Xu Hebin returned home just before dark, stayed overnight, and planned to go to Qin Wenju's dance hall the next afternoon.
He hadn't been home for a month or two, but he came back tonight because his apprentice was covering for him.
He had just finished eating and was dealing with his mother's endless questions.
Do you know how much money your sister made this time?
Xu Hebin was a little confused: "How much money do you make?"
“You’ve been working outside for two years and haven’t earned as much as your sister has in one go. Your sister brought back 80,000 this time.”
Wow! So many!
Xu Hebin now earns nine hundred yuan a month at the Oriental Dance Hall. Looking at Yahe City, there are people who earn more than him by working at the dance hall on a monthly basis, but there aren't many.
But compared to Xu Mei, this is like shaking hands while standing on opposite sides of the Yellow River—it's far inferior.
"You should have followed Xiao Liang back then, and you would have made a lot of money by now."
"Mom! You still dare to talk! You gave birth to Xiaomei who can sing, play instruments, and dance, but what about me? I sing off-key, and my hands are like wooden stakes and chicken claws when I play the piano. Otherwise, would I not be hanging out with Xiaoliang? We're both your children, so how can there be such a big difference? Am I even your biological daughter?"
Xu Hebin's mother paused for a moment, then burst out laughing.
That's true. My daughter used to sing and dance a lot when she was little, but my son never sang again after he realized he sang differently from others when he was in the third grade of elementary school.
Liang Liang and Xu Mei entered the house at that moment.
Liang Liang and Xu Hebin hadn't seen each other for even longer; they hadn't seen each other since after the New Year.
After exchanging pleasantries, Liang Liang asked Xu Hebin if he wanted to come to Lianwan again.
"I can't sing, I can't dance, and I can't play any instruments, so what am I supposed to do?"
"Go do something else! I need manpower, especially from my hometown. I have a unit there that is short of someone in charge."
Yan Liang was in charge of the disco, Lan Kwai Fong was in charge of the small theater, Mu Shuihua was in charge of the dance hall and music school, and Liu Wen managed the audio-visual company.
The factory that presses videotapes and optical discs doesn't yet have anyone Liang Liang can trust to manage it.
Liang Liang plans to have Xu Hebin manage the company.
"I can give you a monthly salary of 1,000 yuan now, and if the business is good, there will be a considerable bonus at the end of the year."
A monthly salary of one thousand yuan is not much more than the monthly salary Qin Wenju gives, and it's also far from home.
Xu Hebin hesitated for a moment, but finally agreed.
Will Qin Wenju have any objections?
Xu Hebin shook his head: "Probably not. I trained two apprentices for her, who can completely replace me."
"Can Sui Fulu go?"
Xu Hebin also shook his head: "He's currently getting intimate with a waitress at the Oriental Dance Hall. Do you think he can go?"
People who are obsessed with adultery should just forget about it.
Xu Hebin thus arrived at Lianwan once again.
Liang Liang called Qin Wenju and told her that Xu Hebin had been taken away.
Qin Wenju was furious when she heard this and started yelling at Liang Liang on the phone.
While Qin Wenju was roaring, Liang Liang's car had traveled a full twenty kilometers, which he remembered from the roadside milestones.
After returning to Lianwan, Liang Liang arranged for Xu Hebin to become the manager of the audio-visual manufacturing plant.
The company has just been established, and the people inside are still in a state of disarray. Even if Xu Hebin is not very good at management, he can control the situation as long as he employs a few of his trusted confidants here.
Of course, he has to figure it out himself. If Liang Liang gives him three years and he still can't figure it out, then he is indeed not leadership material. Even if he goes back and starts his own business, he may not succeed.
Liang Liang now owns seven businesses: Haiyun Dance Hall, Haiyun Disco, Haiyun Music School, Haiyun Audio-Visual Company, two Haiyun Small Theaters, and Haiyun Audio-Visual Production, which produces audio tapes and CDs.
This doesn't even include the two guitar manufacturing companies.
It seems that they have become diversified and corporatized without anyone realizing it.
There should be a unified name now.
Should we call it "Haiyun" (海韵) or "Haiyun" (海韵)?
The name "Haiyun" (海运, meaning sea transport) has been associated with him from the very beginning. It can be said that his rise to prominence was intertwined with the sea transport industry, making it appropriate to use "Haiyun" as the name of his company.
And so, after integration, the name of Haiyun Entertainment Co., Ltd. was finally determined.
Han Chui went to reapply for various business licenses.
Liang Liang then began to formally plan the first album for Haiyun Audio-Visual Company.
In terms of influence and box office appeal, the company's first album should be released by the Blue Shark band, as only an album released by Blue Shark can achieve a great start.
However, after careful consideration, Liang Liang still entrusted this first album to Xu Wei.
When Xu Wei heard that he was in charge of the company's first album release, even the usually composed Xu Wei's legs trembled.
He felt a mountain of pressure suddenly fall on his shoulders.
"Xiao Liang! Will this work? Will this work?"
"Why not?"
“I don’t think it’s a good idea! This is our company’s first album since its establishment, it’s a big deal, and Blue Shark should be the one to release it.”
"Brother Xu! Don't worry, if I say you can do it, you can do it. I'll give you two songs, you can compose the music yourself."
The two songs Liang Liang gave to Xu Wei were "Too Softhearted" and "Norwegian Wood".
Blue Shark Band performed "Norwegian Wood" once, but they haven't performed "Too Softhearted" yet.
He considered selling the song to Su Ennan, but considering its phenomenal sales, he decided to keep it.
He changed the song into a lyrical rock version, intending to keep it for himself, but he doesn't like singing slow lyrical songs; he always felt uncomfortable singing them.
It's like a nest of ants crawling all over you.
There was actually a rock version of this song, but that was twenty years after it was released in 1996. To be honest, that version was just so-so, and he didn't really like it.
Let Xu Wei sing instead.
Liang Liang's intuition told her that Xu Wei's rendition of this song would definitely have a unique flavor.
With these two songs, plus Xu Wei's own impressive tracks, it would be hard for this album not to be a hit.
Xu Wei was captivated by "Norwegian Wood" but initially wasn't particularly fond of "Too Softhearted".
But after listening to Liang Liang's advice, he realized that this song was the real gem.
Therefore, he focused his attention on this piece of music, and revised the arrangement several times.
The album is also named after this song: "Too Softhearted".
"Too Softhearted," "Norwegian Wood," "Blessing," "Youth," "Persistence," "Bluebird," "Two Days," "My Autumn," "Tree," "Eternity," and "Silently"—these are all the tracks on Xu Wei's first album.
There are eleven poems in total.
The album recording started on July 5th. Several bands were involved in the recording of this album, including Han Chuang, Ye Xing, other members of the Blue Shark band, and the Han Mei group.
The recording of this album took about half a month and went quite smoothly.
