Chapter 701 Before Departure

Zhou Jiao saw the man off and walked back with ease. It was a great blessing in life for lovers to finally get married, and this could be considered a good deed.

Qiao Na looked at Zhou Jiao who was coming towards her and sprinted forward. "What are you so happy about? Come with me to the next school to watch the fun."

Hearing this, Zhou Jiao quickly retracted her hand, "What little stars in the sky are blinking like this, reflecting my longing for you?"

She chuckled softly, and Qiao Na rolled her eyes at her. "How could I not know you? This will be a commentary on current affairs. Several students from different schools are giving speeches over in the grove. I heard they're all top students in literature. What do you think? Is this worth your trip?"

Zhou Jiao glanced at him with a headache. She would rather listen to those harmless hymns than current affairs speeches. At least besides missing him, they would also cleverly praise the authorities.

"Hurry up, don't dawdle, many people have already gone."

Zhou Jiao quickly grabbed her hand and said, "Class is about to start, and we'll be leaving in a few days. If we don't do these lab questions now, when will we?"

Qiao Na stretched her neck anxiously to look outside and said hurriedly, "Those are not urgent. We can't leave any later."

As soon as Zhou Jiao heard this, she knew that he was planning to skip class in the afternoon, which was even more of a reason.

She gently advised, "They'll definitely discuss it when they get back, so there's no need to go. Let's finish our studies first and then sit in on the class next time we have the chance."

Qiao Na rolled her eyes, "Okay! Then I'm going to the bathroom first."

Zhou Jiao smiled and nodded, without trying to persuade her any further. If it rains, it will rain, and if it wants to marry, it's all her own doing. She's not their parents, so how can she be so lenient?

On the way back to the dormitory, Zhou Jiao actually saw some people walking off campus. She smiled sarcastically. They were so ignorant. Even her cousin knew that students should just study and stop talking nonsense.

When she reached the end, she found Zhang Guoqing waving at her. Zhou Jiao didn't mention this matter, but with such a kind heart, she might have gone over to stop him.

"People are gone? What do you mean?"

Zhou Jiao smiled slightly and nodded slightly, "It seems that she can't let go of Linzi. She said she wants to go to Hai City."

"That's great! Then I'll tell Linzi not to leave school for a while."

"You've forgotten who that girl is. She has plenty of ways to find the forest. Let nature take its course."

Zhang Guoqing knew she didn't like to be involved too much, so he immediately repeated what Yi Jiefang had said. Of course, he also had to express his own concerns.

Zhou Jiao nodded after hearing this. "Alright, give me some pointers, don't give me blind advice, let Linzi figure it out on his own. If it's not hard-earned, how can we cherish it?"

"That makes sense. So let's go upstairs and write the letter first?"

Zhou Jiao was eager for this, "I'm just taking a break. When class starts, you can call me."

Thinking of his recent nights of revelry, Zhang Guoqing touched his nose guiltily. He looked at his wife's face and saw that she was fine except for being a little sleepy. He immediately and attentively led the way.

Inside the room, Zhang Guoqing poured hot water for her to wash her face and feet, and urged her to go to bed. He watched her lie there quietly with her eyes closed before he went to the desk to write a letter.

The sound of footsteps in the corridor outside and the noise downstairs all came together, making it difficult for Zhou Jiao to fall asleep. Especially before she could lie down for a while, she heard Yi Jiefang shouting downstairs.

She opened her eyes and looked at Zhang Guoqing, who was gesturing out the window, and laughed happily, "You go down first and send the letter. When class starts, I'll go straight to the classroom."

Zhang Guoqing hesitated for a moment, then yelled to his friends downstairs, "Wait!" This voice could probably be heard even at the school gate.

"Then lie down for a while. If you fall asleep, don't go to class. I'll ask for leave for you then. If you're bored, eat some fruit or read some books."

Zhou Jiao waved him out. If he kept nagging, he would probably have to go to class.

As soon as Zhang Guoqing left, she heard the noise outside and was too lazy to lie down anymore. She got up and sat at the desk, took out a plate of grapes, ate while looking out the window, and found that the two brothers were walking towards the small post office arm in arm, so she smiled with relief.

This time there is no time to give him a chance to leave school!

Zhou Jiao happily plucked a small grape from a bunch and popped it into her mouth. While the small, dark purple grapes weren't as satisfying to eat as the larger ones, they were incredibly sweet and refreshing.

The leisurely time passed quickly. In a blink of an eye, a few days had passed and it was time for Zhou Jiao to leave.

The day before, she went home specially to have a detailed talk with her son.

Ping An blinked his eyes after hearing this and said, "Dad doesn't need to accompany you. He's still in Beijing, right?"

"Well, starting tomorrow he doesn't have to go to school. He'll come home as soon as he's free. It won't take long for Mom to get there either. I'll call you when I'm free."

"Mom, you're fooling me again. It's very troublesome to make phone calls outside. I have to go to kindergarten during the day, and you can't find the post office at night."

Zhou Jiao glanced at him speechlessly. It was true that she couldn't guarantee that she could call him anytime, but could she not expose him?

Ping An chuckled when he saw this, "Mom, you can send me a telegram, but no one sends me one specifically."

Nonsense! You're just a little brat! Who's going to spend money on fun?

Of course, Zhou Jiao would not say these words to hurt the child.

She smiled and said, "Okay! I'll call you when I get a chance. If I don't, I'll send you a telegram. Forget about writing a letter. I'll be back before the letter arrives."

"Ah? I was thinking of writing you a letter."

Zhou Jiao couldn't bear to see her son's sad face, so she offered a suggestion: "You can write it and wait for me to read it when I get back. Isn't it just like Mom received your letter? And you can save the postage."

Ping An watched her open the two wooden boxes in her room and pouted. How could it be the same?

A wooden box was filled with fermented rice cakes, ox tongues and other pastries, followed by canned meat and various canned fruits. Later, Zhou Jiao added various instant meat strips out of concern.

She put pears, apples, and oranges in the last wooden box. These would lose moisture in a month at most, and her son would need fresh fruit when he returned from the south.

"Mom, please put less. I can't finish it."

"That's only a little bit, baby. Don't be reluctant to eat it. Mom will bring some more back from the south this time. If you want to eat dumplings or something, ask Grandma Chen to make them for you."

Ping An nodded obediently, but in his heart he thought that he couldn't do what his mother said. His mother had worked very hard to accumulate these things.

Why did Uncle Xiaoyu, like his fellow children in the compound, always look forward to getting sick? Normally, many children rarely had access to canned fruit; their families would only buy it for them when they were sick.

His great aunt is not short of money, and she would not buy canned fruits to put at home.

Uncle Xiaoyu said that only when he had a cold, fever and no appetite would my aunt generously buy the most expensive canned peaches and let the three uncles share them.

"Mom, you don't have to bring anything home, just come back early."

Zhou Jiao picked up her son and gave him a big kiss. How sweet! Who says daughters are sweet and caring? Her son is no different.
