Chapter 148 Do you think I'm a vegetarian?

Madam Xia is no pushover. With so many men and women in her household who are into tea and lotus flowers, how could she not understand?

She stood up and said to the shop owner, "It's a shame to waste them, brother, don't hold it against them. How about another serving of those two flavors? And extra of that malt flavor? It's delicious!"

"Sigh! This pretty lady really knows her stuff!" The shopkeeper beamed and added an extra spoonful of topping.

Yang Yajing secretly chuckled to herself, thinking, "Now that Sister Tao wants to buy it herself, let's see how you continue to target me? Or will you continue to flatter me?"

Jiang Xuanxuan and Wang Xiuzhen froze for a moment when they saw Madam Xia's actions.

So it wasn't Yang Yajing trying to persuade her to drink it, but she wanted to drink it herself? How could she be so blind as to throw away Mrs. Xia's drink just now?

Besides, how could Madam Xia be so low-class as to drink such a roadside beverage?

Didn't Yang Yajing remind them beforehand? Anyone would think that she, a tasteless poor woman, bought drinks from a roadside stall and forced them on a wealthy lady like Madam Xia.

However, both of them were thick-skinned, and since Madam Xia had taken the initiative to offer the drink, they changed their tone.

"Oh dear! Madam Xia! It was my carelessness! I never expected Madam Xia to have such leisure and refined tastes? You are truly down-to-earth!" Wang Xiuzhen said, twisting her body.

Madam Xia ignored Wang Xiuzhen, took a sip, and handed the cup to Yang Yajing: "Try it? Now it's flavorful enough!"

Yang Yajing took the cup, took a sip through the straw, and said with a smile, "Sister Tao, you've turned misfortune into blessing! It really does taste even better with an extra spoonful!"

Jiang Xuanxuan was displeased and whispered a reminder: "Yangyang, these things all have a lot of additives, right? Yangyang should also advise Madam Xia to drink less of them, as they're bad for her skin!"

Yang Yajing raised her head, blinked her big eyes, and looked at Jiang Xuanxuan and Wang Xiuzhen with curiosity, then looked at Madam Xia, and put on a look of sudden realization.

Mrs. Xia knew at a glance that Yang Yajing was about to criticize someone again, and immediately added insult to injury with a wicked underhanded remark: "What did you see?"

Yang Yajing answered seriously, nodding as she spoke: "It seems to be based on experience. They must have eaten too much food from their own supermarket! To remind you of their mistakes!"

"You're the one who added too many additives!" the shop owner couldn't hold back any longer. "All those wrinkles on your face, did you get them from drinking my milk tea? Humph!"

"What's it to you?" Wang Xiuzhen glared at the young boss.

"Boss, you've misunderstood! They've never had milk tea in their lives!" Yang Yajing said deliberately.

"Hmph! When did I offend you? Are you trying to ruin my business?" Someone chimed in, and the small business owner became smug. "Look at this lady, her skin is amazing! If she didn't call me 'brother,' I would have thought she was only in her early thirties! Will drinking my milk tea make me look old?"

“Boss,” Yang Yajing quickly interjected, “How can drinking milk tea make you look old? Their family owns a supermarket, so they probably know the ingredients of their products. Or maybe they’ve been drinking too much tainted milk powder. It’s not your fault!”

“You’re the one who’s drunk too much toxic milk powder! Our milk powder is fine!” Wang Xiuzhen shouted again.

"Ya Jing, you're saying that the tainted milk powder was produced by their family?" Madam Xia was being mischievous again. "Everyone says that drinking tainted milk powder will turn you into a big-headed monster, no wonder their faces are so big!"

Madam Xia's feigned ignorance and curiosity made Yang Yajing suppress her laughter but dare not laugh.

Wang Xiuzhen and Jiang Xuanxuan wanted to curse, but they didn't dare. They had come to curry favor with Madam Xia; how could they possibly argue with her?

Since Madam Xia said they had big faces, they just flattered Madam Xia by saying she was well-maintained, blah blah blah, until their ears were calloused.

After finally finishing her milk tea amidst a swarm of flies, Mrs. Xia interrupted the two. This interruption wasn't directed at them, but rather she asked Yang Yajing, "Finished your drink? Shall we go see if there are any small items we can find?"

Yang Yajing immediately followed up: "What does Sister Tao want to buy?"

"Where did you get that silk thread from last time? Do you have any other colors? Pick a few nice ones and braid a few more for me." With that, Madam Xia took Yang Yajing's arm and excitedly pushed her towards the shop.

When Wang Xiuzhen and Jiang Xuanxuan saw that Madam Xia was really going to buy things from these small shops, they were surprised again.

What exactly does Madam Xia mean? How could she possibly put her feet down in such a crowded place, where everything is cheap and cheap?

Madam Xia and Yang Yajing seemed to be regulars here, and they easily found their way to a small stall selling silk thread.

"Which one looks better?" Madam Xia picked through the silk threads and ropes, her indecisiveness kicking in again.

“These bracelets require at least two millimeters of silk cord. Which color do you like, Sister Tao?” Yang Yajing asked, pointing to the silk cords on the rolls hanging on the wall.

“I like the grass green one, I like the peach one, I like the red one because it’s festive… and the light blue one…” Madam Xia looked left and right, but couldn’t decide.

"Miss, how about two meters of each of these four colors?" Yang Yajing said to the shopkeeper with a smile. "Two meters of the reddish-brown, and ten meters of the bright red one too?"

"Alright!" The young boss chuckled as he pulled the silk ropes one by one, measuring them against the ruler on the table.

"Miss, remember to give me an extra ten centimeters, okay?" Yang Yajing knew that two meters was actually enough, but after the silk rope was cut, the cut surfaces at both ends needed to be processed, so it was common to ask the boss to make an exception.

The shop owner nodded, "Of course, don't worry, little sister, we never skimp on sizes here."
