The day the board meeting is held.
With the pass given to her by Xia Changlong, Yang Yajing drove her Jeep to the parking lot of the Huaxia Consortium early in the morning.
She parked in a spot near the elevator entrance, but instead of getting out of the car, she sat inside, lowering the window by a centimeter, and observed the arriving shareholders.
It's usually easier to discern people's true intentions in informal settings: who gets along well with whom, who doesn't like whom, who's acting like they've already won, and who's just observing and hesitating without any decisiveness...
The shareholders' information is currently lying on Yang Yajing's lap. She observes and listens to each person in the photo for a while.
She didn't stop working either; after observing one, she would put the data in a certain pile.
After all the shareholders had gone upstairs, Xia Changlong arrived.
Upon seeing Yang Yajing's new car, Xia Changlong walked over and knocked on the window.
Yang Yajing opened the car door and handed three stacks of documents to Xia Changlong one by one: "Your people, their people, and the fence-sitters."
"So fast?" Xia Changlong wanted to wait until Yang Yajing went to the venue to observe before asking, but Yang Yajing had already completed her observation task before even going upstairs.
Yang Yajing pointed to one of the documents: "Have someone investigate these three people's dirt and try to weaken their reputation?"
"Okay! I'm going upstairs now." Xia Changlong put the documents in the trunk of his car and went upstairs.
Yang Yajing continued drinking her coffee in the car, calculating the time, and waiting for Xia Changlong to give her a signal.
After the executives finished their routine reports, Xia Changlong began to summarize.
The head office has performed very well due to its investments in emerging industries, with profits reaching a record high. However, the branch offices... have invested in the retail sector, particularly in Jiangjia and domestic milk powder, resulting in working capital liabilities.
Xia Junhu, in particular, was almost insolvent.
"Vice President Xia," Xia Changlong asked Xia Junhu, "did the bank acquire a lot of your shares?"
"Alas! I'm not very capable! The investment has failed, and I can't recover it all at once." Xia Junhu first belittled himself, "But this storm will pass quickly, and I believe the next report won't look so bad."
"Soon?" Xia Changlong smiled smirked. "Jiang Jucai is in jail, and he probably won't be out for at least ten or eight years. I heard that your assistant, Jiang Baocai, was also pushed out to shield you?"
"Second brother, you're joking!" Xia Junhu's lips twitched. "How can you say it's like blocking the wind? He pulled business from his relatives' businesses, concealed it from the report, and caused the company's investment to fail. I've worked hard for the company for many years, how can I tolerate evil and not report it?"
"Sigh! It must have been hard for you, brother, to have raised such a treacherous person for so many years!" Xia Changlong's words had a hidden meaning.
"Alas! I've met the wrong person! I've met the wrong person! I don't know how he could be such a person. I'm ashamed! I'm ashamed!" Xia Junhu still pretended to be an honest man.
"Shouldn't you continue to purge, brother? Such a big decision, Jiang Baocai is just a little assistant, he can't have made such a big deal by himself, right?" Xia Changlong deliberately asked him to take over the military affairs under his control.
Having already lost a top paparazzo, how could Xia Junhu possibly agree to this?
"Sigh! It's my fault for delegating too much authority and trusting him too much!" Xia Junhu said with a pained expression. "This will never happen again!"
"It's good that you think so, brother!" Xia Changlong nodded noncommittally. "If anyone does anything illegal that affects the Huaxia Consortium, then you'll have to retire early."
"Second brother, don't let my disability fool you. I'm still young and can contribute to the conglomerate for a while longer." Xia Jun smiled insincerely. "I can't bear to see you work so hard all by yourself! How can I face your wife if you ruin your health?"
"Sigh! People have to accept getting old... I'm getting old too!" Xia Changlong sighed.
"Alas! It's such a pity that my second brother's daughter died in infancy, leaving him without a son..." Xia Junhu said sadly, "If I, as your elder brother, don't help you and share the burden, this company will have no successor!"
"Died young? How do you know it was a premature death, and not a case of mistaken identity?" Xia Changlong sighed.
"With your abilities, Second Brother, if you had been switched at birth, wouldn't all these years of searching have been fruitless?" Xia Junhu shook his head. "I know, Second Brother, you're just giving your wife a glimmer of hope!"
"Let's not talk about my personal affairs." Xia Changlong changed the subject. "I just want to ask Vice President Xia, you've sold so many shares, how do you plan to buy them back?"
"Vice President Xia? How much of your shares did you mortgage?" Xu Wenbin asked at this moment.
He actually knew how much he had lost, but the shareholders present only knew that he had mortgaged his shares, but they didn't know the specific amount.
Xia Changlong gave Secretary Huang a look, and Secretary Huang opened the document and replied expressionlessly: "Retail losses resulted in a 1% resale, and the milk powder investment was mortgaged at 4.2%, for a total of 5.2%."
When this data was reported, there was a collective sigh of dismay.
Xia Junhu originally owned 8% of the shares, making him the second-largest shareholder alongside Xia Caixia and Xia Tengyun. Now, after this mortgage, he only has 2.8% left, while even Xu Wenbin still owns 3%!
The performance by Xu Wenbin and Xia Changlong was meant to tell everyone that Xia Junhu no longer has any say in the shareholders' meeting.
This was also a tacit message to Xia Tengyun and Xia Caixia: following Xia Junhu's investment proposal would be tantamount to failure.
For people with the surname Xia, any proposal must reach 35% approval before it will be adopted.
Now they themselves have also lost some, now each person only has 5.6%, and the three of them together only have 14%.
Those three of Xia Junhu's men each only accounted for one percent, totaling no more than seventeen percent, less than half.
