day after the college entrance examination was the day when Uncle Huzi was going to deliver the goods, so Su Miao and Su Yuanzheng took a ride directly back to Sujia Village.
After the rain stopped, Second Uncle had already brought workers to rescue the small papaya tree that was blown down. Su Miao had plenty of time after the exam and decided to go back to see the specific situation.
I didn't let Uncle Huzi drive into the village. I turned directly from the main road and arrived at the gate of the branch factory.
To ensure food safety, the factory gate is usually closed and is only opened when needed for commuting or transporting goods.
There are four keys to the factory gate, one for Su Yuanzheng, one for my second uncle and second aunt, and one for An Cui.
Su Yuanzheng took out a bunch of keys and searched for them, then said embarrassedly, "Miaomiao, Dad didn't bring the factory gate key. I took it separately last time and forgot to put it together."
Su Miao poked his head into the factory. It was quiet and seemed like no one was around. However, papaya shreds were drying in the large area, and the whole area looked quite spectacular.
"It's okay, Dad. Why don't we go straight to the garden? It's closer from here than home. We can check on the saplings later and then go home."
Just as the two were about to move to the papaya garden, An Cui came out of the warehouse with a wooden rake, which was used to turn the papaya shreds.
She spotted the two people outside the door with her sharp eyes and quickly called out, "Uncle Shi! Miaomiao! Someone's here! I forgot to bring my key. I'll open the door right away."
After saying that, he put down his tools and ran over to open the door.
"Sister-in-law, so you're here. I saw that there was no movement in the factory and thought everyone had gone to pick papayas."
"Second aunt and the others went to the garden to pick papayas, but have you forgotten the rules you set? The factory has to be manned 24 hours a day to prevent anyone from coming in, so we all take turns guarding it."
"It's been so long, I really forgot how hard you all work to run the factory so well."
Su Miao and his father walked around the factory and found everything was in order.
Su Yuanzheng saw a tricycle parked by the gate and remembered that his second sister-in-law called two months ago and asked the factory to have an extra tricycle to transport papayas. Su Miao waved his hand and approved two tricycles. Now they can be used.
He pointed at the tricycle and asked, "An Cui, is this tricycle from the factory?"
"Yes, Uncle Shi, I just bought it not long ago."
"Okay, Miaomiao and I can just ride our bikes to the garden and take a look. We don't have to wait for them to come back."
They didn't call to inform in advance before coming back, mainly because Su Miao didn't want to trouble his second uncle's family to clean the yard for them. They could just make their own beds later.
So when they appeared quietly, they really scared my second uncle.
"A Zheng, Miao Miao, you're back! Why didn't you tell me in advance so I could sweep the yard for you?"
"Don't bother with that. Just go back and sweep and dry the quilt. With such good sunshine, cleaning will be quick."
My second aunt was picking papayas with her workers. When she saw them coming back, she ran over in surprise and didn't even remember to put down the papayas in her hands.
"Miao Miao~ You're back~ Hmm! You look so energetic! You must have done well in the exam!"
Su Miao smiled and nodded, then went over to hold Second Aunt's hand affectionately: "Second Aunt, I answered the questions smoothly on this exam. Thank you and Second Uncle for helping me burn incense to our ancestors."
Second aunt stroked her face and said, "What's so hard about it? You are the most promising one in our family. We are all looking forward to your graduation from high school."
Second Uncle reached out to take the luggage bag from Su Miao's hand and said, "Don't let it get exposed to the sun. Put the luggage in the hut first. I'll take you to see the little tree."
Because Team Leader Su had reminded him before, Uncle Er had already set up a windbreak net before the typhoon season arrived.
However, the small trees didn’t have enough grip and some of them were blown over.
The land where the saplings were planted was rented long-term from Brother Defei. It is closely connected to the original garden, forming a large area.
Uncle Er pointed at the small tree and said, "A small half of them have fallen over. Some of them have damaged their main roots. Team Leader Su said that the possibility of saving them is relatively small. I will concentrate on planting them in a corner first, and then move them out if they really can't survive.
As for the other damaged roots, I straightened them, pruned some branches and leaves, and added nutrients, so they shouldn't be a big problem."
Su Miao carefully observed the small trees. The branches and leaves of those whose main roots were damaged had obviously wilted. It didn't look good and they might be lost.
"Uncle, according to the past, there is usually more than one typhoon during a typhoon season. Judging from the weather forecast, this one isn't too severe. We have to be prepared for the big typhoons that may come later."
Second Uncle said with a worried look on his face, "Yes! The other day, it felt like the soil was blown loose, so we tamped it down. Team Leader Su said it would be best to support each tree individually, but it's too much work. He'll come over tomorrow to look at other solutions."
Su Miao nodded and said, "Okay, then when Team Leader Su comes tomorrow, we'll discuss it together."
The happiest person when they came back was Grandma San. She held Su Miao's hand and asked her again and again if she was okay, how her exams went, whether she was bullied at school, whether she had eaten delicious food and had fun during the holidays, where she was going to go to college in the future, how far away it was, whether she had holidays, and how many times a year she could come back.
Su Miao patiently answered each question. Second Uncle, however, shook his head as he listened. He smiled and said, "Mom, the scores haven't come out yet, so how can we know which school to go to? Besides, it's not up to the students to decide whether the school has holidays or not."
The third wife turned around and chased her eldest son away: "Go away! Get out of here! You've never been to school, so what do you know?
My Miaomiao will definitely get into the first school she applied to! Besides, whether or not to have holidays is legally mandated. Who makes the law? The people make it. We are the people.
I'm asking because I don't know the current policy. Do you really think your mother is an illiterate old lady? "
Second uncle quickly coaxed, "Okay, okay! It's my son. I forgot that you were the top student in the private school and the most educated old lady in the village. I, your son, can't even compare to a single toe of yours. You were born at the wrong time, in troubled times. If you had moved forward or backward, you would have been the top scholar!"
The Third Wife snorted proudly: "Hmph! It's good that you know it. Go to work and don't be an eyesore here."
"Yes, sir!"
Seeing Second Uncle skipping and jumping towards the backyard, Su Miao asked curiously, "Third Aunt! You used to attend a private school? And you were the top student! That's amazing, I didn't even know about it. Can you tell me about it?"
When you get older, you like to reminisce about the past, especially the highlights of your life. The children at home can recite them after listening to them. Now that there is someone who is willing to listen, Grandma San is very happy.
"Miao Miao, listen to what Grandma San said..."
