Chapter 355: A Foreign Land

After picking up Zhao Chuangguang and four others, the car returned to the guesthouse at five o'clock, just in time for dinner.

After dinner, Mr. Cheng took his family to visit relatives. Zhou Xiaozheng took Zhao Chuangguang to meet old brothers to reminisce about the past. Lin Lishan took her daughter's family and Huang Huimin and drove to go shopping.

Rang Xing came hurriedly, but when he saw Ye Lin was nowhere to be seen, he was so angry that he scolded Zhou Jiao several times.

At this moment, Zhou Jiao sneezed twice in the car. Surprised by the arrival of Huang Huimin and the others, she had already forgotten about her appointment tonight.

Zhang Guoqing quickly covered her forehead, and seeing that the temperature was not high, he frowned and said, "Are you cold now?"

Lin Lishan was driving the car, and it was difficult to look back. She asked anxiously, "Do you want to go back first? Catching a cold is no joke. Ping An is still young, and he might get it from you."

"It's okay, my nose just itches. Godmother, I'm really fine. Don't look for medicine. Medicine is three-quarters toxic. I know whether you have a cold or not." When Zhou Jiao saw Huang Huimin taking out the bag, she knew that she wanted her to take medicine, so she quickly stopped her.

"Let's go back first. Let Jiaojiao sleep under the covers. Tomorrow, Godmother will take you shopping."

Zhou Jiao was so anxious that she sought help from Zhang Guoqing and attacked him repeatedly.

Zhang Guoqing was so tickled that he couldn't stop laughing. "Haha... Mom, you keep driving. I'll keep an eye on Jiaojiao. If anything goes wrong, I'll take her back immediately."

"Mom, godmother, where are you going? There's a discount today for 100 yuan. There aren't many people. I don't have a ticket and haven't entered the Friendship Store yet." Zhou Jiao quickly changed the subject.

Huang Huili smiled, turned her head and ignored the young couple.

"Your godmother and I have agreed to go to the Friendship Store first. Last time, we couldn't get in without a ticket. This time, I prepared early just for this day."

Everyone burst into laughter as Lin Lishan finished. This must have been a huge grudge, one that she still couldn't forget for months.

As expected of a metropolis, the variety of goods is much greater than in other places. The same product has different prices in different cities.

Zhou Jiao followed Lin Lishan and the others, examining the merchandise. Sometimes, when she found something she liked, she would whisper to Zhang Guoqing about it. His reminder reminded her that she could just buy the film here this time, rather than paying a higher price if she owed a favor back in Beijing.

She immediately gave him a praiseful look, which made Zhang Guoqing's mouth curl up high.

After Zhou Jiao finished packing her film rolls, baby stroller, toys, wool, and leather shoes, she turned and observed her mother and her mother. She was startled. These two people shopping together were like soulmates.

After settling the bill and moving into the car, Lin Lishan and Huang Huimin were finally satisfied. They agreed to return to the guesthouse to see if there was anything they had missed so they could come back tomorrow to fill in the gaps.

Zhou Jiao broke out in a cold sweat after hearing these words. She decided not to go out with these two shopaholics tomorrow.

Upon returning, she learned that Zhou Xiaozheng would be in the meeting for three more days, a full week including the meeting holiday and weekends. Lin Lishan jumped for joy and immediately pulled Huang Huimin and the other four women to discuss traveling to nearby cities.

Zhou Jiao looked at these immature women in front of her speechlessly, secretly praying that their respective partners would have a fat wallet at home.

Who would have thought that the men on the sidelines actually agreed. They even suggested that the old lady's guard and Zhang Guoqing drive the car, and they would accompany the old lady first to the beach and then to several nearby cities.

The itinerary was decided in just one night.

The next day, before Zhou Xiaozheng left, he gave Zhou Jiao an aunt. She was called a caregiver for the old lady, but who wouldn't know that she was a nanny taking care of the children?

Before getting in the car, Zhou Jiao looked at her father with tears in her eyes. She came here to accompany her father. Why didn't anyone listen to her opinion? Zhou Xiaozheng almost refused to let her get in the car.

