Chapter 243: Landing Point

Then two more hares were caught.

Ruyi discovered them first, but Chen Wang did not shoot and let the dogs chase the rabbits.

One of the hares was caught by Yang's hunting dog, and the other was snatched by Chen Dazhuang's marshal.

Ruyi's sense of smell is undoubtedly the sharpest among the dogs, but he is still growing, and his speed and strength are still far behind those of an adult hunting dog.

Seeing that it was almost 12 o'clock, the group of four returned to the meeting point.

After waiting for a few minutes, Chen Jianjun and his two companions came back, and Yang Heping was carrying a yellow wild boar on his shoulders.

"Dad, you killed a wild boar!"

Yang Xuewu said excitedly.

"Well, I'm lucky. Dabao found it."

Yang Heping nodded with a smile, put down the yellow-haired wild boar that had been bled, and said to Yang Xuewen, "Awen, you take care of it and give the internal organs to the dogs."

Yang Xuewu nodded in agreement, squatted forward, took out a knife and began to gut the yellow pig.

"Did you guys get any good stuff too?"

Yang Heping glanced at the bulging sack and asked in surprise.

"Awang killed a roe deer!"

Chen Dazhuang answered with a smile.

"Oh? Sure!"

Yang Heping looked at Chen Wang with admiration.

“Thanks to Ruyi.”

Chen Wang smiled and said.

Afterwards, everyone found a flat place, lit a fire, took out the prepared dry food and started eating.

The Yang family's father and son were used to bringing food, but it was very simple, just a few cornmeal buns.

Yang Xuewu took some dry food and distributed it to everyone, but only Chen Jianjun took one.

"Awang?"

"Thank you. I brought some pancakes."

Chen Wang smiled and waved his hand to decline, then took out the pancake and the jar of pickled vegetables from the medicine basket.

"Who wants some pancakes? And these pickles are made by my wife herself. They are delicious."

"Give me some."

Chen Dazhuang reached out and took a pancake with a smile, spread it out, put some pickled vegetables in it with chopsticks, rolled it up, and started to devour it.

Seeing this, the Yang family father and his two sons, who were eating cornmeal buns, immediately felt that the food lost its appetite.

"Master, come."

Chen Wang rolled a pancake and handed it to the master first.

"You eat what you want, I'll just eat this steamed bun."

"Take it, there are still plenty!"

Unable to resist, Chen Jianjun still took the big cake.

Chen Wang looked at Yang Xuewu who was sitting opposite him and saw him staring at the pancake in his hand. He said with a smile, "If you want to eat, come over and roll it yourself. Do you want me to hand it to you one by one?"

"Hehe... Then I won't be polite."

Yang Xuewu stood up with a silly smile, walked around to his side, picked up a pancake and rolled it up.

"Get one for your brother and your dad too!"

"Okay, thank you. These pancakes and pickles look delicious."

"Why are you being so pretentious? I brought so much to begin with. I can't eat late by myself."

Chen Wang smiled and looked at Yan Laoliu over there.

Yan Laoliu didn't bring any dry food, but he quickly prepared a rabbit, found a wooden stick to skewer it, and started roasting it in his hands.

"Um...Uncle Yan, would you like to try this cake?"

Chen Wang shouted.

Yan Laoliu didn't react at all. He stared blankly at the flipped roasted rabbit in his hand, wondering what he was thinking.

“Sixth Brother!!”

Yang Heping shouted in support.

Yan Laoliu finally reacted and looked at him with a puzzled expression.

"Awang asked you if you want to eat some cake."

Yang Heping pouted at Chen Wang.

Upon hearing this, Yan Laoliu looked at Chen Wang and shook his head.

Chen Wang smiled and nodded, but didn't force it.

"Awang, don't worry about it. He is just a taciturn person."

Yang Heping smiled and made some remark to smooth things over.

"Yeah, it's okay."

Chen Wang smiled and said.

"Dad, this is for you!"

Yang Xuewu walked over and handed a wrapped cake to his father.

"He never brought anything with him into the mountains except a hunting rifle and a hunting dog. When he was hungry, he would roast pheasants or rabbits. When he was thirsty, he would drink water from the stream. He lived like a savage."

As Yang Heping spoke, he took the burrito and took a big bite.

"Mm, delicious. These pickles are better than those made by my wife."

"Indeed, Awang, it tastes really good."

Yang Xuewu nodded in agreement with a bright smile.

"That's good."

Chen Wang smiled and nodded.

Afterwards, everyone ate their dry food and talked about their plans for the afternoon and evening.

Chen Wang observed Yan Laoliu with some curiosity. After he roasted the rabbit, he didn't show any intention of sharing it with others. He simply cut pieces of meat from the rabbit with a knife and put them into his mouth, chewing slowly in silence.

After eating a few bites himself, he would tear off a piece with the bone and throw it to the two hunting dogs lying nearby.

The roasted rabbit didn't even seem to be cooked through, and there was no seasoning. It looked woody and dry.

"We need to find a place to stay for the night so we can store the prey we catch."

Yang Heping made a suggestion.

"Awang, Dazhuang, is the cave we visited last time far from here? If not, let's go there!"

Chen Jianjun suddenly looked at the two of them and said.

Chen Wang looked around, thinking about their current location and the location of the cave.

"What cave? Where is it?"

Yang Xuewu asked curiously.

Chen Jianjun then told the story about the cave and the murder that happened in the village.

The Yang family's father and son were all shocked when they heard this.

Even the taciturn Yan Laoliu looked up at Chen Jianjun and listened attentively.
