Pulling back the curtain, Yang Yajing was still holding the clapperboard, continuing to take notes.
Seeing her like this, the nurse suddenly smiled: "Ms. Xia, you are probably the calmest pregnant woman I have ever seen!"
"Isn't it true that the more nervous you are, the more it hurts and the less you can exert force correctly? I'm just following the instructions step by step! How obedient am I?"
"Sigh! If only all mothers in labor were as obedient as Ms. Xia!" the nurse said with a smile. "This is a private room, so you won't be able to hear the wailing and screaming outside!"
"How exaggerated is it? There's still time to gossip?" Yang Yajing blinked.
"Crying and screaming is one thing, but there are also people who curse, hit, and even bite their husbands' arms, leaving a big bloody tooth mark!"
"They're willing to do that?" Yang Yajing glanced at Zhou Pengfei. "My husband has delicate skin, he can't take a bite!"
"Hahahaha!" the nurse laughed. "When you're in so much pain you're delirious, who cares about anything else?"
"Actually, it's not that bad, is it?" Yang Yajing didn't feel much pain. "After inhaling the pain-relieving gas, it probably won't be that bad!"
"Sigh! That's because you're strong. Some people will cry loudly if they get a small cut on their finger, or scream when they get a shot!"
"It's too embarrassing, I can't do it!" Yang Yajing continued to joke.
"Almost done," the nurse said, glancing at Yang Yajing's notepad as she chatted and took notes. "I've pressed the call button. Inhale the pain relief inhalation. Shall we go to the delivery room?"
"Okay!" Yang Yajing nodded, glanced at the parents in the room, and winked. "I'm going to unload the goods! See you later!"
"Xia Changlong!" Madam Xia roared, "Look what you've done to my precious daughter! She can't even speak properly anymore!"
This is the second time I've heard the word "unloading" today!
Following the doctor's orders, Yang Yajing came out of the delivery room less than two hours later.
"Congratulations to all the grandparents and great-grandparents! Ms. Xia has successfully given birth to a baby boy and a baby girl. Everything is going smoothly." The doctor came out to congratulate her, and two nurses behind her smiled as they held the two little ones.
After glancing at the two babies, Zhou Pengfei left the space to the elders and followed Yang Yajing, who was being wheeled out, back to the ward.
"Aren't you tired? Why are you sweating so much?" Zhou Pengfei brushed Yang Yajing's bangs that were stuck to her forehead.
"It's tiring! More tiring than constipation! Luckily, I don't get constipated easily!" Yang Yajing actually had the mind to joke.
When Zhou Pengfei heard Yang Yajing compare his son and daughter to two poops, he was both amused and exasperated!
Thankfully, Mom and Dad weren't around, otherwise there would have been another round of chatter!
However, the fact that Yang Yajing would joke around means that she is really fine.
"My wound hasn't healed yet! I can't take a shower until the day after tomorrow." Yang Yajing pouted. "It hurts so much!"
"Shall I go and say hello to the elders and tell them to come in later so I can wipe your body?" Zhou Pengfei asked.
"My husband is so good!" Yang Yajing said with a playful smile.
"My wife is the best! You've worked so hard! It's time for your husband to do the work!" Zhou Pengfei smiled sweetly.
Zhou Pengfei told the group outside that Yang Yajing wouldn't be able to take a bath until the day after tomorrow, and that she needed to wipe herself down. The group outside started discussing it again.
Whether or not one should observe postpartum confinement, how one should observe it, and what the scientific approach is.
Sun Huiwen is an old-fashioned person and still feels that she should do some maintenance, otherwise she might suffer for the rest of her life if she doesn't take good care of herself.
Tao Jiaxuan is a modern person and believes that personal hygiene is more important, as is the mother's mood.
As for Sylvia Chang, she seemed to know Yang Yajing best. She told them, "This daughter has a lot of ideas. Why don't we listen to what the doctor has to say and have a scientific postpartum care routine?"
Grandpa and his maternal grandfather loved hearing the word "science," so Xia Changlong went directly to the hospital's postpartum nanny, paid the consultation fee, and asked her for clarification.
Therefore, Yang Yajing was not put in solitary confinement.
However, she must comply with the rules that she must dry her hair after washing it, turn on the heating when taking a shower, change her bed sheets frequently, and refrain from exercising for a week.
Anyway, Zhou Pengfei didn't mind that she still had a belly that looked like she was four months pregnant, and she wasn't that anxious about her figure.
Breastfeeding every hour is tiring enough; who has time to think about exercising and losing weight? I'll just lie down however I feel like!
A group of new fathers and mothers each had a handwritten notebook, meticulously recording everything the postpartum nanny and doctor said.
Yang Yajing didn't care. She just did whatever they told her to do, ate when it was time to eat, and slept when it was time to sleep.
When the weather is nice, she can go for a walk in the garden and enjoy the fresh air; she doesn't have to worry about anything else.
The meals were prepared by servants who varied the dishes, someone would make formula when there wasn't enough breast milk, someone would dry my hair after I washed it, and someone would change the sheets every day.
When the child is awake, if you try to play with her, a bunch of parents will fight over who gets to play with her, so she never gets a chance.
Several days had passed, and they were still calling each other "brother" and "sister." Only then did Yang Yajing realize that they hadn't named them or registered them in the household yet!
Is she, as a mother, being a little too complacent?
"Xia Laoda?" Yang Yajing brought up the matter during dinner, "We haven't named the baby yet, have we?"
"Oh! You finally remembered?" Xia Changlong laughed. "Luckily, you only experienced pregnancy-induced brain fog for three days, not three!"
"I knew Ya Jing wouldn't forget!" Madam Xia smugly declared. "Three days! I won! I won! Everyone, pay up!"
"What are you doing...?" Yang Yajing was speechless.
"They're making a bet! Let's see who can guess how many days it will take you to come up with names for the two little ones," Zhou Pengfei explained.
"Oh, I see! I thought you'd forgotten! Honestly, you're all getting on in years, and you're still gambling on this kind of thing?" Yang Yajing shook her head.
"Have you thought of a name yet?" Xia Changlong asked.
