Chapter 25 If we are prepared for the unexpected, why worry about betting everything on one gamble?

Yang Yajing gave Chen Jiaoyun's question in a way that left Chen Jiaoyun somewhat confused.

She said this: "Some choices are like fresh meat lying in a butcher shop being sold; they are not a two-way street."

The little girl was curious, purely curious; she asked questions whenever she didn't understand, and gossip was her top priority. But Chen Baiyun, who ostensibly read a book but was actually eavesdropping without turning a single page, was listening for wisdom.

"Fresh meat? Who compares themselves to meat?" Chen Jiaoyun found the analogy somewhat speechless.

"Is meat really that delicious?" Yang Yajing didn't think so. "But you can't choose who eats the meat, right?"

"Then you can choose not to sell the meat to her?" This question shows a complete lack of understanding.

"We're not the butchers, we're the meat!" Yang Yajing shrugged helplessly. "Even if we were the owners, we can't be so capricious with customers, right?"

“But you’re not meat, you’re people! You can choose your friends!” Chen Jiaoyun was truly naive and willful. Her ability to say this showed that her family had protected her well, and that she was genuine and uninhibited.

"Have you ever made pancakes?" Yang Yajing suddenly asked.

"I've made them before! What does it have to do with flatbread?"

"You'll see when you grab a handful of batter tomorrow."

"Reach out and grab some batter? You can't possibly grab it, can you?"

"You can't pick it up, but you can't shake it off either, and you can't wipe it clean." Yang Yajing spread her five fingers and mimicked the action of wiping dough on Chen Jiaoyun's shoulder.

"Hey! Yang Yajing! Stop disgusting me!" Chen Jiaoyun pouted.

"Disgusting, isn't it?" Yang Yajing blinked. "You can't get rid of the handsomeness. If you don't have water to wash your hands, you can only wait for it to dry and crack little by little before scraping or rubbing it off!"

"If it's just batter, why did you reach out and grab it?"

"Wrong...we don't mean that, we mean fresh meat." Yang Yajing shook her finger. "Of course, it's because we can eat it and extract oil from it, otherwise why buy meat?"

"What does she want from you?" Chen Jiaoyun was completely puzzled.

In terms of money, Jiang Xuanxuan is very wealthy. In terms of connections, she is also more well-connected than Yang Yajing and Zhou Pengfei.

Do you think they'd be interested in them because they're poor?

Yang Yajing didn't elaborate, only telling Chen Jiaoyun that she was probably right. But Chen Jiaoyun didn't understand—could being "poor" be a reason for being targeted and pursued? Shouldn't it be the opposite?

Yang Yajing simply shook her head without offering any explanation.

After chatting for a while, Chen Jiaoyun realized that she quite liked Yang Yajing. She herself was a straightforward person who said what she thought, and when communicating with Yang Yajing, she didn't feel the need to be careful with her words at all.

She used to prefer chatting with boys rather than girls, because she always seemed to unintentionally offend girls.

After agreeing to bring Zhou Pengfei over on Monday afternoon, Yang Yajing greeted them and then headed home.

As for the parts that Chen Jiaoyun hadn't fully understood, her shrewd grandfather explained them to her in detail.

This made Chen Jiaoyun dislike Jiang Xuanxuan even more, feeling that such a "dummy" was too annoying.

While Yang Yajing was looking for a way out, Jiang Xuanxuan wasn't idle either.

Around the same time that Yang Yajing went to find Chen Jiaoyun, she also went to find her "uncle"—Jia Chun.

Jia Chun opened a large gallery on Fuzhou Road, but it didn't have any works by famous artists; instead, it mainly supplied paintings to merchants.

Many of the decorative paintings in Jiang Xuanxuan's shops were ordered from Jia Chun's gallery. Because they were major clients, Jia Chun was a very subservient person to the Jiang family.

Jiang Xuanxuan said she would introduce him to someone so he could recommend her for the competition and sign a contract, and of course he wouldn't refuse.

I thought he was a person with some achievements, but I never expected that his partner would be an eleven-year-old child.

Upon learning that the child had neither family wealth nor connections, Jia Chun was not entirely satisfied. However, he did not show this dissatisfaction to Jiang Xuanxuan.

"Uncle Jia, this boy is very talented. If you sign him, you can not only receive half of the sales revenue from his competition entries, but also have him produce products for you!"

"Produce products? What can a kid like him produce?"

"You said it yourself, he's just a kid, right? If your overly ambitious but incompetent artists don't want to draw something, why not just let him draw it? We'll still get paid the same, won't we?"

"Pay him a salary? Jiang Qianjin, do you mean we don't need to give him a commission?" Jia Chun felt his wallet bulge again when he heard this.

"It's only a few months, maybe half a year!" Jiang Xuanxuan hooked her arm around Jia Chun's. "To be honest, I quite like this boy. You see, our Jiang family has never mistreated you..."

"You really like this boy? You like him so much that you're scheming against him?" Jia Chun smiled meaningfully.

"Oh dear, if you don't give me face and put his arrogance to a minimum, how can Xuanxuan help him out and make him owe me a favor!" Jiang Xuanxuan twisted her body coquettishly.

"Is Jiang Qianjin trying to make me the bad guy while you play the good guy?" Jia Chun finally understood.

“You wouldn’t believe it, he’s so talented, yet he always hangs out with a poor girl. It’s such a pity…” Jiang Xuanxuan glanced at Jia Chun and added, “Besides, he can’t possibly hate you. You’ve already given him a chance; you’re just letting him face reality!”

Jiang Xuanxuan's so-called "recognizing reality" meant that she wanted Zhou Pengfei to understand that only people with status and money could help him and prevent him from being used as a pawn in the business world.

What's the point of being close to Yang Yajing? Only Jiang Xuanxuan has the ability to give him the right to have face and not be manipulated in the business world.

Jia Chun didn't mind writing the contract in a cryptic and harsh way; he'd done this more than once or twice!
