Xia Changlong's comment about extravagance left Secretary Huang utterly bewildered.
Why would someone order takeout instead of booking a banquet?
The guests at the banquet must be the people on the other end of the phone, right?
Logically speaking, someone whose boss stares at their phone all day and even makes excuses to dawdle during meetings must be a very important person. Why only order takeout?
Is this person a guest or an enemy? This is too stingy! Especially considering Xia Changlong's takeout meal cost fifty yuan, to actually say "extravagant and wasteful" to him, isn't that a bit too much?
But he's the boss, his master. If he tells me to order takeout, then I have no choice but to order takeout! But with so many dishes, which one should I order?
the next day.
“That Chairman Xia…” Secretary Huang stammered.
"explain!"
"Takeout... What are the customer's preferences? What do they like to eat?"
"How would I know?" Xia Changlong rolled his eyes at him. "You've never asked me before."
"Chairman Xia, when I order food for you, it's because I know your tastes, and I'm also ordering for the guests..."
"Okay! Let me ask." With that, Xia Changlong picked up his phone and typed a text message, "What do you like to eat? Fish? Meat?"
Although Secretary Huang had seen Xia Changlong texting many times recently, she still felt a little uncomfortable.
It's rare to see Xia Changlong, such a busy man who usually hangs up after just a sentence or two on the phone, patiently typing a text message that he considers a waste of time, like a frugal working person.
"A balanced diet of meat and vegetables, as long as it's enough to fill you up! And a generous portion?" Yang Yajing replied quickly.
Upon hearing this retelling, Secretary Huang felt a surge of gossip. What kind of client demands "ample portions"?
"Could it be that President Xia has an illegitimate child outside?" he muttered to himself as he walked out of the office.
"Come back!" Xia Changlong shouted.
"Yes, Mr. Xia. Is there anything else you need?" Secretary Huang asked, startled.
"An illegitimate child?" Xia Changlong squinted.
"Ah? No, no... um, um... Mr. Xia, I was wrong!" Secretary Huang realized that he might have imagined things a little too loudly just now, and quickly admitted his mistake.
"Why would you think he's just a little kid?" Xia Changlong didn't pursue the matter further, but continued to ask.
"Ah? It really is a child?" Secretary Huang was so surprised that she forgot her fear.
"answer the questions!"
"Yes." Secretary Huang nodded. "Those who usually like to text are young people, students. And offering free meals... that doesn't seem like a client... So who exactly are you entertaining?"
"Too little work, too bored, and now you have time to gossip?" Xia Changlong squinted at Secretary Huang.
"Busy! Very busy! I'll get right to it!" Secretary Huang replied obsequiously, then turned to run away, afraid that his boss would give him more work.
"return!"
"Yes, sir!" With no way to escape, Secretary Huang had no choice but to disguise himself as a eunuch and act silly to survive.
Xia Changlong also felt that rather than letting Secretary Huang guess and gossip in the secretary's office, it would be better to give him the clear answer.
He trusted Secretary Huang; she had been with him since graduating from university, for over ten years, and had never harbored any disloyalty.
“Xu Wenbin is a distant relative in Jincheng. It’s thanks to her that he didn’t get into the car arranged by Xia Junhu this time,” Xia Changlong said to Secretary Huang. “He’s just a bit mischievous and likes to take advantage of people.”
"Ah? My great benefactor!" Secretary Huang and Xu Wenbin had a very good relationship, and he always called him Uncle Xu in private.
When he first heard on the news that Xu Wenbin had an accident, he cried! Later, when he found out that he was alright, he even went with his mother to burn incense and kowtow to Guanyin, a deity he didn't believe in.
"Just order whatever college students like! Make sure everyone's full!" Xia Changlong said, then waved his hand and sent them on their way.
Knowing that he was Xu Wenbin's relative and had even saved his life, Secretary Huang took it very seriously!
He made a phone call to his niece, who had just started college, to ask her what she usually liked to eat.
Then, two large bags of food were delivered to Xia Changlong's car.
"What is that? It smells so strong?" Xia Changlong frowned.
"Spicy chicken, cumin lamb chops, hand-shredded cabbage, garlic kale..." Secretary Huang ordered these strong-flavored dishes that Xia Changlong would not normally order.
"Alright, alright!" Xia Changlong didn't have time to listen to him list the dishes, and directly told him to put the two bags of food into the trunk before driving away.
He entered the garage, went upstairs, all in one smooth motion. But Yang Yajing hadn't arrived yet. He thought, "Hmph! Late?"
So I sent a text message: "You're late on your first day of work? What about your work attitude?"
"I'm here! I'm downstairs! Your loyal security guard won't let me in!" Yang Yajing replied instantly.
"Wait!" After sending this message, Xia Changlong took the elevator back to the ground floor.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, he saw Yang Yajing sitting on the steps by the door, holding her phone in one hand on her knee and resting her chin on the other, looking utterly bored.
"Isn't it dirty? Why not sit on the sofa instead of begging?" Xia Changlong said from behind Yang Yajing.
"It's an eyesore, so we won't let you sit here," Yang Yajing pointed at the security guard.
"Chairman Xia." The security guard was somewhat apprehensive at this moment.
He initially thought it was just some troublemaking punk who brazenly insisted on going upstairs to find Xia Changlong. In the three years he'd been on duty, he'd never seen anyone other than Xia Changlong and Xu Wenbin come to the apartment, so of course he didn't believe it.
Unexpectedly, this poor little girl with a schoolbag was actually someone Xia Changlong knew.
"I hired you to be the doorman, and this is how you treat my guests?" Xia Changlong squinted at the security guard.
"Xia...Xia..."
"Is it bothering you to sit on the sofa? Is this sofa something I paid for to decorate?"
