Chapter 261 The Fainting Little Boy

With Han Yixian's help, everything was quickly moved into the house. Most of the grain was first put into the storage room.

He Yuhan would replenish the food in the kitchen whenever it ran out.

Then He Yuhan took the fruits and vegetables she had brought back out of the box to prevent them from spoiling inside.

Han Yixian was quite surprised to see He Yuhan bring out a bunch of fresh fruits and vegetables. Although the fruits were the kind that could be found in winter, they were quite rare in Northeast China.

Vegetables were even rarer; I really don't know where He Yuhan got them from.

He knew he was capable enough, but it was impossible for him to obtain so many fresh fruits and vegetables in the dead of winter as easily as He Yuhan. The thought of He Yuhan's secret weighed heavily on his mind.

Han Yixian looked at the items and said seriously, "These are just for our own family to eat. Don't send them to your adoptive parents or Uncle Liang's family. Also, these things can't be left outside. Lock them all in the storage room. Don't let outsiders see them."

Seeing Han Yixian's serious expression, He Yuhan felt a little guilty and said, "Oh, I know, these things really shouldn't be revealed to outsiders. Let's just eat them ourselves."

Han Yixian said, "Yuhan, I hope you pay attention to your safety. Some things should not be exposed if possible. I don't want to put you in danger because of some unnecessary negligence. If you continue to be so careless, I will take care of all your food from now on."

He Yuhan nodded in response to Han Yixian's warning and said, "I understand. I will be more careful in the future."

She quickly changed the subject, asking, "By the way, how was your class with the children today?"

When He Yuhan asked about this, Han Yixian looked a little awkward and said, "I went to class today, and there was a group of women surrounding the classroom. I went straight to Uncle Liang and asked him to kick them all out."

Upon hearing this, He Yuhan laughed and said, "Those young women and wives must know that you are too handsome, so they all went to see your good looks. Who told you to be so handsome, so attractive to women?"

Upon hearing He Yuhan's praise, Han Yixian smiled and asked, "Does my appearance attract you?"

He Yuhan smiled and said, "What do you think? Everyone has a love for beauty. Men like beautiful women, and women like handsome men. It's only human nature."

I was also momentarily stunned by your handsome appearance when I first saw you.

Han Yixian's eyes lit up as he asked, "So, did you start to like me from that time on?"

He Yuhan glared at Han Yixian and said, "You're trying to trick me into telling you this, but I'm not going to tell you."

Han Yixian chuckled and said, "I know even if you don't say it. You knew back then that you might marry me in the future, so you must have already secretly fallen for me."

He Yuhan felt a little embarrassed by what she said and turned to leave, saying, "I'm ignoring you, I'm going to cook."

Han Yixian said with a smile, "I'll help you out; two people can finish faster."

He Yuhan plans to make braised pork, braised fish, stir-fried celery with pork, and shredded potatoes with green peppers for dinner. She'll have rice as her main dish and also make a spinach and egg soup.

We have spinach at home; He Yuhan specially planted some autumn spinach, and we haven't finished eating it yet.

He Yuhan and Han Yixian worked together and used several large pots to quickly prepare dinner.

When He Yuhan served the food to He Chenglin, He Chenglin was taken aback. He was surprised that there were still green vegetables in the middle of winter.

He knew it must have been his daughter who went out to get it that afternoon.

He Chenglin and Yu Huiru exchanged a glance but did not press the matter further, not wanting to put their daughter in a difficult position.

But He Chenglin still said, "Yuhan, don't bring these fresh vegetables anymore. They're too conspicuous and not good for you."

Faced with the same admonition from her father and Han Yixian, He Yuhan knew they were saying it out of concern for her. She nodded and said, "Dad, I understand. I won't do it anymore. But I dried a lot of vegetables. If we don't have fresh vegetables, we can eat dried vegetables."

Gu Huayang and He Haobo, the two little ones, came home for dinner. Faced with so much delicious food, the two children waited obediently for their aunt to serve them food.

He Yuhan prepared some rice for them, cut the meat into small pieces, removed the fish bones from the fish, and added some green vegetables. The two little ones happily ate with their spoons.

Han Yixian watched He Yuhan take care of the two children and imagined what his and He Yuhan's children would be like in the future.

He Chenglin doesn't need his wife to help him eat; he's not so sick that he can't move. Apart from feeling a little weak and having some chest tightness, he's not in too much pain and is safe enough to take care of himself.

He told his wife to stay away from him as much as possible to avoid accidentally getting infected.

After that, Yu Huiru always ate with He Yuhan and the others, while He Chenglin ate alone in the room.

The next day, there weren't many patients at the clinic. Han Yixian went to teach the children again, and He Yuhan said goodbye to her parents, prepared some things, and rode her bicycle to Liujiatun.

It's been a while since I visited Uncle Liu, Aunt Liu, and the baby.

He Yuhan still marvels at the two medical books Aunt Liu gave her. Those two books were truly invaluable. To put it more clearly, they were the culmination of generations of medical practitioners, a summary of their medical experience.

Medical books record many difficult and complicated diseases, including symptoms, analyses, treatment methods, and prescriptions. These are the crystallization of the wisdom of many medical practitioners.

Those two medical books were passed down through Aunt Liu's family, which shows that her family must have been a very famous medical family in the past. It's just unknown why Aunt Liu ended up here as a peasant woman.

Moreover, she didn't understand why Uncle Liu and Aunt Liu, brother and sister, hadn't studied medicine, but instead put these medical books on a shelf and gave them back to her.

The fact that Aunt Liu would give her such a precious medical book shows that she genuinely cared for her.

She naturally wanted to repay Aunt Liu's kindness by receiving such a precious gift. The things she had given her before seemed insignificant now. However, she would keep trying and visit them often, bringing them more gifts in the future.

When He Yuhan was riding her bicycle and almost reached Liujiatun, she suddenly saw a child lying on the road.

She quickly got off her bicycle, propped it up, and ran to the child.

The child was small, and upon closer inspection, it was a boy. He was extremely thin, barely clothed, and his lips were already purple from the cold. He wore straw sandals, and his feet were covered in chilblains. He Yuhan felt a pang of pity for him.

He Yuhan knelt down and checked the child's breathing; he was relieved to find he was still breathing. She took the child's pulse and realized he had collapsed by the roadside from hunger and cold. It was lucky she had found him; otherwise, the child would have frozen to death in such cold weather.

I don't know which parents are so cruel to their child, making the child wear such thin clothes in such cold weather.
