Chapter 44 Huang Juan Beats Her Daughter

After a simple and cozy dinner, Song Yaohui insisted on washing the dishes.

After washing the dishes, the two brothers sat on the kang (a heated brick bed) by the light of a kerosene lamp to do their homework.

Fang Jie put two scallion pancakes in a bowl, lit a torch, and prepared to take them to her mother-in-law.

Song Fanxing put her little hand into hers.

"Mom, I'll go with you."

Fang Jie thought it would be good to have her daughter with her, so she took her out.

As soon as they entered the Song family's courtyard, they saw Huang Juan chasing and hitting Song Dani with a broom.

"You brat, you stop right there! I'll beat you to death today!"

Song Dani ran fast, and Huang Juan caught up with her quickly, pinning her to the ground and beating her severely.

Song Dani cried out, "Stop hitting me! I know I was wrong, Mom, please stop!"

Huang Juan, her eyes bloodshot, ignored her cries and continued to lash out at her.

"You brat! You're always running around, neglecting to feed the pigs or cook. All you do is run around! I'll beat you to death, you good-for-nothing!"

Song Fanxing frowned and watched this scene with discomfort.

Not all parents deserve to be called parents; some are simply beasts. Such mothers are worse off without.

She was glad that she hadn't ended up wearing the clothes of Song Dani and Song Erni.

That's terrible!

She glanced into Song Dapeng's room; Song Dapeng was fast asleep on the kang (a heated brick bed), pretending not to hear the crying outside.

These parents are inhuman!

After dealing with Song Dani, Huang Juan walked towards Song Erni, who was hiding in a corner trembling with fear.

When Song Erni saw her, she screamed in fright and knelt on the ground, crying, "Mom, Mom, I know I was wrong, please don't hit me, I'll never do it again."

But Huang Juan showed no mercy, grabbed her and gave her a good beating, so painful that Song Erni couldn't cry, her face covered in tears and snot.

One of Song Dalong's family members stood at the door with a rice bowl in his hand, watching the commotion.

Fang Jie couldn't stand it anymore and spoke up to stop her, "Huang Juan, that's enough. You'll feel bad if something serious happens to you."

Song Fanxing thought to herself: Mom, you're wrong, she won't feel sorry for me.

As expected, Huang Juan listened to her mother and hit even harder.

Fang Jie didn't dare to interrupt anymore and led her daughter into her mother-in-law's room.

When Old Lady Song saw Fang Jie, she wanted to glare at her fiercely. She thought, "You're so late. Do you want to starve me to death?"

But when she received her granddaughter's wistful gaze and remembered her warning from that afternoon, she didn't dare.

Fang Jie picked up a scallion and egg pancake, tore it into pieces, and fed it to her mother-in-law.

Grandma Song ate with a satisfied expression.

My eldest daughter-in-law's cooking skills have improved so much! These scallion pancakes are so soft and delicious. She also really enjoyed the other two meals we had today.

After eating the food prepared by her eldest daughter-in-law, she felt completely comfortable; in short, she felt relaxed and at ease.

In the courtyard, Huang Juan, perhaps tired from beating, stopped and yelled at her two daughters to cook.

After serving her mother-in-law her meal, Fang Jie asked Song Fanxing to leave. She changed her mother-in-law's diaper, placing a thin sheet of paper underneath to prevent the soiling from getting on her pants. She then changed her into a clean diaper and took the soiled one to wash.

Song Fanxing watched from afar, feeling utterly disgusted, wondering how her mother could stand it.

One has to admire her mother; she is truly a good daughter-in-law, a good daughter-in-law, and of course, a good mother. She is traditional, filial, and capable.

The Song family is incredibly lucky to have married her.

Her grandmother, however, did not appreciate or treat her well.

Seeing her mother suffer like this, she wondered if she should try to cure her grandmother's leg.

Once she's cured, her mother won't have to take care of her or do such disgusting things.

But once she recovers from breastfeeding, she might still bully her mother and their family.

Fang Jie hung the diapers on the hemp rope in the yard, washed her hands three times, and then took her daughter home.

On the way back, Song Fanxing couldn't help but ask, "Mom, aren't you disgusted?"

Fang Jie knew what she meant and said, "Disgusting, but she is still your grandmother, your father's mother. Since your father is not here, I have to take good care of his mother for him."

"What if the milk wasn't from Daddy's mother?"

Fang Jie laughed, "There's nothing we can do, your father was born into the Song family."

Song Fanxing knew her mother wouldn't believe her. Her grandmother was paralyzed and couldn't speak, and she had no evidence to prove that her father wasn't her grandmother's biological son.

Song Fanxing didn't continue the topic, but instead asked, "Mom, do you want your milk to get better?"

Fang Jie didn't hesitate, "Yes, I want her to get better. Your father is far away in the army, so he doesn't have to worry. Our lives will be easier then."

"What if she still bullies you after your milk comes back? She'll still try to squeeze money out of your father's hard-earned money."

Fang Jie knew her mother-in-law was capable of such a thing.

"Don't worry, I've taken care of her for so long, so I've repaid her with kindness. If she does that again, I will fight back and won't let her bully me."

Upon receiving her reply, Song Fanxing smiled broadly, her eyes crinkling, looking especially beautiful in the dim firelight.

"Mom, don't worry, I won't let her bully you. If she dares to bully you, I'll teach her a lesson."

Fang Jie couldn't help but chuckle, "You're such a little devil, but I doubt your grandma's illness will get better."

She had seen no one who recovered from a stroke; some were paralyzed for years, and under the torment of both body and mind, they slowly passed away.

Song Fanxing remained silent.

It's all up to human effort; she has the Spirit Spring Space at her disposal.

She felt a pang of sympathy for someone as kind-hearted as her grandmother who got off so easily.

Back home, Fang Jie sat under the kerosene lamp, sewing a dress stitch by stitch.

Song Fanxing lay down next to her two older brothers, closed her eyes, and entered the spiritual spring space to farm.

Fang Min and Ye Fangxuan arrived at the Ye family's gate, which was wide open.