In the end, the inseparable father and daughter were separated by everyone.

Y City is renowned throughout China. Standing on the beach, the sky is blue, the water is blue, and the air you breathe smells of the sea, salty too. It truly lives up to its reputation as an ancient maritime city.

The seafood noodles, stir-fried assorted dishes, salt-grilled shrimp, steamed dried fish, various snails, hairtail with fermented rice, and fresh yellow croaker and pomfret were all so delicious that we stayed an extra day.

Zhou Jiao regretfully broke her vow. Two days prior, Zhou Xiaozheng had declared the crisis over, and she'd once again resolved not to move. But faced with so many delicious foods and the clamor of the morning market stalls, she was tempted to try. Finally, on her last day, she left with a bountiful harvest.

Traveling through three cities, I witnessed the scenery of Jiangnan in May, experienced the local customs, tasted various local snacks, and spent time wandering in various shopping malls. The fatigue of the journey did not stop me.

Five days later, after Xiao Ping'an learned to utter the vague monosyllabic word "good", the group finally set off on their return journey in two cars, carrying a lot of harvest.

In the guesthouse, the men who had been busy and exhausted finally got rid of the fatigue of work and welcomed their smiling relatives and two cars full of gifts.

Zhou Xiaozheng pulled his daughter over, looked her up and down, and said with a smile, "Not bad. Have a good rest tonight, and Dad will take you out to play tomorrow."

Zhao Chuangguang rolled his eyes at the words beside him. What a clingy guy! His wife Huang Huimin played a sneaky trick on him—pinching him a few times on the waist and smiling at her ingratiatingly.

Huang Huimin smiled and glanced at him. She thought to herself: Compared to her brother Zheng, her own man isn't much better. He was the first one to touch Jiaojiao's head.

Cheng Sijin looked at his wife calmly for a few times, and seeing that she was smiling, he smiled at her and motioned her to sit down and rest. Then he looked at the crowd and found that after a few days of playing, these female comrades were all in high spirits, except Zhang Guoqing who looked tired.

He walked over to Zhang Guoqing and whispered, "Hurry up and eat a bowl of noodles and go to bed immediately."

Zhang Guoqing shook his head and smiled, "I'm not sleepy now, just need to rest for a while. Does your cousin know about the next itinerary?"

Cheng Sijin chuckled to himself when he heard this. It seemed like the kid was too scared to play. He smiled, "Your dad plans to take his precious little girl out for a day, and he's also planning to take her to Peidao to work. What do you think? Is a month's vacation enough for you?"

Zhang Guoqing quickly glanced at Zhou Jiao and her father, and said with a wry smile, "I said a month, but it's probably only half a month at most. The performance needs to be comprehensive, so I plan to stay there for a week before returning to work. Including the round trip time, it really won't be long."

Cheng Sijin patted his shoulder in understanding. "Working is not your own thing, and you have to be mindful of your words and actions to avoid any negative influence." He agreed with the kid's idea; it was great that he could think of this at such a young age.

Zhang Guoqing didn't say anything further on the subject. Everything depended on Zhou Jiao. He suspected his wife, fearing the involvement of others, wouldn't go to Xiadu anytime soon. If she didn't want to, no one could pull her away.

Before returning, Zhou Xiaozheng took his family on a day of sightseeing. Dresses, leather shoes, red envelopes, an amusement park, Western food—in Zhou Jiao's eighteenth year, he made up for the regret that had separated them from each other ten years before.

Zhou Jiao followed her father's instructions throughout the day. Even though the gifts she received might not be seen by others in the near future, she was still overjoyed. Even though the amusement park was no longer suitable for her age, she was still very happy.

Father's love is like a mountain, but the father's love Zhou Xiaozheng gave her is also like a mountain and also like water. Like a mountain, it is deep and broad; like the sea, it is deep and generous.

She wants to have a father and a lover in her lifetime. She should be satisfied and learn to be grateful and give back.
