Chapter 246: Dark Shadows in the Mountains

“Ouch—”

The sound of wolves howling could be heard in the distance.

Most people would be scared if they were alone in the mountains and heard the howling of wolves.

However, the hunting team consisted of seven people, seven hunting rifles, and more than ten excellent hunting dogs. The mere howling of wolves was unlikely to cause any ripples in their hearts.

Even if an entire wolf pack encountered them, they would turn around and run away.

Yang Xuewen led the way with a flashlight, and the others followed behind. Chen Wang and Chen Dazhuang walked side by side at the end.

"ah!!!"

Yang Xuewu suddenly exclaimed.

Everyone was shocked.

"Awu, what are you doing?"

Yang Heping shouted in a deep voice.

"Dad, there was a snake just now, and I almost stepped on it."

Yang Xuewu smiled awkwardly.

"What snake? Are you okay?"

Upon hearing this, Yang Xuewen immediately shone the flashlight at his feet.

"It's okay, I ran over there."

Yang Xuewu pointed to the bushes not far away.

"Be careful, let's go!"

Yang Heping spoke.

The team continued to move forward.

"Tsk, tsk, a snake can scare you like this."

Chen Dazhuang joked with a smile.

"You know nothing. I'm most afraid of snakes. There are a lot of poisonous snakes in this season. You'd better be careful with your steps and don't get bitten."

Yang Xuewu said unhappily.

Like black bears, snakes will hibernate in the winter when the temperature is very low. After the Waking of Insects, they will gradually wake up from hibernation and crawl out of their caves to look for food.

Most species of snakes are also active at night.

It's really threatening in the mountains at night.

"You must be joking. I'll just stomp it to death and take it back to make snake soup!"

Chen Dazhuang sneered.

"Just blow it!"

Yang Xuewu curled his lips in disbelief.

“I… Holy shit!!”

Chen Dazhuang suddenly swore and bumped into Chen Wang in horror.

"What are you doing?"

Chen Wang frowned slightly.

"What are you doing? Why are you making so much noise?"

Chen Jianjun turned around and asked.

"I, I think I stepped on a snake too."

"Hahaha... Aren't you afraid? Are you going to step on it to death and make soup?"

Yang Xuewu laughed unceremoniously.

The light shone at Chen Dazhuang's feet, but he didn't see the snake he was talking about.

"Where did the snake come from? Did you really see it clearly?"

"No, no, it just felt like I stepped on a snake, a soft one."

"It's not your illusion, is it?"

Chen Wang questioned with a strange expression.

"That's for sure. He was definitely too scared and thought he stepped on a snake. Maybe it was just a stick or something."

Yang Xuewu agreed with a smile.

"Bullshit, I said it was soft, how could it be a wooden stick?"

Chen Dazhuang retorted with a red face.

Chen Wang also took out a flashlight from the medicine basket, turned it on and shone it around his feet, but didn't see any snake.

“Woof!!”

Ruyi suddenly screamed, but did not jump out, nor did she feel like she was facing a formidable enemy.

"Look, Ruyi has discovered it. It is definitely a snake."

Chen Dazhuang shouted excitedly.

"It could be a lizard or something. Let's go and ignore it for now."

Chen Jianjun urged.

Chen Wang and the other two didn't say anything else and continued to move forward with the team.

After walking for about ten minutes, Dabao, who was leading the way with Yang Xuewen, suddenly ran out shouting.

Several hunting dogs of the Yang family followed.

"Dabao found something, hurry up and follow."

Yang Heping shouted excitedly.

Everyone trotted after him.

When they caught up with a few dogs, they saw that Dabao was biting the neck of a prey tightly.

It was a wild boar, struggling weakly and almost dying.

Yang Xuewen walked up quickly, took the badger from Dabao's mouth, rubbed its head, and took out a piece of dried meat from his pocket to feed it.

“This is too fast.”

Chen Dazhuang couldn't help but sigh.

"Nonsense, it would take our Dabao a long time to deal with this kind of prey."

Yang Xuewu smiled quite proudly.

Chen Dazhuang wanted to refute, but swallowed the words back and watched Yang Xuewen bleeding the badger with envy.

This dog is really powerful, and the other dogs helping him also react very quickly.

Yang Xuewen simply bled the badger skillfully and threw it into a sack.

After walking for a few more minutes, Ruyi suddenly shouted and jumped out.

When everyone caught up, they found that it was blocking a hole and digging the soil with its claws.

"Isn't this a snake hole?"

Yang Xuewu guessed in surprise.

Yang Heping shook his head and said, "It looks like a rabbit hole."

"Awang, use smoke!"

Chen Jianjun stepped forward and proposed.

Chen Dazhuang quickly found a handful of hay nearby, and Chen Wang found the other two exits of the rabbit hole nearby. He asked Dahu and Ruyi to guard one, while he guarded the other.

As the hay ignited, thick smoke entered the cave.

Soon, a rabbit head popped out of the hole that Chen Wang was guarding.

Chen Wang had been waiting with a stone in his hand, and the moment he saw the rabbit pop up, he smashed it down.

The cute rabbit was hit on the head and died on the spot.

Chen Wang pulled the rabbit out of the hole and was happily about to put it into the sack.

"Woof! Woof!"

Suddenly, Dahu and Ruyi shouted.

"What's the dog barking at!"

Chen Wang yelled, and then was surprised to find that Dahu also had a rabbit in his mouth.
