Chapter 505 Everything is Ready

The band Ocean Waves went to Southern Pacific Company for promotions, and then they'll be coming back to participate in a music festival. After the festival, they'll start preparing for their new album.

This is their process this year.

Mayday is basically the same.

Liang Liang would prepare new albums for them.

Liang Liang was very enthusiastic about making albums for them. The albums were bestsellers and his share of the profits was very considerable. Moreover, this share of the profits was his personal share and had nothing to do with the band.

In the past year or so, these albums have brought him over ten million yuan in revenue. Even now, the two albums he produced for the bands Ocean Waves and Mayday still bring him several thousand yuan a day.

Although the hype surrounding the albums has died down, both albums still sell thousands of copies a day.

There's less than a month until the music festival, and they'll be back soon.

As Liang Liang's first music festival, it was naturally necessary to have some heavyweight bands to support the event. With established bands like Blue Shark, Black Panther, Sea Waves, and Mayday in attendance, along with rising stars such as Han Chuang, Xu Wei, and Black Island, the lineup for this year's music festival was quite impressive.

When Huang Jie and his group first came to Lianwan, Liang Liang stuffed them into a small theater.

Upon seeing this small theater, which had only been in use for less than half a month, Huang Jie and the guests from Shucun exclaimed in amazement.

Although it's quite different from the dance halls and nightclubs in Beijing, it's a million times better than their Shucun.

This sound system, costing hundreds of thousands of yuan, is something even some of the lower-end nightclubs in Beijing wouldn't dare to offer.

They took the stage at the Lianwan Small Theater and sang a new song they had composed after the Lunar New Year, inspired by Liang Liang. The song and melody changed from their previous decadent style to one full of fighting spirit.

The audience in Lianwan City was not familiar with them. Although their songs were decent, they didn't receive much applause, let alone tips.

Even without tips, each band still received 150 yuan after a performance.

This made the band from Shucun marvel at the great rock atmosphere in Lianwan.

In Beijing, they sometimes perform a whole show and only earn a hundred or eighty yuan. After the show, besides taking a taxi, they probably only have enough left to buy beer.

Here, each team only sang two songs on stage and received this much money. They didn't need to take a taxi home; they could rest in the small theater after the performance.

With this money as a safety net, at least we don't have to worry about going hungry.

Eating well is a bit of a luxury, but instant noodles and fried dough sticks are more than enough.

This time, Huang Jie was genuinely considering staying.

With food to eat, Liang Liang stopped worrying. He called Xu Mei and Lin Hanrui to the Haiyun Dance Hall to rehearse a new dance with the Blue Shark Band.

Upon hearing the melody, Xu Mei immediately insisted that the song must be given to her Hanmei duo.

Liang Liang promised to make a dance album for them, but so far there are only three songs, one of which is shared with the Sea Waves band.

I didn't tell anyone else!

Starting from June 10th, bands that received invitations began arriving in Lianwan City.

Two more bands have arrived in Beijing, one is Black Panther, and the other was brought here by Douwei.

Bands from within the Third Ring Road simply don't come.

Those who played rock music within the Third Ring Road were basically among the first rock musicians in China.

These people were not ordinary people; each of them came from a prominent family. In that era, families that had access to rock music were definitely not ordinary people.

These bands are usually not short of money; they're the kind of rich people who play rock and roll. When they run out of money, they just ask their families for it. That's what makes the bands outside the Third Ring Road look down on them; they call them a bunch of losers.

This band, which was brought in by Douwei, clearly has plenty of money, yet they named themselves a "poor man's band." Isn't that just ridiculous?

Speaking of the Poor Man's Band, in his previous life, Liang Liang saw a band from Guangdong called Poor Man's Band on Youku. The only thing that left an impression on him was their cover of Lao Xie's song "The Cyclic Sun". He thought they sang it better than the original, especially the scream in the middle.

The songs that the Poor Man's Band played at the music festival gave Liang Liang a headache. The songs were the kind of songs that were played in the Beijing rock scene that specifically targeted social problems.

Liang Liang didn't want this kind of music, but considering that Dou Wei had invited him, he didn't say anything.

A band came from Songyang, the provincial capital, and a band came from Changchun, but three bands came from Harbin, the northernmost city.

In order to perform at the music festival, Xu Wei also formed his own band. He now has a lot of money and can form a band again. He thought he would never form a band again in his life.

Since they had formed a band, they naturally needed a name, so Xu Wei thought for a moment and named the band "Kong" (çİş).

In his previous life, Xu Wei later became a Buddhist, and many of his songs carried a Zen-like quality. Is this trend already emerging now? Otherwise, why would he name his band "Emptiness"?

"Brother Xu! Does your 'emptiness' mean 'form is emptiness'?"

Xu Wei smiled slightly but did not answer.

Xu Wei is the kind of person who would rather sing than talk, which is a big difference between him and Liang Liang. However, he, Wang Fan, and Liu Yuyong are on the same page.

The bands Ocean Wave and Mayday returned on the 14th and 15th respectively.

Han Chui made a statistic: there were eleven bands from other places, and forty local bands that could perform on stage.

These forty local bands include the Azalea Band from Landi City and the Red Cliff Band and Sound River Band from Yahe.

Although Yinna River Band isn't exactly a rock band, Liang Liang still invited them.

Even though there weren't many bands from other places, there were more than enough bands to perform on stage.

The music festival features two shows a day, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, running for five days. Each ticket costs eight yuan.

According to calculations, a single performance at the music school could bring in between five and six thousand people.

To improve safety, Liang Liang set a standard of 5,000 people per event and sold 5,000 tickets per event.

Each performance lasts three and a half to four hours, with no fewer than fifteen bands performing each time, and each band can sing two songs.

A week before the music festival opened, the advertising campaign began, using newspapers, flyers, radio, and television to cover almost the entire city of Lienwan and its three surrounding cities and one county.

For this, Liang Liang spent 200,000 yuan on advertising alone.

Han managed to secure nearly 100,000 yuan in sponsorship fees through a series of rambling efforts; otherwise, he might not have been able to earn those advertising fees at all.

While preparations for the music festival were in full swing, Zhao Fang's construction team was also racing against time. Three days before the festival's opening, the new building on the east side of the music school was completed.

Liang Liang also presided over the topping-out ceremony of the building.

After the building is topped out, it will enter the interior and exterior decoration phase, which is expected to be completed in one month.
