Chapter 171 Leopards and Wolves

After following the footprints for about ten minutes, the two walked out of a forest.

The soil ahead had become so dry and hard that the footprints were no longer visible.

Fortunately, the leopard left not long ago and the scent was still in the air. Ruyi had a sensitive sense of smell and was able to track it.

Ruyi sniffed the scent and led the way, stopping and starting.

There were no dense trees in this area, so Chen Wang turned off the flashlight to avoid scaring the prey.

Suddenly, Ruyi stopped and growled towards the front.

This is the cry it makes when it discovers prey, and perhaps because it thinks the prey is dangerous, the sound is deeper than usual.

Chen Wang and the other man stopped instantly, their bodies tense.

The three dogs were about to rush out, but were called back by Chen Wang and the others.

The prey is a top predator like a leopard. There is no way the three dogs could catch up with it if they rushed over like that. They would only alert the prey.

There may even be great danger.

"Approach slowly. If there's a chance, I'll shoot first and you can follow up."

Chen Wang lowered his voice and said.

When facing a dangerous prey like a leopard, there is no room for humility.

"good!"

Chen Dazhuang nodded in response.

The two men raised their loaded shotguns and approached step by step under Ruyi's guidance.

The dogs were very smart and tried not to make any noise, always keeping a posture ready to fight at any time.

After walking about four or five hundred meters, as the distance got closer, the dogs became noticeably more excited, baring their teeth and growling.

Chen Wang and the other man tried to comfort them again and again before they stopped rushing over.

"stop!"

Chen Dazhuang suddenly shouted in a low voice.

Chen Wang also saw something almost at the same time, stopped, and his pupils contracted slightly.

A hundred meters ahead, there was a yellow-brown figure over one meter long, gnawing on something with its head down. The bright red blood and moonlight intertwined, making its face look very hideous.

“It’s a leopard indeed!”

Chen Dazhuang looked excited.

"Shhh...quiet!"

Chen Wang whispered to calm the restless dogs and raised his shotgun to aim.

The distance is a bit far, beyond the shooting range.

Chen Wang cautiously moved forward step by step, adjusting the crosshairs at the same time.

Chen Dazhuang also followed, ready to fire again at any time.

“Whoosh, whoosh!”

At this time, Chen Wang gave several dogs instructions to attack.

Several dogs received the order and immediately jumped out.

Not far away, the leopard that was eating with its head down moved its ears, as if it had noticed something, and looked over here.

Chen Wang and the other man's expressions changed slightly, obviously they didn't expect his insight to be so sharp.

There was no time to think about it. After taking aim, Chen Wang pulled the trigger.

"Bang!!!"

The sound of gunfire echoed through the forest at night.

Almost at the moment he fired the shot, the leopard gave up its food and ran away.

The bullet was a few tenths of a second late and hit the spot where the leopard had just stood.

"Bang!!"

Chen Dazhuang also fired a shot.

Still failed.

The leopard was so fast, like a flash of lightning, it had distanced itself from the other two in the blink of an eye, leaving no room for the two men to shoot.

“Oh no!”

Chen Wang's face darkened.

“Go after him!”

Chen Dazhuang shouted and started chasing after him.

Chen Wang also ran after him.

Both of them knew that judging by the speed displayed by the leopard, this was the best opportunity and it would be difficult for them to catch up.

Several dogs chased closely but were still left behind by the leopard. Even the big tiger running in the front could only follow behind and eat dust.

Chen Wang and his companion chased for a few hundred meters and then gave up helplessly.

It's impossible to catch up, and it's night in the mountains, so running like this is also very dangerous.

The two returned to the place where the leopard had eaten before and saw a half-eaten roe deer.

The abdomen of the roe deer was hollowed out, and the internal organs and abdominal meat were eaten away, revealing a white skeleton and minced meat, with only the hind legs and part of the front head left.

"Damn, this leopard is too alert. Awang, what should we do now?"

Chen Dazhuang asked.

"Wait a minute."

Chen Wang said this and looked up in the direction the dogs were chasing.

“Squeak!!”

A familiar voice was heard, and the little monkey Jixiang came over.

Chen Wang's face lit up with joy, and he waved his hand and said, "Jixiang, come here!"

Jixiang ran in front of him, making squeaking sounds and gesturing with his hands, probably saying that they were running too fast and he couldn't keep up.

"Go find them, get them back, don't chase them."

Chen Wang communicates using sign language.

Jixiang is very smart. After living with them, he often saw Lin Xiuqin expressing her meaning using sign language, and he could understand some simple ones.

“Chichi!”

Jixiang responded and turned around to look for some dogs.

"Brother Zhuang, let's just wait here. Maybe the leopard will be reluctant to part with its prey and will come back."

Chen Wang said with a smile.

“That makes sense!”

Chen Dazhuang's eyes lit up.

Afterwards, the two men moved away from the leftover roe deer on the ground, squatted in a bush in the distance, and hid their bodies.

About ten minutes later, Chen Wang and his companion saw the two puppies, Ruyi and Yanwang, coming back and standing beside the silly roe deer, barking and looking for them.

Maybe they ran the slowest and were left behind, and then they came back on their own.

Chen Wang blew the whistle.
