Chapter Forty-Four: Contempt

The new poster naturally features Liang Liang's stage name: The Wolf of the North.

Few people know Liang Liang's real name, but quite a few know the wolf of the north.

In the small town of Yahe, he was already considered a minor celebrity among young people.

Cuihua took the red cotton guitar that Liang Liang no longer uses and practices it whenever she has free time. She herself plays the pipa, although the pipa is played vertically while the guitar is played horizontally.

But as long as you change your playing posture, Liang Liang will give you some pointers and you'll get the hang of it.

Cuihua learned very quickly, after all, the principles of musical instruments are all the same.

It's just that changing some habits left over from playing the pipa is quite difficult and will take some time.

Ming Hongling wasn't interested in the Red Cotton guitar; she didn't think that kind of old guitar looked cool. Instead, she was very interested in the cool electric guitar.

She thought it was very cool for a girl to be holding an electric guitar.

So she kept pestering Liang Liang to teach her the electric guitar.

When the electric guitar was free, it was always occupied by Ming Hongling, so Liang Liang had to play the bass instead.

The biggest advantage of a makeshift troupe is that it doesn't have high requirements for accompaniment; anyone can perform on stage and give it a go.

Bi Sheng's song and dance troupe performed three more shows in Yahe City. Ming Hongling and Cuihua were almost ready to go on stage, and Ming Hongling's electronic keyboard was given to Zhang Hua.

Liang Liang, a handsome guy, and his band of four beautiful girls became a popular combination.

After their final performance in Yahe, the Bi Sheng Song and Dance Troupe finally packed up and set off westward.

Qin Wenju really wanted to see Liang Liang off, but Liang Liang rejected the suggestion, promising to come back and meet with her whenever he had time.

Su Ennan returned to Lianwan City just before dark that day, and the next day he took a plane to Xianggang.

Yidong Company is a green island company that started in the spring of 1993 in cooperation with Bao Yixing Records.

In 1993, the company's lineup of singers was not very strong, consisting of only a few people such as Liu Dehua and Max Mok.

Some famous singers will not join until next year.

On the mainland side, there was only Su Ennan.

Although Yidong's current lineup of singers is relatively thin, its production team is very strong, including lyricists and composers Tai Zhengxiao, Lin Linan, and Xiong Meiling, as well as hardcore producers Li Anxiu and Chen Yachuan.

Although there aren't many singers under Yidong right now, these people aren't idle.

They are currently working on Suennan's album.

However, they haven't produced a single hit song yet, and the album is set to be released in September, so the task is undeniably urgent.

"Xiao Tai! You haven't composed any good songs either?" Several lyricists and composers gathered together, looking worried.

It's almost June, and they still haven't found a title track, so how could they not be worried?

Lin Linan asked Tai Zhengxiao, who was sitting opposite him.

Tai Zhengxiao shook his head: "My mind has been completely blank these days, I can't even utter a single sentence."

Lin Linan turned to Xiong Meiling.

Xiong Meiling spread her hands, indicating that she was powerless to help.

Ever since she wrote "Thank You for Your Love" for Liu Dehua, it seems like her inspiration has suddenly run out, and she can't write any songs that she's satisfied with.

"Sigh! There are only three months left until the album audition, and we still don't even have a title track. How are we going to get by? Forget about the title track, we haven't even got all the other songs together yet!"

"Should we commission songs from other people?" asked a lyricist and composer named Gu Hongbang.

"Our company has only been established for a short time, it would be a bit embarrassing for us to be asking for help from Yorg now!"

“But if we don’t commission songs, it might delay the release schedule of this album,” Tai Zhengxiao said worriedly.

A newly established record company will starve if it doesn't release any records.

Several people stared at each other, looking at each other with wide eyes.

The songs were all put together, then there was recording, arrangement, and post-production mastering...

Whether this album will be released on time is anyone's guess now.

The group fell into a sullen silence, none of them knowing what to say.

Just as these people were looking worried, the office door slammed open, and Su Ennan rushed in excitedly.

As soon as Su Ennan ran in, he waved a notebook in his hand.

"I've found the title track! I've found the title track!"

"What? You found the title track? Where did you find it?" Tai Zhengxiao was the first to ask.

"Back in mainland China! This time when I went home, I met a musical prodigy at a makeshift troupe and got a hit song from him!"

The three or four big shots who had been standing up excitedly were dumbfounded.

"A makeshift troupe?" Lin Linan asked in confusion before sitting down.

Xiong Meiling and Tai Zhengxiao looked at each other in bewilderment.

"Xiao Su! The level of song creation in mainland China is not high to begin with, and you've put together a makeshift team. Isn't that a bit ridiculous?" Lin Linan said disdainfully.

"Brother Lin! This guy is a real genius. He has created several songs, all of which are refreshing. However, I don't think the other two are quite suitable for me, so I bought one of them."

Lin Linan shook his head, showing no interest whatsoever in the notebook in Su Ennan's hand.

The song creators from the mainland are considered dispensable by the people of Green Island. Apart from a few individuals who are worthy of respect, they don't take the others seriously at all.

A makeshift troupe is even less respectable.

"Xiao Su! You've really gone too far with that joke. How come you've brought in a makeshift troupe? And these makeshift troupes can compose music? And you bought it? How much did you pay for it?"

Xiong Meiling also expressed her contempt.

“The other party didn’t ask for money. He said if I could get him a second-hand drum set in Xianggang, he would give me three songs as payment.”

"Nonsense! A second-hand drum set costs tens of thousands of yuan. It's not even worth thirty songs, let alone three," Lin Linan said indignantly.

"Anyone on the mainland who can compose music? What kind of rubbish do those composers make? On our Green Island, even sanitation workers are better at composing music than people on the mainland. Is it worth you being so happy to bring up music made by amateur troupes? It's probably not even as good as toilet paper in the bathroom, and you actually spent money to buy it?" Gu Hongbang spoke without any politeness.

Su Ennan looked somewhat displeased.

"Hey everyone! Let's at least take a look at the piece first, whether it's good or bad. We can talk about it if it's really not good."

"I have no interest in wasting my time listening to trashy songs." Gu Hongbang was the first to stand up, grabbed his songbook, and left without looking back.

"I'm not interested either, so I'm not listening." Lin Linan also stood up and walked out.

"I'm going to the restroom." Xiong Meiling left as well.

Only Tai Zhengxiao and Su Ennan remained in the office.

Su Ennan felt a chill run down his spine. After being lectured by these music gurus, his resolve wavered.

"Everyone else has left, it seems I'll have to take a look myself. Show me the piece." Tai Zhengxiao didn't leave.

He was about the same age as Su Ennan and couldn't bear to see Su Ennan being neglected.

Su Ennan handed the notebook in her hand to Tai Zhengxiao somewhat blankly.
