Chapter 259 A Truckload of Supplies

He Yuhan kept serving meatballs to Han Yixian. Han Yixian ate quite a few meatballs, but not much rice.

These days, rice is a rare sight. Even without this delicious meatball soup, a grown man can easily eat several large bowls of rice.

Looking at his fiancée sitting across from him, Han Yixian felt a surge of warmth in his heart. Even though there were other people in the house, Han Yixian still felt cozy and content. At that moment, it was as if he and He Yuhan were already married, living their own little life together.

Maybe this is how they'll be after they get married: the couple cooking and eating together, warm and cozy. A few children together would make their life perfect.

Han Yixian was truly stuffed this time. Being able to eat until he was stuffed after often going hungry felt like such a blissful experience.

After the meal, He Yuhan brewed a pot of fine tea for Han Yixian, who felt like he was about to fly with happiness.

He Chenglin was truly comfortable recuperating at his daughter's home. Sitting on the warm kang (heated brick bed) and eating the delicious medicinal meals his daughter had specially prepared for him, he was thoroughly enjoying himself.

After his daughter gave him the medicine, he felt much better, which shows that what his daughter said about the effective medicine was true.

That night, Han Yixian, Du Haifeng, and Du Haisheng stayed in the second room from the east. He Yuhan, along with Gu Huayang and He Haobo, stayed in the easternmost room.

He Chenglin's illness is contagious and requires isolation, so Yu Huiru takes care of him during the day and stays in the east room with her daughter at night.

Du Haisheng was taken home by Wang Yuqiao to live with her. She was worried that Du Haisheng was still young and would cause trouble for the adults. With the eldest and second sons living at their daughter's house, they could help out if anything happened.

That night, Han Yi lay on the kang (a heated brick bed), listening to the breathing of Du Yuhan's two younger brothers, and thinking about He Yuhan just a wall away, he felt a surge of excitement. He didn't have many opportunities to be this close to He Yuhan, and although there were other people around, he was still very excited.

In the morning, Han Yi first made breakfast with He Yuhan, helped her chop firewood and carry water, and prevented her from touching cold water.

Although the weather is getting colder, He Yuhan's chickens are still laying eggs, so there is never a shortage of eggs at home.

For breakfast, He Yuhan steamed a small bowl of egg custard, made scallion pancakes, stir-fried eggs with chives, and served rice porridge with pickled vegetables mixed with sesame oil. Everyone ate their fill.

It's already a blessing to have enough to eat these days, let alone eat so well.

Yu Huiru always made sure her husband ate alone in the room to avoid infection. He Chenglin not only used his own tableware, but also disinfected it every day.

After dinner, Han Yixian would go to the village primary school to teach the children. He Yuhan had already told Uncle Liang that Han Yixian would be teaching the children in her place for the time being.

Many children knew that the person who came to teach them was Teacher He's fiancé. Han Yixian's imposing presence made the children extremely docile in his presence.

Han Yixian's morning class went very smoothly.

He Yuhan still sees patients in the morning. She is usually quite busy in the morning, but there is not much to do in the afternoon.

While Han Yixian was at home, He Yuhan wanted to take the opportunity to help him improve his health. Since his parents were also there, He Yuhan would carefully prepare every meal.

He Yuhan knew that her father needed more nutrition, eating high-calorie, high-protein, high-fat, and high-vitamin foods, such as chicken, duck, fish, meat, shrimp, fruits, fresh vegetables, and soy products. This would help her father recover faster.

He Yuhan was relieved that her father's illness was not too serious. With her various special medicines for tuberculosis, the well water in her space, and a nutritious diet, she believed that her father's illness would be almost cured in two months, and after another two months of consolidation, there would definitely be no problem.

Resources are scarce now, and it's hard to get anything to eat. Luckily, she has a lot of supplies in her spatial storage. However, He Yuhan is struggling to find an excuse to take them out.

He Yuhan couldn't care less about anything else for the sake of her father and family.

After finishing lunch, she gritted her teeth and said to Han Yixian, "Brother Han, can I borrow your car for a moment? I'm going to get something to eat."

Han Yixian was taken aback when he heard this and said, "Is there no food at home? Then I'll go and think of something. You don't need to go."

He Yuhan said, "It doesn't matter whether we go or not, it's easier for me to go and I'll get more stuff. My dad needs nutrition to recover from his illness, and my mom hasn't been feeling well lately, so she needs some nourishment too. We can't let the kids in the family go hungry. And you, you haven't gained weight back since you lost it, so I want to take advantage of this time to help you get some nutrition."

Han Yixian grabbed He Yuhan's hand and said, "Yuhan, why do you always want to shoulder everything on your own? You should learn to rely on me. I can shelter you from the wind and rain and give you the greatest support."

He Yuhan said, "I know. But it's easier for me to get food than for you, so why should I make things difficult for you? I know you can get supplies, but it's not easy for you either. Don't you also have to ask for help?"

Besides, your current position doesn't warrant any special treatment, lest someone find fault with you. We're already engaged, why be so formal?

Han Yixian felt very warmed by He Yuhan's words and couldn't help but hug her, gently stroking her hair with one hand. He said, "You're right, we don't need to be so clear about things. Although we're not married yet, I've already considered you my other half. I just don't want you to take any risks."

I am a man, and I should take on dangerous tasks.

You're too strong-willed. I wish you could rely on me more. Don't make me feel so useless.

He Yuhan leaned against Han Yixian's chest and smiled, "Who said you're useless? You've given me a lot of support. I feel very safe with you by my side."
