Liang Shouzhen's eyes lit up when he heard Du Yuhan's words. His Xiaohan was a master at saving the day.
He quickly said, "That's great. Xiaohan, then please learn from the technician first, and then teach the people in the village later."
Liang Shouzhen had no doubt about Du Yuhan's abilities; since Du Yuhan had spoken, she must be confident.
Du Yuhan was the first to get on a tractor and learn from the technician.
Du Yuhan knew how to drive in her previous life and had also driven large agricultural machinery on her family's farm, so this tractor was a piece of cake for her, and she quickly learned how to use it.
Even the technician who taught her gave her a thumbs up, saying she was the fastest learner he had ever taught.
Du Yuhan drove the tractor by herself once, and she was very skilled at it. Liang Shouzhen breathed a big sigh of relief.
Gu Qishen admired Du Yuhan's learning ability. She learned to drive a tractor in no time; he had to be impressed.
The experiment was a success, and now that someone in Laohewan Village could drive a tractor, Gu Qishen and his group didn't linger and left.
In fact, Gu Qishen came here specifically for Du Yuhan, wanting her to see the effects of the agricultural machinery she designed.
After everyone left, Du Yuhan told Uncle Liang that she wanted to train two tractor drivers so they could take turns. That way, if one of them had personal matters to attend to, it wouldn't interfere with everyone else's work.
The two spots—one for becoming a tractor driver and the other for learning from the beautiful and gentle Dr. He—were the envy of all the young men in the village.
Who wouldn't want to drive a tractor across the fields? That would be so cool!
Moreover, driving a tractor isn't tiring, so everyone wants to get the job.
Those young men had another idea: becoming tractor drivers would undoubtedly attract more attention from young women, which would be a plus when they were looking for wives.
Liang Shouzhen asked everyone to sign up, deciding to find more people to see who could learn better, and finally select two people to be tractor drivers.
After careful selection, Liang Shouzheng chose five people to learn how to drive a tractor from Du Yuhan. These five individuals all had some level of education; they were at least literate, not completely illiterate. This meant they could recognize some markings on the tractor and wouldn't be completely clueless from the start.
Du Yuhan was forced into the role of a temporary teacher.
She first explained the principles of tractors and agricultural machinery, and seeing the blank stares of the trainees, she guessed they basically didn't understand. They weren't very educated, so she couldn't expect too much.
After explaining some basic principles, Du Yuhan explained the purpose of each component of the tractor to them. She focused on how to use the control levers, foot pedals, and steering mechanism.
The five people Liang Shouzhen selected were all quick-witted and responsive young men. They were also quick to learn new things.
After Du Yuhan taught them for a few days, the five of them were almost able to get the hang of it. Driving a tractor isn't that difficult, at least it's simpler than driving a car.
Du Yuhan let them operate on their own while she provided guidance. She corrected any mistakes she made.
After about ten days of instruction, all five men were basically able to operate the tractor independently. Following an assessment, the two best-performing young men were selected as tractor drivers.
At this point, Du Yuhan was also freed from teaching.
With the addition of tractors, all the fields in Laohewan Village have been plowed, and they are just waiting for the spring planting season to begin.
A month passed in a flurry of activity, and Du Yuhan's house was finally finished.
After the house is built, it needs to be aired out, so Du Yuhan will stay at the Liang family's house for the time being.
Time flies, and the spring planting season is almost here.
When Gu Qishen came to Laohewan Village to visit his son, he heard that Du Yuhan's house in the village had been built, so he asked to go and see it.
Du Yuhan gave him a tour.
As Gu Qishen toured the house, he exclaimed, "I didn't expect that you would finish building it so quickly after I heard you were building it last time. This house is really nice; I think it's even better than the ones in the city."
With its heated kang bed, heated walls, and central heating, it'll definitely be warm in winter. And your kitchen and bathroom are very well built, and the idea for the boiler room is excellent too.
I didn't expect you to have so many ideas. This house is not only fully functional, but also very comfortable to live in; it's really great. When are you planning to move in?
Du Yuhan replied, "The house needs to be aired out first. We need to put all the furniture in the rooms and let the smell dissipate. Then we need to buy some household items. By the time everything is ready, the house will be almost aired out."
Houses built nowadays don't emit any toxic gases; they just need to be dried out.
After the house was built, Du Yuhan wanted to go home. Firstly, to visit the Jiang family, and secondly, to buy household items for the new house.
She couldn't possibly conjure things up without ever leaving Laohewan Village.
Gu Qishen then took Du Yuhan and Gu Huayang back to the city. Gu Huayang spent every day playing with Du Haisheng and didn't want to leave.
Gu Qishen was very happy to see that his son had made friends in Laohewan.
Du Yuhan plans to stay at home for a few days and buy some daily necessities to gradually fill out her new home in Laohewan Village.
He Chenglin and Yu Huiru both knew that their daughter was going to build a house in Laohewan Village. They didn't expect that the house would be completed in just one month. Their efficiency was too high.
Gu Qishen laughed and said, "How could the efficiency not be high? Xiaohan is a treasure to Laohewan Village. They can't wait for her to settle down in Laohewan as soon as possible, so of course the construction of the house has to be fast."
Xiaohan has all the necessary paperwork to work as a village doctor, which means she can receive a salary. Although the salary isn't high, it should be enough for her to support herself.
