It's already the end of August, and the weather is still changing unpredictably.
The weather was fine this morning, but then a cloud suddenly appeared and turned the sky black.
As soon as Liang Liang came out of the guitar workshop, it started to rain.
It wasn't a light drizzle, nor was it a torrential downpour; it was a moderate rain, somewhere in between.
After the start of autumn, any rain will feel cool on your skin, even though it's only the end of August.
Liang Liang ran back to her dormitory and found an old-fashioned raincoat to put on.
Liang Liang left the nightclub alone this time, flagged down a taxi on the street, and arrived at the house ten minutes later.
The two little demons have arrived and are quietly hiding in the house, making no sound.
After checking that no one was around, Liang Liang walked into the courtyard of the house.
That noon, due to the sound of rain, many melodious sounds were diluted and drowned out, and did not reach the outside at all.
Without the burden of worrying about the sound leaking out, the person performed beyond their usual level and filled the bellies of the two hungry cats.
The rain stopped and the clouds dispersed inside, but the wind and rain continued outside.
"Get up and stop pretending to be dead. It's already 12:30. You guys have been keeping me hungry. I need to go get something to eat."
One person at a time is not something an ordinary person can handle.
"I also want to..."
"Don't you dare think about it! Get up now." Liang Liang didn't let Xiao Yao finish speaking. Still thinking? Does she think I'm too old for her?
You two always come together, are you? Are you here to kill me? Still want more? Think again!
Xiaoqian and Xiaoyao giggled, laughing so hard that their bodies shook and many things jiggle.
Liang Liang quickly closed his eyes, chanted some Buddhist mantra, and tried to clear his mind of all distractions.
Ten minutes later, the three of them left the house, found a snack bar to fill their stomachs, and then Liang Liang went back to the Haiyun Dance Hall, while Xiaoqian and Xiaoyao went to the Haiyun Disco to find Xu Mei.
…
Lehe, carrying his guitar, met up with his bandmates at a pre-arranged location on Changsheng Street.
"Got a cigarette?" The drummer, Fang Guoqi, asked him for a cigarette as soon as they met, while the keyboardist and bassist also looked at him hopefully.
Lehe sighed, took out a crumpled cigarette case from his pocket, counted the cigarettes left inside, and handed one to each person.
"I'm out of cigarettes this afternoon. I either have to ask someone else for some or I'll just have to hold it in. By the way, do you guys not even have enough money for the tram?"
The other three just looked at him and laughed.
Lehe looked utterly hopeless: "Did I owe you three something in my past life? You don't even have money for a bus fare?"
A moment of silence.
“My dad used his connections in the development zone to find me a job at a foreign company. If all else fails, I’ll be starting work next month. My dad is right, I’m 22 now, I’ve had my fun, it’s time to settle down and think about something serious,” Zhou Changhai said listlessly.
“That’s the same idea in my family,” Bass Flower Gun added.
Lehe felt a sense of powerlessness; his current situation was no different.
His mother also said that if he continued to be idle and irresponsible all day long, she was prepared to sever ties with him. Anyway, he still had a younger brother, so there was someone to carry on the family line. It was all because he died at birth.
Listen to this! People become ignorant as they get older. Why not support these idealistic and promising young people?
Their band is considered one of the oldest in Lianwan City; they formed in September 1992, and it's been almost two years now.
I don't know what happened, but it seems like I'm becoming less and less successful. Now I don't even have money for a bus fare.
Lehe pulled out a crumpled two-yuan note.
"I only have two yuan on me. The four of us can take a ride to our destination, but we'll have to walk back. Otherwise, we won't be able to get back. So, you guys decide whether we should go or not?"
So at 12:30 pm, four young men carrying guitars, keyboards, and basses huddled under one roof, staring at each other.
Two votes in favor, two votes against, go.
This has led to another predicament.
The four of them squatted against the wall in the corner, watching the rain fall from the sky.
Lehe glanced down unintentionally and saw a dirty five-cent coin at the junction of the curb and the road.
He reached out and picked up the five-cent coin, then stretched out his arm to wash it clean with the rainwater.
"I found a coin. Maybe this is a revelation from God. Let God decide everything. Heads means we're going! Tail means we'll go home, disband the band, and go out to work. What do you all say?"
"Okay!" The responses from the group were weak and listless, as if they hadn't eaten.
Lehe tossed the coin in his hand high into the air.
The coin was thrown about four or five meters high, and then began to fall after reaching its highest point.
The whole process took three or four seconds, and finally the coin fell silently to the ground, splashing up a small spray of water.
The side with the two characters "five" quietly faces the sky.
Lehe looked at the other members of the band.
Zhou Changhai was one of the two people who opposed going, and he reluctantly picked up the coin.
"I'll toss it one more time. If it's still heads, we'll head out. Even if the interview is over, we'll accept it if we have to walk back!"
After saying that, he resolutely tossed the coin into the air again.
This time, the coin's fall was a bit unpredictable. The instant it hit the curb, it spun wildly across the road like a wheel thrown off a speeding vehicle.
The four band members watched as the coin circled the road and finally collapsed two meters away from them.
The side with the words "five points" written on it still faces the sky.
Zhou Changhai stood up abruptly: "Let's go! Since fate has arranged it this way, let's go all out today!"
The four of them arrived at the No. 5 bus stop, boarded the No. 5 trolleybus, and got off at Bohai Park half an hour later.
After getting off the bus, the four of them went straight to the Haiyun Dance Hall. After negotiating with the security guard, they entered the Haiyun Dance Hall.
Although the Ocean Shipping Ballroom is quite famous in the Lianwan rock scene, this was actually their first time visiting.
They weren't the only band visiting for the first time; there were more than a dozen other bands also visiting Haiyun Dance Hall for the first time.
"I didn't expect someone who's studied so hard to come here!"
As Lehe and his three companions entered the Haiyun Dance Hall, some of the bands that had arrived earlier began to discuss the matter.
"Those four poor guys actually had songs nominated? Is God blind?" a long-haired guy said.
He is Yao Han, the lead singer of the band Wentian.
"How could their songs possibly be nominated? They're always going against the grain. While others are playing deep and profound, they're playing high and mighty. I just don't understand why their songs would be nominated."
After the Hanchuang Band entered the Haiyun Dance Hall, none of the dozen or so bands waiting there greeted them.
It's clear that this band is not well-liked within the industry.
