Chen Wang and Dong Qinghua didn't sleep either. They sat in front of the fire and talked a lot.
It was around two in the morning when Chen Dazhuang woke up from snoring and holding his breath.
"Why aren't you two asleep?"
After sitting up, Chen Dazhuang looked at the two of them with some surprise.
"It's hard for me to fall asleep here, but you sleep so soundly."
Dong Qinghua said with a smile.
"Am I snoring?"
Chen Dazhuang realized the deeper meaning of his words.
"What do you think? It almost caused the cave to collapse."
Chen Wang joked with amusement.
"Hahaha……"
Dong Qinghua couldn't help laughing.
"It's not that exaggerated!"
Chen Dazhuang scratched his head with a wry smile.
Chen Wang stood up, stretched his waist, and said, "Let's go, let's go out and walk around the area, we have to go back at six o'clock."
“Go, go, go!”
Dong Qinghua immediately stood up.
"No, how come you two are still so energetic!"
"Is it possible that you are too weak?"
"fart!"
"Haha...you two are so funny."
Chatting and laughing, the three of them picked up their belongings and walked out of the cave with the dogs.
It was still dark outside, so Dong Qinghua turned on the flashlight in his hand and illuminated the way ahead.
Several hunting dogs walked skillfully in front to lead the way.
The little monkey was sitting on Chen Wang's shoulder and was also yawning.
It was just sleeping next to Chen Wang.
“Squeak!”
The little monkey called out to Chen Wang and pointed to the woods not far away.
Chen Wang smiled and nodded, "Go ahead, but don't run too far."
The little monkey chirped in response, jumped off his shoulder, ran into the woods ahead, jumped onto a tree and disappeared.
The three men searched with their hunting dogs for more than ten minutes but found nothing.
“Ouch—”
Suddenly, a low and long wolf howl was heard.
Judging from the sound, they were not far away.
"What the hell, wolf?"
Dong Qinghua was startled, and his face tensed instantly.
Chen Dazhuang smiled and patted his shoulder, comforting him: "Don't be afraid, even if a pack of wolves encounter us, we have to run away."
"What if they don't run away?"
Dong Qinghua asked very straightforwardly.
Chen Dazhuang was speechless for a moment.
"Then you have to hope there aren't too many of them."
Chen Wang grinned and took over the conversation.
"Awang, now that you say that, I'm even more scared."
Dong Qinghua said with a bitter face.
"Don't worry, most wolf packs have six to eight members. Anything over ten is considered a large pack. There are definitely no wolf packs with dozens of members in this mountain. Wolves need too much territory."
Chen Wang smiled and gave him some basic knowledge.
“I see!”
After listening to this, Dong Qinghua felt much more relaxed.
If there were only seven or eight wolves, they would have five hunting dogs, two shotguns and three people, so they would not be afraid.
"Awang, could it be the wolf pack that came here at night when we were resting in this cave after we killed a black bear last time?"
Chen Dazhuang asked with a serious expression.
“Very likely!”
Chen Wang nodded slightly.
"What's going on?"
Dong Qinghua asked with a puzzled look on his face.
Chen Dazhuang told him how they escaped from the cave last time when they were trapped by wolves.
"Fuck, are you guys so thrilling every day?"
Dong Qinghua complained with a weird expression.
"I remember there were 12 wolves in the pack last time. It's not that we couldn't defeat them, but we were worried that a few dogs would get hurt. The gain was not proportional to the risk, so we chose to drive them away."
Chen Wang smiled and said.
"What if we meet again today?"
"If necessary, then fight!"
"Uh...you all have guns, but I don't. I should have brought a knife for self-defense."
"I have a knife here, give it to you."
Chen Dazhuang handed the knife he carried with him to Dong Qinghua.
“This is too short!”
"Don't underestimate it, it's very useful. Aim at the wolf's neck or heart and it will kill it with one blow."
As he spoke, Chen Dazhuang waved the knife and demonstrated it to him.
Dong Qinghua took the knife with a smile on his face and muttered, "I hope I don't really have to fight a wolf. It would be too exciting for me to experience hunting in the mountains for the first time."
As soon as these words were spoken, Chen Wang and Chen Dazhuang laughed at the same time.
After walking for another four or five minutes, the wolf howling sounded again, and it seemed to be farther away.
Dong Qinghua breathed a sigh of relief.
He came here to hunt, but he definitely didn't want to encounter a pack of wolves, because that would result in the situation being reversed and they themselves would become the prey.
Moreover, he had heard that the wolves in the mountains in winter were likely to be hungry wolves.
Just then, the little monkey suddenly came back.
After jumping onto Chen Wang's shoulder, it squeaked and pointed in a direction ahead, signaling them to go over.
"Did the little monkey find prey?"
Dong Qinghua's eyes lit up and he asked excitedly.
He had already seen Ruyi's abilities, but not the little monkey's, and he was more interested in the little monkey's help in hunting.
"Let's go and take a look."
Chen Wang smiled and touched the little monkey's head, then went in the direction it pointed.
Then, one wolf howl after another was heard, and the sound was getting closer and closer.
Now the three of them realized that something was wrong.
"Oh my goodness, Awang, the prey your little monkey found couldn't be a pack of wolves!"
