"Awang, let me cook!"
Wang Chunmei came out of the house and shouted with a smile on her face.
Chen Wang turned his head to look at her, smiled and said, "Mom, you must be tired after the ride here, sit down and chat with Xiuqin for a while and take a rest, I will cook."
"I'm not tired, I'm here to cook for you and take care of my little sister. You're a grown man, how can I let you cook all the time?"
Nowadays, there are indeed very few men who cook.
Wang Chunmei just chatted with her youngest daughter and learned that during this period of time, whenever Chen Wang was at home, it was almost always Chen Wang who cooked the meals.
Wang Chunmei was touched that her son-in-law could take such good care of her daughter, and she also felt that since she was there, she should help more.
"Mom, let me cook today. We use a lot of oil, salt and other ingredients in our family. Please help me first."
"Okay, then I'll watch you do it and learn from you."
"No, no, no, my cooking skills are far worse than yours and Xiuqin's."
Chen Wang smiled and shook his head repeatedly.
"Awang, you are already amazing for being able to cook. People like Lao Lin and your two brothers basically don't care about this."
Wang Chunmei said seriously.
Lin Xiuqin walked over with a smile on her face. Listening to her mother's words, her heart was filled with happiness and pride.
Chen Wang just smiled and said nothing more. He went around to light the fire in the stove and prepared to start cooking.
Knowing that her mother would come over today, Lin Xiuqin prepared a lot of ingredients.
The main ingredients include processed crucian carp, smoked wild boar leg meat, and some meatballs and braised beef that were sent from Chen Dazhuang's banquet.
Chen Wang prepared to stew a crucian carp soup first.
After the pot was heated, Chen Wang picked up the oil barrel and poured half a bowl of oil into the pot.
This scene made Lin's mother's eyes twitch, and she finally understood what Chen Wang had just said.
When the Lin family cooks, they never use so much oil.
"Awang, did you put too much oil?"
Wang Chunmei couldn't help but ask.
"No, for this crucian carp and tofu soup, it would be better if you add more oil and fry it."
Chen Wang smiled and put in the two crucian carps that his wife had already prepared.
Speaking of which, these fish were the ones I kept for myself when I purchased the fish a few days ago.
I haven't gone to Lao Lu to buy fish for several days. I should go there tomorrow morning.
That means sending the fish to the city to sell, which will be a longer journey, the loss may be higher, and dead fish cannot be sold at a good price.
He then thought that since he had a tractor, he might as well use a few larger containers, fill them with water and put the fish in them. That would probably be much better.
Wang Chunmei looked at her daughter beside her and pointed at the fish in the pot.
Lin Xiuqin smiled and nodded, indicating that there was nothing wrong with Chen Wang's approach.
The dish that Chen Wang cooks for her most often is probably this crucian carp and tofu soup, which is also the one that suits her taste the most.
"Auntie, the fish soup my brother made is delicious."
The little girl came over holding the little fox and said with a smile.
Wang Chunmei heard this and observed carefully.
"Mom, can you help me cut the tofu?"
Chen Wang said with a smile.
"Oh, okay, I'll cut it."
Wang Chunmei nodded hurriedly and agreed, then turned around and went to the table at the back to cut tofu.
After both sides of the fish are fried until golden brown, Chen Wang pours in clean water and then adds scallion segments and ginger slices.
“Put the tofu in now?”
Wang Chunmei asked while holding the cut tofu.
“Let it go!”
Chen Wang smiled and nodded.
The mother-in-law poured the tofu into the pot, and then watched Chen Wang add salt, rice wine, and a little soy sauce.
After the flavor was adjusted, Chen Wang took a clean earthenware jar, scooped everything in the pot into the jar, and simmered it over low heat.
"Mom, do you want rice or noodles?"
Chen Wang looked at his mother-in-law and asked.
"Ah? I, I can do anything!"
Mother Lin answered in a daze.
She usually eats whole grains at home, but here, she only has two choices: rice and noodles?
"Then steam the rice, and then I'll stir-fry two dishes."
"Yeah, no need to bother too much, just enough to eat."
"It's no trouble."
Chen Wang smiled slightly and told the little girl, "Xiaoyu, go wash the rice and get more rice."
"Okay."
The little girl agreed with a smile. After putting the little fox down, she took a basin to fetch water to wash the rice.
"Xiaoyu, I'll do it!"
Lin's mother immediately went over to help.
After washing the rice, Chen Wang prepared another pot with an appropriate amount of water, and put the washed rice in to simmer.
All that’s left is to stir-fry two dishes.
Slice the wild boar leg meat and stir-fry with green and red peppers.
Cut the meatballs and stir-fry them with braised beef and garlic sprouts.
Finally, Chen Wang felt that he was missing a vegetarian dish, so he got some amaranth and stir-fried it.
Several dishes were brought to the table in the house, and the crucian carp and tofu soup was also ready.
I took a large soup bowl and poured it out. The soup was milky white and had a fresh aroma.
"This stew is so colorful, it looks delicious."
Mother Lin picked up the soup bowl with a look of surprise.
"Be careful of the heat!"
Chen Wang hurriedly reminded.
"It's okay. It's okay."
Mother Lin smiled gently and went into the house with the bowl in her hand.
Chen Wang opened the lid of the other side of the pot and saw that the rice was also cooked.
Lin Xiuqin handed him an enamel basin and scooped the rice into it.
The food was served on the table and several people sat around it.
