Upon hearing this, the man immediately perked up. He rubbed his hands together, grinning maliciously, and assured him, "Don't worry, Secretary Shi, I've got this under control! I guarantee they'll be begging for their lives and regret coming here!"
Shi Jixing nodded in satisfaction, thinking to himself that he would definitely teach that arrogant person a lesson tomorrow!
The next day, just as dawn was breaking, Xu Kuo brought Niu Erbao to the entrance of the vegetable market.
But just as they set up their stall, they noticed a group of people approaching from not far away.
Shi Jixing stood there with a group of men, looking menacing and clearly up to no good.
"Xu Kuo, you really have guts!" Shi Jixing was furious when he saw Xu Kuo. "I just chased you away, and today you're back selling fish at the door. You're shameless!"
Xu Kuo sneered and retorted, "Secretary Shi, this road isn't yours to own. What business is it of yours if I set up a fish stall here?"
"What business is it of mine? How dare you ask!" Shi Jixing laughed angrily. "Your setting up a stall here is breaking the rules of the market! Let me tell you, I am the rule of this market!"
"In my territory, if you're a dragon, you have to coil up; if you're a tiger, you have to lie down! If you don't know what's good for you today, don't blame me for being impolite!" Shi Jixing threatened, and the men behind him joined in the shouting.
The man cursed even more recklessly: "Xu Kuo, you bastard! If it weren't for you, would I have been unable to sell a single fish yesterday? You better pay me back and get lost, or I'll break your legs!"
Xu Kuo completely ignored their clamor, merely glancing at them indifferently before calling out to Niu Erbao, "Erbao, don't just stand there, set up your stall!"
The man was furious that Xu Kuo dared to ignore him. He roared, "Brothers, charge! Beat this idiot to death!"
Several henchmen immediately lunged at Xu Kuo with sinister grins.
The surrounding customers shook their heads and sighed at the sight. Although they were unhappy that the vegetables in the market were not fresh, they dared not offend Shi Jixing and his gang of thugs.
"This young man is too impulsive!"
"Yeah, of all people to mess with, they had to pick on these guys. Now they're in big trouble!"
"What a pity, such good fish, I'm afraid we won't be able to eat it again in the future..."
The crowd discussed the matter animatedly, all feeling worried for Xu Kuo. They sympathized with his plight but were powerless to help him.
In the blink of an eye, several henchmen rushed in front of Xu Kuo, waving their fists and attacking him.
However, to everyone's surprise, Xu Kuo did not dodge or avoid, but instead took the initiative to meet him!
In a flash, he moved with lightning speed and swiftness, knocking all his henchmen to the ground!
"Ouch!"
"It hurts so much!"
"This kid... knows kung fu!"
...
Several henchmen lay on the ground, howling in pain, their faces bruised and swollen, looking utterly pathetic.
This scene stunned everyone! They never expected that Xu Kuo, who seemed so frail, would be such a formidable fighter!
The man and Shi Jixing were so frightened that their faces turned pale and their bodies trembled. They never dreamed that Xu Kuo was actually a martial arts expert!
Xu Kuo clapped his hands, walked up to the man and Shi Jixing, and smiled coldly: "What? Still want to fight? You guys attacked first, so if I fight back, it wouldn't be considered bullying, would it?"
"Shi Jixing, if you beg me now, maybe I'll be in a good mood and consider going back to the market," Xu Kuo added, his tone full of mockery.
Shi Jixing's face turned ashen, his heart filled with shock and anger. He never imagined that he would be defeated by a mere fishmonger!
"Hmph, don't be so smug!" Shi Jixing roared, his voice trembling with fear, "I don't believe customers will keep buying your fish! Once they get tired of it, let's see how arrogant you can be!"
The man chimed in, yelling, "That's right! Don't think you're so great just because you can fight. If you're so tough, why don't you quit selling fish! Let's see how long you can last!"
After saying that, the man slunk away behind Shi Jixing, as if fleeing.
Xu Kuo watched their disheveled figures as a cold smile curled at the corner of his mouth.
I upgraded the system to save Niu Erbao, and now I have 200 points left. The system happens to have genetically modified vegetable seeds and super fertilizer, which can grow crops within one or two months, so there is no worry about not being able to sell them.
Back in the village, the two began to settle their belongings.
"Everything is settled!" Xu Kuo put the fish basket down in the corner and patted the dirt off his hands.
Niu Erbao followed him into the courtyard, his eyes filled with admiration: "Master, you're amazing."
The two crossed the courtyard and headed straight for the farmland behind the village. This land had been lent by Xu Kuo to the village head; the autumn harvest had just been completed, and the field was still covered with straw, leaving it empty.
Xu Kuo redeemed 100 points worth of vegetable seeds from the system and shoved them into Niu Erbao's hand: "Take these, get ready to plant vegetables."
Niu Erbao was stunned, his eyes widened, and his face was full of disbelief: "Master, are you not confused? What time is it? Still planting vegetables? They won't grow even if you plant them!"
"Who says it can't grow?" Xu Kuo smiled confidently.
Just then, a sarcastic voice came from behind: "Hey, isn't this Xu Kuo? What's this? Instead of selling fish at the market, you've come here to farm?"
The two men turned around and saw it was Tan Wang. He was carrying an empty basket, clearly having failed to sell any vegetables and slinking back to the village.
Tan Wang walked closer, looked at Xu Kuo and Niu Erbao, and said with a gloating smile, "Xu Kuo, have you lost your mind? It's almost winter, and you're still planting vegetables? You'll be starving!"
Xu Kuo glanced coldly at Tan Wang, a hint of contempt flashing in his eyes: "What do you know! I guarantee my vegetables will grow!"
"Tch, anyone can brag!" Tan Wang curled his lip, his face full of disdain. "Guaranteed it will grow? I think you're dreaming of marrying a wife—just wishful thinking! If you can make this vegetable grow, I, Tan Wang, will twist my head off and let you kick it like a ball!"
Xu Kuo had been waiting for these words, and a glint of light flashed in his eyes: "You said it yourself! Let's make a bet. If I succeed in growing these vegetables, the village chief's land will be half mine!"
"What if you can't grow it?" Tan Wang asked back, secretly pleased, thinking that Xu Kuo was courting death.
“If I can’t grow it,” Xu Kuo looked at him mockingly, “I’ll give you half of my family’s land!”
Upon hearing this, Niu Erbao panicked and quickly grabbed Xu Kuo's arm: "Master, don't be impulsive! The stakes are too high, what if..."
Seeing Niu Erbao trying to dissuade him, Tan Wang, fearing that Xu Kuo might change his mind, quickly interjected: "What's wrong, Xu Kuo? You're afraid to gamble? Afraid of losing? If you're afraid of losing, kneel down and kowtow three times right now, then get out of the market, and I'll pretend this never happened!"
"Who says I'm afraid to gamble?" Xu Kuo sneered, his eyes blazing with fighting spirit. "I'm not only going to gamble, I'm going to increase the stakes!"
