Chapter 681
Su Miao was in a good mood after finding a way to order the machine from Manager Xie.
After saying goodbye to Manager Xie, she took the bus home. The warm wind blew on her face through the window. She squinted her eyes, feeling the comfort of summer.
I got off the bus at the bus stop at the corner of the alley, and when I turned around, I heard a familiar voice that I hadn't heard in a long time:
"Su Miao!"
Su Miao stopped in surprise, looked forward, and her fingers unconsciously clenched the strap of her bag.
"Long time no see, Su Miao, you are getting more and more beautiful."
The man walked out from the shade of the tree, his voice sounding deliberately relaxed.
Liu Zhaodi!
I haven't seen her for more than two years. She has lost a lot of weight, her originally round cheeks have become sunken, and her cheekbones are slightly protruding.
She was wearing a T-shirt that was obviously one size too big and had been washed out, her jeans had holes worn out at the knees, and her sneakers were coming apart.
Despite this, Su Miao felt that she was much calmer now than when she was full of ambition and complacency before.
The once malevolent gleam was gone, replaced by a hollow weariness.
Su Miao calmed himself down and spoke in a cold tone, "Long time no see, Liu Zhaodi, have you been released?"
Her eyes quickly swept over Liu Zhaodi and noticed a few faint bruises on her arms.
Liu Zhaodi pulled the corner of her mouth and revealed a sarcastic smile:
"Oh! What? You think it's too fast? If you had put an extra wad of money in your bag, I'd still be locked up now."
Su Miaoyin couldn't figure out her purpose, so he stopped talking and just stared at her, as calmly as if he was looking at a stranger.
The chirping of summer cicadas echoed between the two of them, and a subtle tension hung in the air.
After exchanging a few glances with her, Liu Zhaodi finally gave in and relaxed, saying with a smile:
"Okay, okay, I'm not here to cause you any trouble."
She kicked the pebbles at her feet and continued:
"I just got released and didn't know where to go for a while, so I suddenly thought of you. Don't worry, I finally got out, and I don't want to go back in."
Su Miao pursed her lips, her eyes falling on Liu Zhaodi's cracked lips: "Want some sugar water? I'll treat you."
Liu Zhaodi was obviously stunned for a moment, then nodded:
"Okay, you'll have to treat me. I'm broke right now."
She patted her empty trouser pockets, making a slight sound of fabric rubbing against each other.
The two walked forward, one in front and the other behind, under the tree in the small square. During the summer vacation, Lin Wang would set up a stall here in the afternoon.
Su Miao was still wary of Liu Zhaodi. Even if it was a normal conversation, it was better to have someone close by. Who knew if she would suddenly go crazy?
However, since she didn't know Liu Zhaodi's intentions, she didn't want to bring her home and upset her father, so it was best for her to come to Lin Wang.
There were five small tables on Lin Wang's stall, and a few customers were eating desserts. He was sitting next to the tricycle reading a book.
"Lin Wang, business is booming."
"Huh? Su Miao? You're back from vacation. What would you like to drink?" Lin Wang looked up and saw her and said in surprise.
"I'm back. I brought my cousin over for a drink."
Su Miao ordered a bowl of locust flower powder and turned to ask Liu Zhaodi what she wanted to eat.
Liu Zhaodi looked at the several kinds of sweet soup on the sign, her eyes shining and her Adam's apple rolling unconsciously.
She hesitated, not knowing what to order, her fingers twisted together unconsciously.
Seeing this, Su Miao said directly: "Lin Wang, please give me one portion of each of these."
Lin Wang nodded, and while serving them dessert, he secretly glanced at Liu Zhaodi several times.
Because they were close in the latter part of their senior year, Lin Wang also knew some things about Zhang Yan's sister.
I heard that Zhang Yan had a grudge against Su Miao because Su Miao had a cousin who bullied Zhang Yan's sister at school.
And it was not just ordinary bullying, but serious bullying, so much so that Zhang Yan's sister, who was originally timid and introverted, was mentally frustrated and dropped out of school.
They later went to see her sister together. After more than a year of recuperation, her mental state had improved a lot, and I heard that she had returned to school this semester.
However, I heard that Su Miao’s cousin is in jail, so this probably isn’t the case.
Su Miao and Liu Zhaodi sat opposite each other at a small table, and Lin Wang placed several bowls of sugar water on the table one by one.
The Sophora japonica flower powder is crystal clear, the mung bean soup is emerald green, and the red bean paste is sweet and dense...
Liu Zhaodi stared at the desserts, her throat rolled, and her fingers trembled slightly when she picked up the spoon.
Since she went in, she has never tasted anything so delicious. For a moment, she was just focused on eating and couldn't say a word.
It wasn't until she choked and coughed because she ate too fast that Su Miao said, "Eat slowly. No one is going to snatch the food from you."
Liu Zhaodi took a mouthful of cold mung bean soup and her eyes suddenly turned red.
She turned her face away and wiped her eyes fiercely with her sleeve: "Damn, that's too sweet."
The sounds of children playing could be heard in the distance, and the slanting sun stretched the shadows very long.
Su Miao stirred the sophora japonica powder in the bowl and spoke carefully, "Didn't you give us advance notice when your contract expired? Didn't your mother come to pick you up?"
"How could she possibly come to pick me up? She hasn't come once in more than two years. Who knows if she's dead or alive?
Your mother came twice, bringing a quilt or something, but nothing happened after that."
There was both resentment and loss in his tone.
In Su Miao's two lifetimes combined, he had never sat down and talked calmly with Liu Zhaodi like he was doing now.
I really didn't know what to say, so I asked, "So, what are your plans after you get out?"
Liu Zhaodi paused for a moment, then sneered, "What plans can I have? With a criminal record like mine, the school doesn't want me, and I can't get a proper job."
She looked up at Su Miao, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes:
"Are you feeling really proud? The poor girl I bullied back then has become a decent person now. A top student and a big boss. Every time you think of your down-and-out cousin like me, don't you want to laugh?"
Su Miao put down the spoon, and the spoon collided with the porcelain bowl, making a crisp sound:
"I don't have time to be proud, and I don't have time to think about you. I have a lot of things to do every day. If you hadn't suddenly appeared in front of me today, I wouldn't have thought about you for a long time."
Su Miao looked at her calmly: "Liu Zhaodi, the only person who will remember you forever is you."
Liu Zhaodi stared at her blankly, her mouth moving, then stopping. After a long while, she said:
"What nonsense is that? I don't understand. Anyway, I just came to tell you that I won't bother you again, and you don't bother me either."
Her voice suddenly dropped: "I don't want to go back to that crappy place at all!"
Su Miao nodded, his eyes becoming sharp:
"Well, sure. As long as you stay away from me and don't do anything behind my back, I'm too lazy to take action against you, although that's not a difficult task for me."
