Chapter 779 As if nothing happened

In the study, Jiang Jiangyu regained his composure, looked around the room, and nodded with satisfaction.

Seeing this, Lin Dingsheng smiled and said, "Mom, do you think it's a good idea? You can stay here for a few more days this time. My dad can eat in the cafeteria anyway. I'll take a few days off and accompany you to visit my younger brother."

"Forget it. Mom is used to living over there. It's more comfortable there." Jiang Jiangyu was dismissed from the military region here. How could he stay here and be instructed?

She was worried that her son would bring up the same old topic again, so she quickly changed the subject: "Let's talk business first. This afternoon, a dirty old woman came to our house..."

Lin Dingsheng peeled an apple with a fruit knife while listening to his mother's detailed description. The apple in his hand broke several times as he peeled it, following her thoughts.

"That's the situation. Do you think I should go find that damn girl privately?"

Lin Dingsheng handed the apple to her mother and said, "You eat it first. I need to think about this carefully."

"What are you thinking? This is a rare opportunity. That person said that if you help her bring down the Zhou family, you and your son will be transferred back to the capital."

Lin Dingsheng wasn't as simple-minded as his mother. What good would it do him to bring down the Zhou family? Even if his aunt wasn't close to him, he still had his grandfather.

Even though the Lin and Zhou families had a feud, his uncle didn't take action after the old lady left. He trusted the character of the Zhou family members, but not outsiders?

Lin Dingsheng narrowed his eyes.

"Mom, let's not get involved with Xiaolin. How she wants to deal with the Zhou family is her business. We don't need to be a knife in her hand."

Jiang Jiangyu said hesitantly: "That, that can be used as evidence."

Lin Dingsheng laughed sarcastically, "Is there anyone in this world more foolish than this girl? What's wrong with my aunt leaving a dowry for her daughter? She legitimately spent the money from her salary. Don't even mention whether the money is there? Even if it is, it can't be used as evidence."

Jiang Jiangyu held the apple tightly and looked at her son quietly.

"Mom, have you ever thought about this? She donated all the gold that the old lady gave to Zhou Jiao, causing a big uproar. Would she keep these things? If she had, she would have moved them away long ago. Don't listen to that damn girl's nonsense. She probably thought you liked money and deliberately seduced you."

After hearing what his son said, even Jiang Jiangyu, no matter how thick-skinned he was, couldn't help but blush. It was because he loved money that he rushed over.

Lin Dingsheng comforted her, "What's so shameful about liking money? Since ancient times, birds have died for food, and people have died for money. This is a very normal thing. Mom, the past is the past, don't take it too seriously. The most important thing is that we live a good life in the future."

"Yeah. Mom will listen to you."

"Just pretend you don't know about this, and don't mention Auntie. Isn't my uncle very powerful? Why would our family worry about their own daughter?"

Jiang Jiangyu didn't quite understand her son's thoughts. But she was very good at one thing: she listened to him.

"Did that woman contact you again last time?"

Jiang Jiangyu shook his head.

"We are in the dark and have no idea about the current situation in the capital, so I asked you to discuss it with my grandfather. What if..."

Jiang Jiangyu looked at his son without blinking.

"If my uncle is still very popular with that person, then we shouldn't get involved. Just wait and see how my grandfather responds. He will always work in a way that benefits our family."

Jiang Jiangyu shook his head in disapproval. "I'm still worried about your grandfather. He's too, too upright. I wanted to discuss this with your grandfather, but he ignored me. And I don't want to involve the three of you in this matter openly."

Hearing this, Lin Dingsheng leaned over to his mother's ear with a smile and said, "Do you think my grandfather won't discuss this with my grandfather? Mom, don't worry. These two old men are more suitable than anyone else for this matter. As for you, as I said before, just act as if nothing happened and say you're not interested if anyone approaches you."

Seeing his son telling him to pretend nothing happened, Jiang Jiangyu knew that if he really wanted to plan something, his brain would not be enough.

She nodded decisively: "Okay, Mom will listen to you."

After finishing his business, Lin Dingsheng checked the time. It was almost time for dinner. He stood up and said with a smile, "Mom, you take a break first. I'll go to the cafeteria to get some food."

Seeing his son about to leave, Jiang Jiangyu quickly instructed, "I brought a lot of vegetables. Just get two servings of your favorite meat dishes."

Lin Dingsheng responded with a smile, "Okay."

After leaving the house, he sighed secretly. His mother started to save money these days, and he didn't know whether it was a good thing or a bad thing.

Back in Beijing, Elder Jiang came out of the retirement home. The more he thought about it, the more he couldn't listen to his in-laws' advice. If the matter was exposed, his daughter's family would be in trouble in the short term.

But what about the future?

Old Man Lin and I are old. When we are no longer around, those people will hold a grudge and try to make things difficult for the children. Who can predict what the consequences will be?

And there was always a lingering concern in his heart. This old friend was indeed smarter than he was, but ultimately, his character was still lacking.

This idea, exposed openly, seemed to avert the crisis that had befallen his daughter's family. However, it seemed to be a gloating idea, and it might even lead to a quarrel between the two families.

It turns out that he is not my biological child, so no matter how nice I say it, it is useless.

The small yard in front of the Jiang family's door was full of vegetables, fruits, and there was a small path just wide enough for one person to pass through. Old Jiang walked on it absent-mindedly and accidentally stepped on a vegetable on the side.

Mrs. Jiang came out of the kitchen and saw this scene. She ran over immediately with heartache: "I'm back. I'm waiting for you to eat. Go wash your face first. I'll be right there."

Mr. Jiang nodded casually and kept walking forward.

Behind her, Old Mrs. Jiang didn't bother to look at her husband. She squatted down to pick up the small green vegetables that were stepped on and broken, sorted out a few of the ones next to them, stood up and followed him into the inner room.

The old lady asked as she washed her hands, "What's bothering you so much? What does the boss want you to do? Could it be his brother-in-law or sister-in-law?"

It's no wonder she thought so. At noon, when the eldest brother came on his bike, Mr. Jiang went out absent-mindedly, and he was still distracted when he came back.

Jiang Lao was interrupted by his wife and smiled and shook his head: "It's none of the boss's business. Don't wash it, let's eat first."

Seeing that he was fine, Mrs. Jiang didn't ask any more questions. She smiled and picked up two red eggs from the pot and brought them to the table: "Sticky and happy."

Mr. Jiang chuckled and cracked an egg. Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind: "Is this a wedding egg?"

"Of course, it's a return gift for Xiaowu's twins' one-month anniversary. Two pairs of red eggs. The remaining two are for you to eat tomorrow morning."

Elder Jiang frowned. "There's no fool in his family, so why is this so abnormal? There are so many people in this compound, how many eggs does a family of four need?"

Old Mrs. Jiang peeled the eggs and looked up at him with a blank look: "Do you think his family bought them?"

Mr. Jiang stopped and looked at his wife thoughtfully.

"Don't overthink it. During the month the Zhou family's girl was in confinement, everyone sent her a few eggs, and they received two boxes. I felt it was not good for the Zhou family to accept them, nor was it good not to accept them, so they simply cooked them and returned them to everyone after the full month. Who doesn't rely on that little supply these days? They are very particular about what they do."
