Chapter 32: Finding the Sapphire

Lan Yanfeng fell into deep thought. After a while, he asked cautiously, "Xiaoye, did you go to school when you were a child?"

Lan Ziye was completely bewildered. Going to school? Would a private school or one-on-one tutoring count?

"Well... I can read!" Lan Ziye replied with a smile. Not only could she read, she was a prodigy. In less than a month since arriving in this era, she had already mastered every simplified Chinese character in the era, and had no difficulty reading or writing at all!

Lan Yanfeng felt distressed again, thinking: "If Xiaoye had grown up in the Lan family, she would have lived like a princess, pampered by everyone and receiving the best education. She would definitely not be just learning to read now, and still be called an uneducated wild girl!"

Lan Yanfeng decided to talk to his grandfather about letting Xiaoye go to school when he returned this time.

Lan Ziye naturally had no idea what Lan Yanfeng was thinking. She was only focused on the gems in each counter, looking for any missed essence stones and looking to see if there were any gems similar to the blue essence stones on the "Mermaid's Tears" necklace.

Finally, half an hour later, Lan Ziye pointed to a blue loose stone on the counter and said, "Take this out and let me see it!"

The clerk put on gloves enthusiastically, took out the gem very professionally, and introduced it to Lan Ziye: "Miss, you really have a good eye. This is the sapphire that just arrived this morning. What shape do you want it to be processed into? We can help you with it!" He took out a picture album and handed it over, saying, "Any style can be processed. With such a large piece of sapphire, you can make a necklace, a pair of earrings, and even a ring to make it a set, just like this..." Then he began to flip through the picture album.

Lan Ziye, after examining the gem, said calmly, "No need, just wrap it up for me!"

"Huh?" the clerk was confused. They had never seen anyone come to their store to buy jewelry just for a loose stone without any processing.

"I told you to wrap it, so just wrap it up. Why are you standing there?" The store manager saw the clerk's silly look and hurriedly reminded him.

The clerk came to his senses and realized his previous gaffe, and hurriedly responded to pack up the food.

"Xiaobai!" Lan Ziye called out.

The white cat hurried back to Lan Ziye's side, and with a look of disappointment on its face, it whispered, "I've searched everywhere but can't find it!"

Lan Ziye squatted down, picked up the white cat, and stroked its fur, saying, "It's okay! If it were that easy, we would have gone back a long time ago!" He paused and sighed, "We'll find it eventually!"

"What are you looking for?" Lan Yanfeng, who had sharp ears, said immediately after paying the bill, "In addition to the Treasure Pavilion, there are several jewelry stores in Lanxuan City. How about I take you to have a look?"

Lan Ziye smiled and said, "No need, let's go home!"

Seeing that Lan Ziye had only spent a small amount of his money, Lan Yanfeng felt a little disappointed and asked, "Is there really nothing else you need?"

"If there is, I'll look for you next time!" Lan Ziye said perfunctorily with a sweet smile.

Lan Yanfeng was relieved and took Lan Ziye and Xiaobai back to the Lan family.

After exchanging a few pleasantries with Lan Yanfeng, Lan Ziye took Xiaobai back to his room.

Lan Ziye sat at the table and handed the mirror box containing the necklace and the sapphire to the white cat that had already jumped onto the table. He said, "Go find Wu Xuzi and ask him to help me find a good craftsman to set the sapphire into this necklace. Then, you can send the necklace directly to the Jin family. Remember, don't let anyone find out, okay?"
