He secretly glanced at Ah Hu's expression and, seeing that the other man's brows were slightly furrowed, immediately raised his voice.
"Tiger, to be honest, I'm doing this on orders from above! I'm here to crack down on these speculators who harm the people! To restore order to the market and let ordinary people eat affordable vegetables!"
First, flatter Xu Kuo and tie A Hu to the chariot of eliminating evil for the people. I don't believe A Hu won't fall for it.
Sure enough, Ah Hu's cold and stern face instantly filled with anger.
He came from a poor background and hated these unscrupulous merchants who profited from national crises and oppressed the people the most!
"Damn it! There are bastards like this?!"
Ah Hu let out a low growl, clenching his fist, which was as big as a bowl, so tightly that his knuckles cracked.
"They've dared to bully ordinary people? They're fucking asking for death!"
A fierce glint flashed in his eyes as he looked at Wang Ming. "Lead the way! I want to see which blind fool dares to be so ruthless!"
Wang Ming was secretly delighted, but on his face he put on a righteous and awe-inspiring look: "Good! Tiger is a righteous man! Xiao Wu, lead the way to the vegetable market in the next town!"
"Yes, Ming-ge! Tiger, this way please!"
Xiao Wu hurriedly nodded and bowed, leading Wang Ming, A Hu, and a few slovenly thugs behind him, heading menacingly towards the vegetable market in the neighboring town.
Wang Chengxiang followed behind, his eyes filled with resentment, wishing he could see Xu Kuo's hands and feet broken immediately.
...
Meanwhile, in the neighboring town's market, the atmosphere was bustling with activity and full of life.
A large crowd gathered in front of Xu Kuo's newly opened vegetable stall.
On the stall, the lush green vegetables, crisp radishes, and plump tomatoes stood out vividly in this era of relative scarcity. Several young men whom Xu Kuo had hired to help were deftly weighing and collecting money, their faces beaming with simple, honest smiles.
"Secretary Wen, look how fresh these cucumbers are!" a young helper greeted him warmly.
At the stall, a woman with a gentle demeanor but a touch of heroism in her brows was carefully selecting vegetables.
She was dressed in simple casual clothes; she was Secretary Wen of the town's Party Committee.
Wenwen, standing nearby, looked at the fresh vegetables with curiosity, occasionally letting out small exclamations of surprise.
"Hmm, it's not bad." Secretary Wen nodded, picked up a cucumber, looked at it, and a satisfied smile appeared on his face.
"Xiao Xu's stall has really made our town much more convenient, and the vegetables are fresh too."
Xu Kuo was indeed a young man with ideas and drive.
I just don't know how he managed to grow such high-quality vegetables in his field...
In the midst of this peaceful and lively atmosphere, a sudden change occurred!
"Get the hell out of my way!"
A harsh shout rang out, followed by several thugs who swarmed over like crabs, shoving and jostling the locals who were buying vegetables!
Ouch!
"Why are you pushing?"
"What are you doing?!"
A commotion broke out in the crowd, and the people who had been pushed and shoved glared angrily.
Secretary Wen frowned, pulled his daughter behind him, and looked at the group of menacing people, a hint of doubt and vigilance flashing in his eyes.
What do these people do? They don't look like nice guys.
The young men helping at Xu Kuo's stall also stopped what they were doing, looking at the group of uninvited guests with puzzlement and anger.
"Hey! Who are you people? What do you want?!" A bolder young helper stepped forward, blocking the stall, and questioned him sharply.
The crowd parted, and Wang Ming, with a gloomy face, walked out surrounded by a group of thugs. Behind him followed Wang Chengxiang, whose face was pale but whose eyes were filled with resentment, and the imposing, burly man, Ah Hu.
Wang Ming spotted Secretary Wen at the stall immediately, a sinister glint in his eyes. But his gaze quickly shifted to the fresh vegetables and the busy helpers. He snorted and pointed at the stall, cursing loudly.
"What are you doing? We've surrounded your unscrupulous stall! Ripping off the people in broad daylight, you're leeching them off! Is there no law left?!"
The young men working there were furious: "What nonsense are you spouting?! Our vegetable prices are the fairest in town!"
"Exactly! Why do you call us a heartless operation?!"
Seeing this, Secretary Wen quickly stepped forward, trying to mediate: "Comrade, let's talk this out. Is there some misunderstanding? It's Xiao Xu's food..."
"Misunderstanding my foot!" Before she could finish speaking, Wang Ming suddenly swung his hand and roughly shoved Secretary Wen!
Secretary Wen stumbled, but fortunately steadied himself in time to avoid falling.
Her face instantly filled with anger: "How could you, comrade, hit someone like that?!"
"So what if I hit you?!" Wang Ming was like a madman at this moment, no longer showing any of his former cadre demeanor. He pointed at Secretary Wen's nose and cursed.
"Stop meddling in other people's business! You're the Secretary Wen who's backing up this shady vendor, aren't you? Let me tell you, this isn't over! Men! Surround this stall! Don't let anyone buy anything! Let's see who dares to buy these shoddy vegetables!"
Having finally found a chance to vent, Wang Ming naturally wanted to carefully examine his emotions.
When the surrounding people saw Wang Ming being so arrogant and domineering, even daring to push and shove Secretary Wen, they were immediately outraged!
"That's outrageous! Why can't we buy groceries?!"
"Exactly! Their food is good and the price is fair, what's it to you?!"
"I think you're the one here to cause trouble! Get out!"
"Yes! Drive them away!"
The people were filled with righteous indignation and gathered around, seemingly determined to drive Wang Ming and his men away.
Seeing this, Wang Ming's face flashed with a hint of panic, but he immediately looked at Ah Hu beside him and regained his confidence.
He sneered and winked at Ah Hu: "Master Hu, it seems these unruly people won't learn their lesson until they see the coffin! Please, give them a heads-up!"
Ah Hu frowned, glanced at the angry crowd, then at the innocent-looking young helper, and hesitated.
He came here to help the people, but now he is being cursed and ostracized by them. What should he do?
Wang Ming noticed Ah Hu's hesitation and immediately leaned close to his ear, whispering a seductive message.
"Tiger, don't hesitate! Think about it, if we intimidate them, they won't be fooled by these shoddy vegetables! When we bring the price down, they'll thank you! That's truly putting the people first!"
Ah Hu's eyes flickered; Wang Ming's words seemed to make some sense.
He took a deep breath, took a sudden step forward, his eyes widened, and with a powerful roar, he shouted, "All of you—shut up!!!"
This roar contained astonishing power, instantly overwhelming all the noise!
The entire market seemed to freeze in place from that roar!
