Chapter 389 Someone Came Looking for the Child

No one knows what the journey will bring, but it certainly won't be smooth sailing.

Han Yixian only told his father-in-law and mother-in-law that He Yuhan was accompanying him on the business trip, without revealing the real destination. He did this partly because he didn't want his in-laws to worry, and partly because the trip needed to be kept secret; the fewer people who knew, the better.

He Yuhan made extensive preparations for this trip. She had Du Zhuoyuan order a large quantity of light industrial products and various daily necessities, all without any labels, making it impossible to tell their origin or production date, so that no one could trace them later.

There are also large quantities of grain and various non-staple foods. There is a shortage of grain everywhere, and the grain will be welcomed wherever it goes. There is no worry about not being able to sell it.

They plan to go south first to buy some jade and gemstones, and then head north. If time permits, they also intend to visit several major diamond and gemstone producing areas after arriving in the north.

Those countries are quite underdeveloped now and need a lot of daily necessities. She believes she can exchange these scarce light industrial products for precious diamonds and various gemstones. Because diamonds and gemstones are not nearly as expensive as they would be in later years.

As for their luggage, He Yuhan had plenty of space, so they didn't need to prepare much, and the two of them set off lightly.

While Han Yixian and He Yuhan were embarking on their journey, a few people from Laohewan Village came and found Wen Jinyu. However, this time, these people weren't there for medical treatment, but rather to find someone; they claimed to be Xiao Sitian's relatives.

The visitors were a young couple, a middle-aged couple, a young woman, and a police officer from the local police station. They first met with Liang Shouzhen, who then led them to Wen Jinyu's home.

The people who came all introduced themselves.

The young couple were named Cui Guoxin and An Qingqing. The middle-aged couple were Cui Guoxin's parents, Cui Jiancheng and Bai Xiuyan. The young woman was Cui Guoxin's younger sister, Cui Yuting.

Wen Jinyu looked at the group of people in front of her in shock and asked with a frown, "Are you saying that the child I adopted might be your child? How is that possible? I found the child in the mountains. You are from the city. How could your child have ended up in the mountains?"

The young woman just kept crying, while the young man, as if ashamed, lowered his head and said, "It's all my fault."

Seeing that the two of them were embarrassed to speak, Cui Guoxin's mother said, "Elder sister, to be honest, we misjudged people. I'm not afraid you'll laugh at me, so I'll just tell you the truth..."

Only after Cui Guoxin's mother, Bai Xiuyan, recounted the events did Wen Jinyu and Liu Zhongyi understand what had happened.

The Cui family is a prominent family in City C. The Wang family, which has been friends with the Cui family for generations, has a daughter named Wang Liyun, who grew up with Cui Guoxin as childhood sweethearts.

Wang Liyun secretly loves Cui Guoxin and desperately wants to marry into the Cui family. However, Cui Guoxin has always treated Wang Liyun like a younger sister.

Wang Liyun had also confessed her feelings to Cui Guoxin in private, but was rejected by him.

Cui Guoxin later met An Qingqing and they quickly started dating.

The An family's background was average, but the Cui family wasn't the type to prioritize social status. Bai Xiuyan also liked An Qingqing very much, and soon Cui Guoxin and An Qingqing began discussing marriage.

But Wang Liyun, who desperately wanted to become Cui's daughter-in-law, couldn't accept it. How could she remain indifferent when the man she had always loved was about to be taken away by someone else? She also believed that Cui Guoxin had betrayed her.

Wang Liyun gradually gets close to An Qingqing by taking advantage of her past friendship with Cui Guoxin's sister, Cui Yuting. On the surface, she is on good terms with An Qingqing, but in secret, she tries to sabotage the relationship between Cui Guoxin and An Qingqing.

Meanwhile, the naive Cui Yuting still considered Wang Liyun a good friend, and An Qingqing gradually came to regard Wang Liyun as a good friend as well.

Wang Liyun also subtly created conflict between Cui Yuting and An Qingqing, attempting to damage the relationship between An Qingqing and the Cui family.

However, even Wang Liyun's sabotage could not prevent Cui Guoxin and An Qingqing from getting married.

After Cui Guoxin and An Qingqing got married, Wang Liyun even hated Cui Guoxin. Her mind became twisted, and she always wanted to take revenge on Cui Guoxin and his family.

An Qingqing became pregnant soon after getting married and gave birth to a daughter.

The Cui family adored the daughter An Qingqing gave birth to.

Wang Liyun had assumed the Cui family would be unhappy that An Qingqing had given birth to a daughter, but to her surprise, the Cui family actually preferred girls. This infuriated Wang Liyun.

Seeing the Cui family so happy and joyful, and seeing how much the Cui family liked An Qingqing, Wang Liyun was driven almost mad with jealousy. Her insane jealousy fueled her wicked schemes. While An Qingqing was in postpartum confinement, Wang Liyun stole the baby while An Qingqing was asleep.

Then, alone, she carried the child and handed him over to someone she had bribed beforehand, instructing that person to throw the child into the mountains to be eaten by wolves. This shows just how vicious Wang Liyun's intentions were.

By the time the Cui family realized their child was missing and began searching frantically, it was already too late.

The Cui family immediately reported the incident to the police. After analysis, they also suspected Wang Liyun, because besides the Cui family, only Wang Liyun had been seen entering and leaving the Cui family home before and after the child went missing.

When questioned, Wang Liyun denied everything, but she became the prime suspect.

As the police investigation progressed, the sabotage Wang Liyun had caused gradually came to light, and the Cui family realized that this seemingly well-behaved girl from a family with whom they had a long-standing friendship was actually a vicious person.

This further convinced everyone that the child had been stolen by Wang Liyun.

The Wang family was completely unaware of their daughter's actions. Only after this incident did they realize that their daughter was such a person, not even sparing an innocent child.

The Wang family also urged Wang Liyun to reveal the child's whereabouts. However, Wang Liyun felt a sense of satisfaction seeing the Cui family almost frantic with worry over the child's disappearance, and refused to reveal the child's location.

The Cui family has already reported the incident to the police, so this matter will have to go through the official channels; there's no possibility of settling it privately.

Wang Liyun knew that even if she found her child, she wouldn't be any better off. She would definitely go to jail, and her life would be ruined. Besides, the child had been thrown into the mountains and was probably eaten by wild animals long ago.

Wang Liyun felt she had no way out but death, and in utter despair, she chose to commit suicide one night. Fortunately, An Qingqing's daughter was with her on the road.

No one expected Wang Liyun's suicide. Now all the clues have been cut off, and the whereabouts of the child are completely unknown.

The Wang family lost their daughter and harbored resentment towards the Cui family, thus completely severing ties between the two families.

With Wang Liyun dead, the Cui family had nowhere to vent their resentment, and they still had to continue searching for their child. A once happy and joyful family was thus destroyed by Wang Liyun.
