November 5th is the official heating day in Northeast China, or more precisely, in Liaoning Province.
The heating season in Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces starts much earlier than in Lianwan City.
The start of heating means that the freezing season has arrived.
Liang Liang once asked Han Chui to do something, and the deadline was for the ice to freeze.
After a few rounds of drinks at the dinner table, Liang Liang brought up the issue.
"Brother Han! I asked you to clean up that club before I went up to the freezer. Have you finished cleaning it up yet?"
"Don't worry about what you entrusted to me. It's basically all done. The insulation and painting of the walls inside and outside are all finished. As you requested, the insulation layer is all made of fireproof material. The floor and ceiling have also been renovated. The stage and chairs have all been replaced with new ones. Now, the only thing left to do is install the radiators. It will take at most two more days. The day after tomorrow, I can hand over this renovated club to you."
"Don't listen to your bragging! I'm going to check tomorrow, and if there's anything that doesn't match what you've said, I'll deduct your salary."
"If everything I say is correct, is there a bonus?"
"No!"
"This is not fair!"
"Any complaints? Go take the toilet!"
The conversation between Liang Liang and Han Chui attracted the attention of others.
"Xiao Liang! What are you drumming up now?" asked Bian Xuan, the drummer of the Black Island Band at the next table.
"We have quite a few resident bands in our nightclub now, more than ten of them have obtained the qualifications to perform. It's a bit too much competition for everyone to make a living in one nightclub, so I rented an abandoned club from the 1980s and renovated it to use as a small theater. It's been renovating for quite a while now. Once it's finished, we'll hold performances in the small theater every night so these bands can make a living. We'll set the ticket prices to be affordable so that more people will come. As for the revenue sharing, Haiyun plans to only take three-tenths, and in winter we'll take an additional third for heating. The rest is all yours. What do you think?"
Liang Liang provides the platform and is also responsible for providing heating in winter and cooling off in summer. He only takes three to four percent of the turnover, and he feels that his conscience is very good.
This is definitely good news for these bands. Liang Liang has provided them with a stage to perform on, giving them a space to showcase their talents.
The next step is to see if the audience will buy into it.
"This is great news! We little bands really should thank you."
"Don't thank me. I'm not a good person either. I'm doing this to make money off you all from home, provided there are audience members buying tickets. If no one buys tickets, it's all nonsense! How can you expect audiences to voluntarily pay for tickets to your performance? That depends on your creativity. Try your best to create works that you and the audience can both accept. That's a win-win situation. I'll talk to the bands who are resident and rehearsing at our Haiyun Dance Hall tomorrow about this. I hope everyone can work together to maintain this stage. If this stage can solve everyone's livelihood problems, I'll open more small theaters like this in the future, and I don't rule out opening them in other places."
"Clap clap clap!" Le He, the lead singer of the Han Chuang band, started clapping first, and then the others followed suit.
The celebratory drinks for the performance lasted until 1 a.m.
The Huanghai Hotel is only a little over 100 meters away from the Haiyun Dance Hall. After finishing their meal, the group staggered out of the hotel, boasting and bragging under the influence of alcohol, before heading back to the Haiyun Dance Hall to sleep and rest.
Xu Mei and Lin Hanrui are also resting at the Haiyun Dance Hall tonight.
The news that Liang Liang was going to open a small theater spread among the bands in the Haiyun Dance Hall by noon the next day.
There are currently 26 established bands residing and practicing at the Ocean Shipping Ballroom, and another 30 to 40 members who are not yet in bands.
Only twelve bands qualified to perform on the stage of the Ocean Shipping Ballroom. The other bands naturally wanted to have the opportunity to perform, as only by performing could they earn income.
Now that Liang Liang has provided them with a platform to perform, they are naturally overjoyed.
Most band members were eager to see the new performance platform.
Therefore, after lunch, Liang Liang went to check on the current state of the small theater, and was followed by dozens of people.
The exterior of this small theater has not been significantly altered; it has simply been covered with a layer of cement and some promotional posters painted on the walls.
All of these promotional posters are related to bands, with stylishly dressed people holding various musical instruments in cool poses that look so lifelike they could practically run off the walls.
The front of the club had also been freshly painted, and there were two ticket booths on either side of the main entrance, like two cute eyes welcoming Liang Liang and his group.
Liang Liang was quite satisfied with the appearance of the small theater. He greeted the night watchman he had hired and then walked through the door of the club.
The club has two doors, one in the front and one in the back. The front door is for audience members to enter and exit, while the back door is for actors and support staff.
In addition, there are two safety doors on both sides, which are used to evacuate the audience in case of an accident in the theater.
The theater has been completely renovated with new cinema-style seating. The old, dilapidated stage that creaked and rattled when people stepped on it has been replaced by a new one.
"There are 64 cement pillars inside this stage, and then steel beams are built horizontally and vertically on the cement pillars. A layer of steel plate with a thickness of 1.5 millimeters is welded on the steel beams, and a wooden board with a thickness of 2 centimeters is laid on the steel plate."
Han Chui explained the structure of the stage to Liang Liang.
The stage is more than three meters above the ground, so it must be sturdy. If someone steps on it and falls, there is a possibility of death. This is something that cannot be taken lightly.
There were seven or eight workers in overalls working in the studio. They were from the plumbing company hired by Han Chui, and they were installing radiators on the walls around the studio.
The radiators are installed and connected to the heating company's pipes, so you can start using the heating system.
"Did you pre-install the wiring for the audio equipment when you built the wall? It would look terrible if people came to install the audio equipment and there were exposed wires running outside the wall."
"You're asking about something so trivial? The wiring was designed by a professional audio installation specialist, so there won't be any problems. They'll be here to install the audio equipment in two days!"
Liang Liang also spent 400,000 yuan on the sound equipment for this small theater. Considering the size of the club, although the equipment at this price point isn't the best, it's relatively high-end for the area.
Liang Liang spent over 600,000 yuan on this club, including equipment and setup.
It's unclear when he'll be able to recoup his investment.
